    Greatest loan signing since Costa?
I assumed this was tongue in cheek but it's had a few likes. Carson, Gallagher, Cullen. Not yet...
I think we should add Song, Bielek and Coquelin
    What? No Astrit Ajdarevic?  ;)

  • Have to make sure we make it permanent in January, wouldn’t exactly fancy competing with half the other championship teams in the division to make it permanent in the summer. Whatever fee it would cost in January it’s worth as it probably would cost that in a signing on fee as a free agent alone
  • A shame our singers are a lot younger than me. I reckon the use of Nice and Sleazy by the Stranglers would work.

Nice one breezy, nice one breezy, does it, does it, does it every time!
  • We need to sign Bree on a permanent contract. The man has morphed into prime Cafu with us!

No chance that NJ let's him slip away

I just can't believe the loan isn't a quick fix in limited time and the transfer isn't already agreed to go through in January. Jones is too thorough for that not to be the case.
  • Hope we sign him but I wonder what % of his wages we are paying and what he expects going forwards.  He clearly loves working with NJ but I can't help feel his wage expectations may be out of our range longer term.

I get the feeling he's the type of person that is not in it just for the money as some others are.
Sometimes feeling at home and loved by the fans can be enough.
If he carries on the way he has started, I'm sure a reasonable offer will be made to him.
    But what do I know.

Very simple forget about the Japanese kid who we don’t know would settle or even be first team player and get Bree in on a permanent deal .. but of course his performances would not go unnoticed at Southampton so they might want him back or the fee suddenly increases ?
  • As his contract is up in June, I'm wondering if anyone knows whether we loaned him with an option to buy in January....?

I think someone needs to come up with a 'Cheesy' song for him.
  • He feels a bit like the Kermorgant signing. Last minute, played previously with the manager but was underwhelming and unwanted at his previous club, whose fans really don't rate him.

But seems to have real class, makes an immediate impact with us and instantly feels a key piece of the jigsaw.
  • Without doubt Mr Bree has already shown enough quality for us to be seriously interested in making his signing a permanent one.

Two things I noticed about Bree, watching back the highlights today:

    - After Carey scores, despite him screaming for the pass in an open position to carry on the attack, he goes mental celebrating and runs straight over to him, and is the first man there.

    - After he scores the third, he doesn't do much by way of celebration, and goes STRAIGHT over to Greg Docherty to hug him for the assist.

That feels like exactly the sort of character you want at your club. I am not usually one to set my stall out this early on a loanee but we should sign him permanently at the earliest available opportunity.
    How much would he cost?

Don’t think transfer fee would be any issue, just the wages. He’ll be on a very good wage at Southampton so would likely have to take a pay cut wherever he goes next

Considering they loaned him out in the first place means the manager just doesn’t rate him especially when they went out and signed another fullback just to have an excuse to get rid of him. Feels very much like a T.Taylor situation, they also can’t exactly keep upping the fee as well as he’s gone in 6 months anyway and they’re forced to pay him 6 months wages to be not be used as well if they can’t find him a club.

Eazy cheezy peazy Breezy! Only works for stickers for lampposts and pub toilets though...cant help with the songs I'm afraid.

  • From the players own comments it seems Nathan Jones is a big pull for him. That certainly works in our favour. With only six months left on his contract I doubt the fee will be much of an issue but very often in the end wages are the deal maker or breaker. If we don’t offer enough he might well just sit his contract out. Hope it doesn’t come to that.

If that’s the case could just propose we take him on loan for the final 6 months of his contract anyway. Southampton save money by not paying his wages and we keep a good player. then we can go back in for him in the summer when our wage budget has increased. If we can’t get him still have Apter, Asiimwe and will be more options that pop up as well we’re in a very strong position whatever happens with him

Unless a deal has already been agreed, and maybe even if it has, Southampton will be looking to get the best financial deal possible for themselves, as they should.

If they can get a fee in January and free up his wages all good for them but the better he does for us the more likely, IMHO, that they try to squeeze us to either pay a bigger transfer fee or ask for a bigger loan fee and to have more of his wages paid come the new year.

Football is a cut throat business.
  • Another inspired signing by Nathan

I read that he signed a 4 year deal worth over 2 million. So 500k plus per year
  • When did we last have a set piece taker this good?

    Andy Shinnie?
  • I dont think there is or ever was any chance we would sign him in Jan. Southampton were clearly trying to get a fee for him this summer and only when something fell through was he available for loan. Even with 6 months left they will want a decent fee and i think his wage expectations will be far too high.

Prepared to be pleasantly shocked though

This is what I'm thinking to but what we do have going for us is he's going to be loved here. After being at a club where you've fallen out of favour that can be massive and we know he loves NJ too. Part of me is resigned to not having him for the second half but maybe seeing him back in August
