Don't vote! Down with this sort of thing!

    Southampton will up his price.

2 (at least) Problems with loans .. first if the loanee does well, this indicates to the parent club that they should re-evaluate whether to allow him to leave (in essence a Gallagher situation) and/or of course, the better they perform the more the price will go up
I m o we will need to go into 'the market' in January, Bree would be a good start IF the price is right

How the f didn’t he win the goal of the month?!
The Swansea bloke’s goal, which won, was the least impressive imho.

Because these things are now just done on a public vote. More Swansea fans voted. It’s the same on Match of the Day goal of the month so more often than not one of the big teams wins.

It doesn't help that they only showed the footage starting from TC's pass. If they'd included Kelman's control of the long pass as well, it becomes a much more impressive team goal.

    Another assist.
  • Thought he got turned inside out today near the end, not sure if that’s lack of fitness.

Agree, didn't think he was at the races today. Doesn't help playing alongside Burke.

Great in the first half, seemed incredibly casual and lackadaisical in the second though, some simple passes that he started trying weird flicks and outside of the foot passes etc with.

Go back 6 months and this could easily have been on the Thierry Small thread

Both their RB’s should be fit during the January window hopefully there’s still a chance we can get him
  • You don't have to be perfect each game but if you have a lethal ball in you, it's enough to change the game.

We were so wasteful in the QPR game from set pieces...Coventry, Edwards, Carey and Apter are pretty average from a dead ball. I do think Jones prioritised this.
  • Question is... Does James Bree want to go back to Southampton?

Of course he'll go back there they recall him, and playing for us, he might have better clubs interested.

But Southampton could equally have a player on their hands, who like Charlie Kelman with QPR, is unhappy with how he's been treated, and as a result, they might find it easier just to get some kind of fee before he leaves for nothing next summer.

If other clubs were interested, you'd also hope that we'd have the edge over them, because Bree clearly enjoys working with Nathan Jones, and I imagine its the big reason why he chose to come here, rather than because its "Charlton"

Sure he knows Jones gets the best out of him, and will want to stick with him

Decent chance Southampton will have a different manager in January, which could change things

Don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility he sees out the second half of the season on the south coast and then joins us in the summer. Would mean recalling Asiimwe which would be a shame for him and Jacko

He has a made a real impact with his quality since coming here( although you have to feel sorry for Apter)
if he does go back in January I hope it doesn’t knock us back like it did when Gallagher left for Swansea
However I feel we are in a much better place compared to back then with a much stronger squad

Wouldn’t be surprised if some sort of deal is in place, possibly  couldn’t reach a permanent agreement due to his contract ending, but Nathan knew he was quality and playing the longer game expecting Bree to want to stick around.

Asiimwe is nowhere near ready for Champ football. In the case that Bree goes, we will deffo bring in another name, maybe Fukuda

If we wait until the summer strong possibility another championship club with better resources than us picks him up instead. Would like to think Bree is enjoying his football here but if the option is that or an extra 5k and a big signing bonus elsewhere there's no guarantee we'd get him in the summer. I think its either we get him now In January or we look elsewhere potentially go back to Fukuda

I think Fukuda as a replacement is a huge risk, none of us know if he will adapt to the level. By all means a back up option if he is still on the radar. I think NJ will be (or probably has already) made it clear how much he wants Bree to stay, remember he is one of NJ’s players as he likes to say.

He MUST be signed up to a 2 or 3 year deal in the new year .. he's become a very important team member, not least for his accuracy with free kicks and corners

It's a risk that Fukuda doesn't work out but then Rob Apter hasn't done anything wrong, other than not being as brilliant as Bree. Apter was our player of the month before Bree came in so we can afford to gamble a bit with a first team ready alternative already here

Absolutely, feel sorry for Apter he’s done nothing wrong, bit harsh to not even get off the bench.he will get his chance though.
