I think that is beyond the realms of possibility. Southampton will want to sell him in January, otherwise they get nothingfenaddick said:Don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility he sees out the second half of the season on the south coast and then joins us in the summer. Hopefully this has been a try before you buy scenario, as we didn’t want commit too soon.(injuries etc.?)NabySarr said:

I think they’ll spend the window trying to find a RB (they’ve looked weak there, although partly due to injury) and won’t let him go until they do. Then when they fail he gets stuck there for 6 months. Maybe I’m too pessimistic but I don’t think that’s impossibleNabySarr said:

They’ll also quite possibly have a new manager who rates Bree0
-
That’s more possible, but if that happens he will sign a new contract there. Financially we can’t compete with themfenaddick said:They’ll also quite possibly have a new manager who rates Bree
Most likely scenario is he leaves permanently in January. Our problem will be that he’s doing so well which will mean there will probably be other championship interest that might offer him more money1 -
It's tough to see how Apter gets back into the side without an injury to Bree. The thing about Bree is, even if he's not playing well, his set pieces are a massive asset, so it's very hard to leave him out.3

He has a great chance on 22nd November to make himself hard to drop but that’s a long way awayChunes said:It's tough to see how Apter gets back into the side without an injury to Bree. I'm not sure he will get a chance on 22/11 when we play Southampton to make himself undroppable.fenaddick said:

Surely Southampton won't allow him to line up for us when we play them?0 -
I was saying that’s a game Apter has to make himself undroppable because Bree can’t playFortune 82nd Minute said:

Best FB/WB in the league according to these stats. Presumably would have to keep scoring and assisting as he has all season to stay there though.

I don't think he cares about the money that much, he wants to play for Jones, and I'm sure he'd gladly take a small reduction to play under him again, as long as we're not offering absolute peanutsNabySarr said:

Interesting this. Bree the obvious standout. Ramsay in the "defence only" box which makes sense as he's playing on the back 3. Edwards and Small both in the "sometimes good" section and quite close together. Apter not on there as people haven't worked out he's played as a WB.Scoham said:Best FB/WB in the league according to these stats. I don't know how accurate capology is, but I am hoping not very based on some of our players alleged salaries..sam3110 said:

Capology had our budget below Cambridge's last year and underestimated Louie Barry's salary by 5 figures so feel free to ignore0

Based on capology we have the lowest championship wage bill on 175k a week, Portsmouth in 23rd on 184k a week and Wednesday in 22nd on 211k a week and Oxford apparently having a higher wage bill than Coventry Bristol City and QPR wouldn’t read into it

Capology just guesses. It bases it on what it hears in the news same as the rest of us, and then if there's nothing out there it has a system it employs to guess. 'Capology relies on a network of insiders directly involved in contract negotiations as well as news publications around the world. When this is insufficient, Capology’s algorithms provide a best estimate using over 20 variables, including age, position, date of last contract, and more.'
I don't believe Capology has too many key insiders passing on information for 2nd and 3rd tier negotiations so mostly they base it on previous contracts that were publicly talked about in the news or what they think they'll be on. Kaminski, Berry and Burke are the highest because we signed them from a side that played in the Premier League recently. The lowest are players we signed from a lower division and a youth player. Not a totally unreasonable assumption maybe, but not based in any fact0 -

When was the last time we had a set piece taker this good0

The post match comments felt a bit odd.
Did he take a set piece, or was it a slight exaggeration? His form has dipped a bit of late and if he's not able to whip a ball in, then becomes quite an average contributor.0 -
I thought he contributed very little in the last couple of games if I'm honest. His set pieces on Tuesday night were awful, and he was very anonymous yesterday. We've been told he's got a groin issue, which is obviously hindering him, but without his set pieces I'm unsure what he brings to the side that JRC wouldn't have been able to give? Or Apter for that matter, given the lack of attacking threat yesterday you would have hoped that we could bring someone on to freshen it up and offer a different challenge to the Wrexham defence. Hope it's a blip and not the end of a honeymoon period for him0

Acting like he’s been off it for weeks. He’s a defender that kept a clean sheet on Tuesday even if his set pieces were poor did his defensive duty just fine. Not sure 1 terrible game in 11 when he’s playing through a groin injury counts as a blipsam3110 said:I thought he contributed very little in the last couple of games if I'm honest. But it's fine to address a player's individual contribution. That's using a team stat to defend an individual player.Crispywood said:

I agree with Sam that Bree has been off form for the past few games and I've seen others on here say the same. He's been caught out defensively and is wasteful in good attacking areas. Sometimes his passing is lazy - everyone can see the pass is not on, but he plays it anyway.
If he's been carrying an injury all this time, then fair enough. Otherwise, starting to see why Southampton brought in another option in his position. But to his credit, he has scored some important goals, and his set pieces are usually so good, it's almost worth having him in there anyway.0 -
I mean look at his statbank marks the last 5 games or so. Bottom 3 in the Ipswich game, barely clearing 6 out of 10 a couple of games, bottom 3 again against Wrexham, he hasn't played well, relatively speaking to the rest of the XI, for about 3 weeks.Crispywood said:

Being part of a clean sheet on Tuesday is all well and good if he's actively contributing to the defensive side of the game, throwing blocks, making crucial interceptions and tackles, being aerially dominant, but he hasn't been.
So you look at his attacking contributions, and that's dropped off too compared to his first few appearances, especially his dead ball deliveries. He's not been terrible, and maybe his electric start is now adding a negativity bias to his contribution, but he's not immune to criticism0
