Has he ever played Lb or LWB out of interest? Wondering whether he is also seen as an option there were Edwards to get a long term injury

So in a 3-4-3 we play, who are the front 3?
What’s that got to do with Jimmy Cheese playing right back?
    Exactly.
Apter is one of the front 3, not a wing back.
Apart from him telling Cawley in an interview he's Right Wing Back you nean

Apter is a wing back In the same way as Grealish, Saka and Salha are wing backs.
He spends most of his time high up the pitch close to the touch line, doesn’t defend much, but does track back with his full back.
Against QPR he did not go into our final third.

Look up his heat map on sofascore and compare it to Josh Edwards.
You can call him a wing back if it makes you happy. But he isn’t.

He let the Smyth run in front of him for the first QPR goal which was 12 yards out.

Read the Cawley article, Apter himself says he’s playing wing back.

Then watch our shape when we defend, TC moves central to become one of two strikers, and Apter tracks back to form 5-3-2/3-5-2 shape.

When we have the ball, he becomes a RW, while Edwards is a LB in a back four.

Small did the same last season once he started regularly playing on the right.
  • Nathan signing all his mates. 😂 I won't mind if it works out, but I think Bree will have a similar role to Burke. Experience, leadership and squad depth.

Apter at home, Bree away maybe.
    It's an option.
I thought we were very lightweight at QPR and thought Carey and Apter got knocked off the ball far too easily.
Rankin Costello and Bree may well be the way to go away from home while we wait for them to beef up a bit.
  • If Apter is indeed a wing back the defensive side of his game is appalling.
He is slow getting back, doesn't always get goal side, fails to use his body well enough and can’t tackle.
Love him for his forward play, but I can see Bree coming into the starting line up as soon as he is fit to do so and Apter either moving position or becoming a finisher from the bench.
  • I would like to see Apter in the Carey role with Bree on the right. We then have Carey to replace TC when needed (he played on the left for Blackpool).

  • Apter is exciting going forward. That, for me, is his natural position.

He played on the left in midfield rather than as a second striker who drifts wide, a subtle difference but they’re very different positions. Carey would be competing with Knibbs for Apter’s role if you made those changes

This sounds like when Appleton popped TC in the middle of the pitch and he got bullied after the first game

TC got bullied on Saturday too!
