A lot more than £3.5m. We were paying close to that for some of our signings from L1 who were out of contract in a years time.Crispywood said:
Risk losing him for nothing the following season how much could you realistically demand for someone with 12 months left on his dealSteven81 said:Crispywood said:Reckon we get 3.5M for him next summer too risky to sell him now as he will play a big part in keeping us up and too much money to turn down next summer
3.5 million would be laughable...
If Ramsay continues like this there will likely be more than one club interested, and they’ll be Championship clubs with big budgets and lower PL clubs.2 -
This, genuinely a £10m+ defender.Scoham said:
Got to be £10m plus with the money in football, now that we’re being run like a proper club again, and have ambitions beyond the Championship.Crispywood said:Reckon we get 3.5M for him next summer too risky to sell him now as he will play a big part in keeping us up and too much money to turn down next summer3 -
Where did Jones say one more permanent?RonnieMoore said:

In general I hope we are in for Pye at some stage, but he is a left footer and doesn't play like Ramsay at all.AberystwythAddick said:Not that he is going but if we were to sell him I’d look at Pye from Stockport
We will really struggle to replace Ramsay tbh, I didn't see one player last season similar to him.
I am really surprised a club like Birmingham hasn't come in for him.5 -
Callum Brittain was the best RB at championship level last season behind Van Ewijk and he only went for 3.5M this summer exact same situation at Blackburn like Ramsay will be at us. Absolutely love Ramsay but if he’s not going to sign a new deal because he knows he’s too good for us and bare in mind defenders usually cost much less than midfielders/forwards I can’t see us getting much more for him just being realistic.Scoham said:

Martial Godo looked very good at the Valley when on loan to Wigan. Doesn’t seem to be featuring much for Fulham.1

Heard you might have to wait for him though.Pelham123 said:Martial Godo looked very good at the Valley when on loan to Wigan. Doesn’t seem to be featuring much for Fulham.7 -
Yesterday after match interview when he was asked would there be any more incomingsDanlazzz said:

Charlton Athletic are looking to make one more permanent transfer before the summer transfer window closes. They have already made several additions this summer, including Thomas Kaminski, Reece Burke, and Harvey Knibbs. Manager Nathan Jones has been actively reshaping the squad, and he may not be finished yet, with reports suggesting a further permanent signing is on the cardsRonnieMoore said:

Hull City are rejecting £7-8m bids for Charlie Hughes after his first season in the Championship. We would be absolute mugs to take only £3.5m for Ramsay next summer.11

Not saying I'd accept £3.5m for Ramsay next summer, but the above isn't really a fair comparison - Hughes has 3 years left on his contract, Ramsay may have 1.West2003 said:Hull City are rejecting £7-8m bids for Charlie Hughes after his first season in the Championship. He is also 3 years younger and is more of a traditional center back that can play in a 4 or 3 man defense. Kayne is really at his best at a three man defense. Not really comparable when evaluating market value potentialNorth Lower Neil said:

Mitrovic could be available before the end of the window…1

Maybe him and Pearce could knock seven bells out of each other like the game at Fulham a few years ago.0

Pretty sure Kayne signed a 3 and a half year deal in Jan 2024, so has two years left to run!2

3.5 million would be laughable...
3.5 million was the initial fee for Gomez. Charlton didn't announce that but Liverpool boasted straight away they got Joe on the cheap at 3.5m.
The chance of Joe going for 10's of millions is receding each year and decent money coming to CAFC.
Totally different situation in many ways as Joe was the most sort after young player outside the Premier and was 18 and Ramsay had to come to CAFC at 23 as no big sides were interested in him.

More relevant is the huge inflation in transfer fees since Gomez leftsoapboxsam said:Steven81 said:Crispywood said:Reckon we get 3.5M for him next summer too risky to sell him now as he will play a big part in keeping us up and too much money to turn down next summer

I have no doubt that Kayne will be moving on next summer. His star is rising and has further to go. Only time will tell how much he’s worth because ultimately he’s only worth what someone will pay for him but next summer he’ll be sold as a Championship player and as such his value is worth much more than what we’ve been used to receiving recent years. We now also have a stable ownership who are not grasping for every penny. If as some have suggested he goes for around £3.5 million then we’ve actually learned nothing and we won’t be progressing as a club. Unless something happens that makes his wheels fall off I’d be very disappointed if we don’t demand at least £7 million.2

I envy the absolute conviction you have on this and so many other Charlton matters over which none of us have any control.ShootersHillGuru said:I have no doubt that Kayne will be moving on next summer.29 -
Say we did sell him, and that money was reinvested, in 2-3 upper championship players would people be supportive of that?0

If this was taking place next summer with us staying up comfortably, then yes, absolutely.AberystwythAddick said:Say we did sell him, and that money was reinvested, in 2-3 upper championship players would people be supportive of that?2 -
Performances like the one at the weekend will get people to take notice of Ramsay, but I'm just optimistically hopeful that we can hold on to him for now until the end of this window. He'll be buoyed by our performance as a team and unless a big Championship or lower Prem team with lots of money comes in, we should be OK. His stock is very high and, as a result, we would be able demand a huge valuation if anyone did try. Keeping him until January as a minimum would be huge (also inflating value, should another bid come in, as January = spendy time), but holding on to him until the end of the season would be huge.
I do feel the lad will probably end up at another "bigger" club in the near future. I just hope that we get a minimum of say, ~5 months of his services until that happens. A team with realistic playoff ambitions, perhaps - even then, who knows how far we could push. Plenty of other factors in play too. I doubt a lower end Prem team would take the gamble. Money talks, and there's going to be more eyes on him if he continues to play so well.
Selling him for top money represents fantastic RoI and could allow us to finance a couple more solid players. The risk in the immediate term would be doing that now and risking affecting that defence. If LJones got injured again and we sold Ramsay, we'd be right up the creek with no paddle.3 -
If it’s this summer no. Even with 5-10m we could get for him now there’s no one out there who could do a better job and he could be the type of player between relegation and staying in this division which is worth much more than that fee itself. Next Summer if we do stay up we should be in a much better position to stay up without him and it’s money which we wouldn’t be able to get the following summer so yes would sell. I seriously doubt we could get 2-3 upper championship players. People who reckon we can get 7M for him next season are in for a reality check I reckon considering the likes of Galbraith 1.5M Ahmedhozic 7M Brittain 3.5M and were in the exact same situations I’m not sure we can be much different. Personally just offer him a new 4 year deal and make him the highest paid player at the clubAberystwythAddick said:Say we did sell him, and that money was reinvested, in 2-3 upper championship players would people be supportive of that?

To work out a player’s transfer value you simply estimate what Katrien would have got for them then multiply it by ten. Using this model I would say that Ramsay is worth £15 million.24

Yes, he does, but Crispywood for one was talking about us possibly selling next summer when he has a year left.RedRobin said:Pretty sure Kayne signed a 3 and a half year deal in Jan 2024, so has two years left to run!
I hope we can agree a new longer contract with him.1 -
A QPR supporting journo is suggesting they fill their LB weakness with Jamal Lewis. Worth a look? Experienced and played a couple at RB. An NJ type and on a free.0
