Deadline Day from Pg.641 - Summer 2025 Charlton Athletic Transfer Rumours

Whatever the reason, it’s encouraging that Jones is aware we need a ‘ten’, a more creative player in that midfield. He’ll find the right person, he’s been a very good judge of player so far. Plus he has Chapple helping him now.5

IF, big if, Bolton are interested in Ahadme I’d take McAtee as part of the deal.0

I'm gutted but if it means we get Donley (loan) and Fukuda instead of Knibbs and Lembisika (loan), I could see the argument...
Knibbs and Fukuda would still be the preferred!8 -

Unlikely, I think his account has been hackedCaptainRobbo said:
Is it just me or has Ronnie been posting some fairly sensible comments lately?EugenesAxe said:
I read it as the decision is wether he’s going to be in the Reading side, as it also mentions what his mindset is now about playing, nothing to do with coming here that seems to be off now.RonnieMoore said:Let’s see what decision made tonight .. and hopefully have a clearer picture in the morning ?

No wonder we rejected him !Athletico Charlton said:Hopefully we called it off as we have an even better option lined up instead. I suspect though it was his medieval. Shame, would have loved Knibbs at Charlton, we could definitely do with more goals and midfield dynamism.2 -

Blows my mind how many posters on here can’t spot an obvious wind up.17

I’m surprised as it sounded like Knibbs was a player we were chasing all summer, to pull out of the deal at the last minute is surprise so I am hoping it’s Donley ideally on a perm though!LargeAddick said:FWIW I think we pulled the plug on the Knibbs deal because someone else surprisingly became available and we decided to go down that route because it meant there would be a cost saving over the Knibbs deal and we could use that saving and spend it better elsewhere. Whether that turns out to be a good decision who knows but if we ended up being able to get, for instance, Fukada and Donley instead of Knibbs I think most of us would be happy with that.
I’m sure my source may well be the same as someone else I know but Penny was definitely ready and waiting to go so was definitely a last minute decision to pull out.5 -
I think it would be harsh on Knibbs if he passed the medical but we pulled the deal just because we now favoured someone else. That would not be a good look in my eye. It might also come to bite us on the bum if this alternative player doesn't join us for some reason & we are left with egg on our faces.
Looks like the euphoria of the past couple of weeks is now levelling off & things are starting to look a bit iffy......
• Godden & Berry have not played any pre-season matches and therefore wont be in the starting 11 anytime soon.
• Lost our RWB and cant replace him for love nor money.
• new CEO cant take up the post & so we have to start looking for a new one.10 -

Come on, own up!! which one of you buggers paid his ransom?10

Could just be Charlton are playing a clever game .. pitting player against agent … player wants to join, agent trying to force more money out of Charlton , we refuse agent goes back to player tell him his move off .. player has bust up with agent demands he sorts the deal out ..1

JRS to Rangers seems to be off. But before we get too excited, he limped off in a friendly the other day and Palarse have said no more outgoings till they get more in.4

I think he’s a bit past it.swords_alive said:
100% nailed it. 0-3 to Watford is where it's heading.wolfgang said:
Don't back down, mate. You are onto something. We sold our excellent RWB and still have not replaced him. Failed to get Offiah, Fukuda, and Knibbs, and decided not to appoint a new CEO. Lost two of our brightest youngsters to proper clubs before they had kicked a ball in anger for us. Lucky to scrape a draw with 4th tier Cambridge and got thrashed by Ipswich reserves.AndyG said:
Sorry mate it was meant in jest, of course we have had a fantastic window far beyond most people’s expectationseastterrace6168 said:
Went downhill, bit steep, we've had a great window and it ain't finished yet, Fukuda could still be on, but waiting on his contract to end, shame about Knibbs, but come on now, we're doing a whole lot better than a lot of us expected, me included...AndyG said:This window went downhill when we didn’t get the Japanese fella lol
You don't have to be Nostradamus to see where we are heading.
Pringle anyone?3 -

Yeah, but why can't he write his own material, instead of stealing from me?SouthLincsAddick said:

No wonder you are called the Medway Machiavelli.
Though some on here think Machiavelli was a winger for Genoa.7 -
Sounds to me that the club just didn't want another Chucks situation on their hands, especially as the deal fell apart after the medical.2

This Knibbs thing has, for me, put a small dent in my enthusiasm for this transfer window. Of course, we don't know the circumstances around this. Maybe he'll still come... maybe we'll find a great alternative. Waiting game. We defo need someone of his style of play in the side though.22

And I am sure Chappell and Jones know that .. hence the reason why they went for Knibbsup_the_valley said:This Knibbs thing has, for me, put a small dent in my enthusiasm for this transfer window. Must say I’m disappointed, only one person got the joke…😂😂eastterrace6168 said:I know the club will never say what happened to the deal, but at the same time knowing that fans will be spitting feathers about it falling through, and without at least a post on the OS as to the reasons for that decision, the club know speculation will be the result....Catch 22...I'm afraid that we will never know the facts....🤷♂️0 -

Meanwhile here are their last 6 seasons side by side. Only 15,624 minutes of football for risk hazard Knibbs compared to Chuks 4864 minutes of football.

Cool but it’s a long term and highly expensive investment. If the medical has shown it’s not worth the risk then that’s itBraziliance said:
