I wonder where NJ sees him best I feel he’ll be better along side tc as the main 9 where godden was playing last season and godden, tanto and leaburn can fight for that striker spot then we can sign someone similar to tc ans provide healthy competition that’s if we continue our 352 4231 hybrid. tanto would definitely be better in the 9 from what I’ve seen of him he seems perfect as a striker sitting on the last line running in behind and pressing and harassing defenders. Another very good signing young hungry wanting to prove a point I feel come Watford it’ll be tc and tanto up top with godden coming on last 20 to keep up that intensity looking good but we’ve still got work to do. 4/5 more signings of this calibre and we’re in for a very good season.
I like him as a signing, but there are nowhere near enough goals in a forward line of TC and Tanto. I'd expect it to be TC or Tanto up top with Godden/someone new
This is my take on it, TC or Tanto, not both

Tanto has played more centrally for the bulk of his career.  I know he played out wide against us but he is not a wide forward or winger like some have made out on here.  It gives Jones options based on tactics as he is not a like for like style to TC

Disagree slightly mate tanto has all the attributes to get double figures  given a long run of games starting learning from the experience of godden, hylton he’s gonna be a big player for us this season tc shouldn’t be doubled up on as much so will have far more space to create chances for himself and others if we can keep our defensive discipline we might only need 1 or 2 goals per game and if that’s the case we’re gonna be fine and as we saw last season our goals came from the whole team Oxford last seasons top scorer had 6 godden will be used a lot this season but starting the season I feel tanto should be in the 11 against Watford with godden coming on I love matty but feel tanto is coming into his prime he’s younger hungry and got a point to prove

looks a great signing, fingers crossed he can chip in with 15+ goals ideally
He only scored 8 goals in league one last season.
Only 8 goals? Old @DOUCHER   won’t be happy with those stats! 😁

I jest. I’ve not seen that much of him but sounds like just the sort of player you need in the transition from L1 to the championship. Similar to how Tom Bradshaw was for us. Doesnt pop up with a lot of goals but continually pressing, harrying and harrasing the back line. Proper grafter. Creates chances for other players. Good luck to the lad. Got a good head on his shoulders and a local lad to boot.

Oh, and the £700k will come in handy thank you very much 😉
I’m assuming from the above, your £5m man has a poor goal scoring record as well as poor in the air 🤷‍♂️Tanto will do for me
Well it was you who bought up the goal scoring record.

So if that is what makes a player then let’s have a look at them. Josh scored 5 goals in 20 appearances last season at championship level, and he only started 15 of those games. The other five games he came on as a fairly late sub.

Tanto scored 8 goals in 42 appearances last season at L1 level. I don’t know how many of those were sub appearances but I would presume he started most games for them.

As I say, it was you who initially made a thing about the goal to game ratio.
i think u should check your facts my little blue friend because i have no idea how many goals your overpriced forward has scored, i've just stated that the millwall fans i know think he ain't very good and is particularly bad in the air for his size

Where I live, "tanto" means "so much". Thus, when a young lady visits my apartment for the first time and I remove my boxers, she gasps "Tanto!"

I know nothing, but could it be Tanto left in place of TC, and TC right in place of Small?

If we moved to 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 maybe, but not if we continue defending in a 5-3-2 as that would mean one of them at wing back.

Big season for TC, he had a tendancy to go into his shell when a defender got on top of him, he can't afford to do that in the Champtionship.

He scores, he creates, he wins fouls and he presses really well.

    What’s not to love?

Stats for the season, great, but 'missed the biggest chance in the biggest game' is not in that list. He has to recover from that and i hope he can, in the context of a winning Charlton team.

Are you going to bring it up every time he misses a chance too? What about when he scores?

Missed the biggest chance but has found himself promoted regardless.
    He's recovered already.

Well when you think about it, it was all for a reason, he was helping his future team Charlton Athletic.

He knew he wanted to be here, Stockport would have been a much tougher game for us, missed on purpose to give us the easier game vs Orient to guarantee us Championship football.

What you may view as a miss for Stockport, I see as his first contribution for Charlton. Looks like the lad has been playing chess and not checkers.

Same with Ahadme scoring the two goals against us for Cambridge that started the end of Appleton's time with us and REG giving away the free kick for our goal at Wembley. You have to look at future and former Charlton players' contributions holistically.

Finally got around to watching the highlights of the Stockport vs Orient playoff second leg to see what all the fuss is about Tanto's miss. From the way people are talking I expected it to be a prime blooper  reel miss from a Danny Baker Own Goals and Gaffs VHS. People have been talking like he missed an absolute sitter. Surprise, surprise, it turns out to be massively exaggerated. Yes, he should have hit the target but it wasn't even the best chance Stockport wasted on the night.

To be fair, it's been one or two posters just continuously posting the same thing, so looks like it's many people. Majority agree with your view of the miss.

Does this mean we shouldn’t have signed him?

Or course not, Yann missed a penalty in the playoffs, and we reaped the rewards.

I know swords_alive. He used to be obsessed with Diana Ross but binned his entire collection of her records after her 1994 penalty miss.
Went straight down the barbers after the final to cut his pony tail off too. Strange chap

Had a tune in me head since the signing,a little ditty for our new striker…

To the tune of ABBA’s Fernando…😁

There is something in the air alright our star is shining bright it’s for Tanto,

He is scoring goals out there for you and me & Cafc for its Tanto,

Though I know sometimes that we could lose, there will be no regrets,

Cause If he had to do the same again & Im sure next time he would score more than them, our Tanto,

Cause If he did have to do it all again,He would, score my friend, for it’s Tanto.

Il keep with me day job tho for now…🫣😎🤪

Fair enough. Anyway, the last guy we signed after he missed a howler in a key playoff game for his previous club turned out to be one our best ever signings and possibly my favourite ever player, so maybe it's actually a good omen.
