Were they waiting for Charlton to get promoted ?
Ffs not that load of shit again.
Can't bad news just return to being a 1992 episode of crime-watch where someone from Blackpool is stealing and selling valuables like gold and silver watches.

I think having expectations after the last 10 years is a bit much.
I am desperate for survival and never returning to that turd of a league!5 -
Which is why we are going to have to be ruthless with the squad if we want to stay up.BetterCallSaul said:
That table is quite an eye-opener. This league has lost its goddamn mind since we were last hereRedPanda said:Stolen from Reddit - an early look at our wage bill and incomes compared to other clubs' finance reports.
It's a bit different for someone like Brum who imo had a majority championship quality squad, they could probably do alright without spending.
We have a bit of an unproven team and will need to get some upgrades.7 -

My ambitions for next year in the Championship are basically survival plus. I would definitely accept finishing fourth from bottom but would feel ever happier the further we are away from relegation.2

Didn’t we say that about Bowyer?kinveachyaddick said:I for one think the Welshman will relish the two derby games and am expecting six points from them next season!
No, Bowyer is English.

agreed although i'd like to point out that its actually 4 points - we lose away - normally to a last minute flukey goal and we draw at home - its a painful curse the gypo community have on us but we do normally win the games that count - we're the play off finals champs and have an fa cup in our locker so on balance, fuck emBigDiddy said:

Last time we beat you home and away. You’re right though, usually it’s a draw and a win. Amazing feat for tiny Millwall against a footballing giant like Charlton.DOUCHER said:

I must be bad luck then, as my visits to The Den have seen us yes lose in last minute last time we played there, but also include a 3-1 stuffing, a 4-0 hammering & another 3-1 stuffing. I was on way to the 2-0 win, but we had to turn back cos the snow was making driving so hazardous.DOUCHER said:

The most galling wasn't even a defeat! 2-0 up at the Spanner Box in 1989, and we had absolutely played them off the park, with Magic Morts at his imperious best. Going into stoppage time we were home and hosed, only for (I think) Teddy Sheringham to score a late brace to rescue a point.
Absolutely gutted at the final whistle, though of course both teams ended up relegated and the Spanners haven't been seen in the top division since.0 -

I like the fact that we're a small/medium-ish sized club and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Charlton Athletic is the perfect club to support. It's got a bit of everything. Take the rough (a lot of it) with the smooth.
If I was a West ham or Arsenal fan etc, I don't think I would give a toss about football.6 -

They care and it will hurt them sooooo much when the footballing gods level it all up and we win 30 on the bounce against em
or maybe we just keep winning every play off final we get to forever to level up losing to the scum3 -
Does this mean that Norwich and Watford are in a bit of a pickle due to their parachute payments ending? That's a 20m hit to their revenue straight away. Watford's wage bill to turnover % is very low though.RedPanda said:Stolen from Reddit - an early look at our wage bill and incomes compared to other clubs' finance reports.
Also why do Wrexham get 8m tv money but other clubs only 7m?0 -
And Birmingham no additional tv money.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Yes. Why does Shef Utd have twice the TV revenue of anyone else and why does Ipswich have no parachute?BalladMan said:

That is how the football gods work. Millwall have an excellent record in all their London derbies, including v West Ham, Palace and even Chelsea and Arsenal. They are also the official best giant killers in FA Cup history & one of the best historical home teams in the country. Yet to balance that out, they’ve only played two seasons of top flight football & been runners-up in FA Cup.oohaahmortimer said:

Slowly sinking in now, I'm looking forward to a higher standard of football. Going to some fantastic grounds. Making it to more games over the season.I want us to finish mid table, but I think Jones might have other ideas. We will know 10 games in how things will pan out. The best part is the thought of bigger crowds at The Valley. The place was rocking at the end of the season, more of that would be brilliant.0

A lot will depend on the business we do, but I think a lot of people will predict us to stay up comfortably because we have Nathan Jones. The style we play translates well to the championship, if we can get our business right I think we can be well clear of the bottom 3. Pompey, Derby and Oxford all stayed up this year and I actually think we are in a better place than all 3 were last summer to tackle the championship. I do think home form will be vital, I can see us being really difficult to beat at The Valley even against the parachute teams0
