The 'Magnificent Seven' when we scored may be the Catalyst for the belief in even Charlton Athletic biggest critic @Billy_Mix (quick to criticise but slow to praise) but I won't hold my breath as he will state any negatives which he can hone in on and obviously we do have a few despite the improved results over the full duration of matches.
Thank you to the Orient players for your help in the Magnificent Seven as you helped to give the best climax to a Charlton match since BFG winner at Wembley. Also our keeper's getting the attack of muscle issues will need to be addressed 🤫

What an absolutely tremendous day out. We alighted at Leyton Midland Road Station at noon and did our bit for the local economy by visiting the cafe across the road (the picture of Rodney Charlton Trotter was, indeed, a good omen) and the Gravity Well Brewery Taproom under the railway arch. We also popped into the Libertalia Brewery Taproom, which was 2 minutes away and also under the arches. Most enjoyable and then a 20 minute stroll to the ground.
I thought we generally dominated the first half but our decision making and the final ball in the last third were a bit off. The one clear chance came just before half time after Pratley’s mistimed header hit the bar but Berry headed the rebound straight at the keeper who was on the deck. I thought we had scored when Berry scuffed the ball in but he had apparently kicked it out of the goalie’s hands.
The second half was a different story. Orient came out of the traps quickly and we looked a little sluggish, as they moved the ball better, pressed aggressively and started winning more 50/50s. We had a predictably sticky spell after their midfielder fired in a beauty from 30 yards, although the substitutes helped us regain a little momentum. We had another premature celebration’s in the second half when the ball somehow didn’t go in following a dangerous cross and it looked for all the world like it was going to be one of those deeply frustrating afternoons - compounded by most of the teams around us winning.
Of course, everything miraculously changed in injury time, just after Orient’s loanee keeper, Keeley (from Tottenham), had been named man of the match. He certainly made a few point blank saves and passed the ball well, which is very much in vogue these days, especially I imagine at elite Premier League academies. Dealing with crosses is, however, also an important part of the game and, whilst Gilbert’s deliveries were excellent, Keeley made a complete balls up and managed to miss both of them, leaving Gillesphey and Ramsey to score identical, unchallenged headers at the far post. Cue absolute bedlam in the away end !
A great moment a minute or so later when the final whistle went and the whole team and staff sprinted over to the ecstatic away following. Quite wonderful.
We weren’t at our fluid best today but you can only admire the mental strength and character of the players to snatch such a vital victory at the death. After we equalised, I felt we had achieved a hard-earned and well deserved point and would have been happy to bank that - happily, the players had other ideas.
Post-match we walked up to Alfred Hitchcock’s old manor at Leytonstone and had a few celebratory pints and pizzas in The North Star. Very nice (I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many babies and ankle biters in a pub, even in Blackheath !).
On to Tuesday and an opportunity to consolidate our position in the top 6 by putting some distance between us and the chasing pack and to close the gap on some of the teams above us.

You have to laugh at them moaning about our over zealous celebrations, but didn't they lord it in front of our fans when they went 1 up. After all they had 3/4 of the ground elsewhere to do it.1

I was at another game yesterday, in the hospitality lounge watching Bromly beat Wimbledon 1-0, eyes on the phone following our game on X. With the game over and us 0-1 down, I was fully expectnig a defeat, as I joined the queue at the bar. As the beers were bein pured my Stoke-suppotning mate help his phone up in from of me. I read the Charlton score as 1-0 (didn't have my glasses on) but immediately had a double-take.
I was told that my mood swing from a little down to absolutely ecstatic was the quickest ever seen. Still didn't believe it and was still glued to X watching the clebrations and post-match comments for ages afterwards.

19 minute highlights on Sky a decent watch - especially footage of away end at the end - total bedlam - my mate Jim and I can be clearly seen going bonkers - it took me about 30 minutes post match to talk again properly, as I was just dumbstruck at what I had witnessed

yesterday has lit the touch paper - turnarounds like that don't happen unless something special is unfolding - we were by far the better team first half and they could only play better second, which they did - felt like it wasn't going to be our day but we have serious ammunition to bring off the bench so no game is ever lost - COYR!!!!!3
