On a personal level I thought Steve Gallen was a very good bloke.

I notice both Chris Markham at Bolton and Ben Strang at Cambridge have both also left their technical / sporting director roles in the last seven days.

Interestingly, based on social media engagement, it seems all three fanbases are happy to see the back of their club directors.

Ben Strang started out in our academy 👀 Believe he left when he was 16.

Stokes head of recruitment has gone too. Seems like a few people paying the price for bad managerial choices or poor summer/winter recruitment.

Well, there’s a few of the “new opportunities” that Scott spoke about. It seems that “Technical Director” is as much of a merry go round job now as Manager has been over the years for those who fail miserably at their jobs.

    Odd isn't it.
We're told constantly that football is 100% a results business.
But those that have never ever achieved anything resembling a result continue to slosh around in the pool.

I know we're all a bit romantic, but...

How do you think NJ would take it, if the board slipped in above him, a retiree who has his name on one of the stands at The Valley?

I don't know about all of you, but if it was me, I'd take it as the writing being on the wall...

And a bit of a kick in the 'nads...

People are rightly stating he was the one who gave us Appleton.
But We'd also do well to remember he single handedly cast Holden upon us.
A bizarre choice who's obvious lack of experience shone through once the nice bloke, new manager bounce wore off.
Come on, Charlie’s must’ve been involved in the Appleton appointment too, especially with the Oxford connection. The gutless way Methven tries to distance himself from any of his decisions is worrying. We need strong leaders to get us out of this league.
CM has no say in the footballing side of the club, he looks after the business side

In Politics and in the house of Commons Ronnie, they simply say:

I refer you to my earlier Answer.

Apologies for mentioning Politics on CL 😄

I have never understood what Scott, Rodwell and Methven would be doing all day (apart from collecting a wage from our season ticket money).
Is there a compelling argument as to why any of them are at the club at all?
If, say, Rodwell arrives at work at 9am, and is totally absorbed in club business until 5pm (with time off in lieu to cover extra hours on match days) with a lunch break and two other breaks in the day then fair enough.
I am prepared to work shadow (whilst taking notes) either Methven or Rodwell for a week and will report back here on Charlton life what the work is like.

I suspect they find the work very rewarding.

It was Andy Scott who highlighted our extraordinary volume of injuries, especially soft tissue ones, and completely reorganised the setup to improve our record in this area. He explained this in great detail when he was our guest at Bromley Addicks in December 2023. This and the introduction of Dr Will Abbott appear to have made a big difference, and we now find ourselves at a crucial point in the season with an almost completely fit squad. Let us at least give him some credit for that.
Alright bloke. Not right for us

A Director of Football noticed we got tonnes of injuries? I mean, everyone on this forum identified that months/years before he joined.

Yes, of course, but the point I am making is that he did something about it, and we are now reaping the benefit.

Absolutely, the amount of injuries we've had has been somewhat of a running joke for a long time. If he is the one to have actually solved that then full credit to him for it.

Does it mean he hasn't also made some mistakes or that he should not have been moved on, not really.

But still deserves to be credited for the bits he did get right.

Well quite, but on this site where hatred never sleeps, he'll forever be labelled a fraud.

I had to Google it as never heard of them.

Global Football Holdings is a proven ownership group dedicated to bringing significant resources and comprehensive experience to elevate football clubs.

The US-based limited partnership includes a group of experienced investors and senior executives from football and the wider sports industry.

Global Football Holdings is a co-owner of FC Augsburg from the German Bundesliga, and a majority owner of Estoril Praia from the Portuguese Primeira Liga and SK Beveren from the Belgian First Division B.

Isn't Global Football Holding the David Blitzer (part owner of Palace) run group? Interesting move.

Hopefully Scott will encourage Palace to bring in Michael Appleton as manager.

It is. I wonder if it is also the “US sports investment” business that Charlie is supposed to be joining, in addition to the amount Pleasant role in Jamaica.

Yeah Scott replacing Dougie Freedman is quite the downgrade if he has anything to do with Palace.

Not sure why a group like this would bring in someone like Scott when they currently are only majority shareholders at European clubs.

What is it with our club and people associated with our club and networks.

Obviously have to take a lot of what he says with a pinch of salt but if that £450k figure is correct it's very impressive as Ramsay, Gillesphey and Godden all commanded a fee. I don't believe that's all down to Scott as Methven is suggesting but it's certainly shrewd business from the club
