Wait, what we were effectively lied to at the  recent Fans Meeting / event? That surely can’t  be right…😉😆

Well yes that has to be good but I suspect his contract will have severance terms so
    maybe not an immediate saving.

Appointment timing ofhis replacement will demonstrate that I suppose.

I wonder what these "other opportunities that have been made available" to him are?

He says he’s exploring new opportunities. If so why would severance pay be involved? Unless you are suggesting he’s lying and he’s actually been sacked?

Scott and Rodwell gone would make for an interesting restructuring. Wonder if Phil Chapple fancies coming back from Luton?

That is where I’d put my money.
In which case do you  mean perhaps Gavin Carter is flexing his muscles ?

No idea who has been handling player negotiations but if Rodwell also left and with Small having a new agent there’s a chance it might be possible to make a breakthrough

Thank God Methven is still here or I don't know who we'd have left to yell at. I don't think Scott did a good job but it doesn't massively help that his first proper window without any external forces he ended up having to buy players for Appleton just as he decided he fancied a switch to 3421 and needed ball-playing centre halves and controlling midfielders. He ended up bringing in Gillesphey and REG who were right for whatever Appleton reckoned he wanted but not for Jones. Neither a disaster either though. He got in Conor Coventry amid some competition which will be his best achievement as well. Bakinson did his job in getting us through the rest of the season. Fiorini was obviously a daft Appleton choice and I don't think anyone expected Ladapo to be that bad.

In the end though he'll be defined by his idea of football in L1 being that you just needed the most elegant footballers available and the physical hard workers were beneath him, leading to him trying to force Dobson out and ultimately succeeding. There was some crossover over the summer as they didn't come in until late July but he wouldn't have bought May without Holden's insistence and Lloyd Jones was very much a Gallen signing. You've got to laugh that a man with that mindset had a manager come in whose entire footballing philosophy is about being so fit and strong that you can run at other people for 90+ minutes and almost nothing else. Not a particularly nice bloke to work with by all accounts and all he can say in his time with us was he made one very good signing. Not a great record, bye.

Hiring Appleton was Scott’s choice though, so he deserves no sympathy really. Every window he was responsible for was a disaster and he made one of the worst managerial appointments in our history bringing us to the brink of relegation to the 4th tier. He should have been long gone but good to see it’s finally happened and we can get a competent replacement in to start planning for the summer
Oh I agree, no sympathy from me whatsoever. Absolute disasterpiece of a performance with us

I guess if he has in fact given notice then he would leave after 3 months or possibly less? Unless the club has agreed an immediate release.

But we were told only a few weeks back he was actively working and part of the January transfer window etc.

Who knows. We won’t be told I’m sure.

Not sure he will be replaced. Clearly NJ is in charge of identifying players and Rodwell is meant to be running the football side which must mean keeping an eye on academy staff/structure etc. Not sure what else is left for a technical director?

I don’t know about that. This has been coming a while. I do know that Rodwell has been looking for other opportunities.
