A totally dominant second half performance saw us home to a thoroughly convincing win, with a final scoreline that, quite frankly, flattered Stevenage.
They generally found their men better than us for a chunk of the first half, without creating much in front of goal, save for AMB’s excellent one-on-one save at their forward’s feet when he was clean through. Alex Revell in that interview saying Berry's goal was "preventable"..., you were undone by a brilliantly created and taken goal, just own up to it man ffs...fool. In the end they were running around like headless chickens, you were beaten mate, and you just can't accept it...🤷♂️
They all say it, every goal conceded is preventable. Of course they are but if they all were it would be coconuts every week and the table would look very strange.
Met a couple of Dutch tourists in the Fans Bar pre match. First visit for them. “It will be an easy win for Charlton, no?” They suggested. I replied unlikely as we rarely do things the easy way. Then bumped into them at the station afterwards and congratulated them on being correct. Only problem was they missed the first goal by leaving before end of first half to go to loo then stayed drinking their beers and missed the second goal too!
Embedded in the sea of freebies by us in the East were 3 groups of European blokes on tourist trips, must be 30 in total of the three groups. All arrived around 10 mins late, all went out back before 40 mins, all late back 2nd half (63 mins one group of 12), all left well before the end.
all that effort and miss both goals in a 2-0 win. Every single one of them 🤷♂️
Don’t think it’s been mentioned but highlight of the game has got to be when Tyreece Campbell started running down the wing and Nutjob Nathan started sprinted alongside him 🤣
AMB MoM for two game changing moments. That save was next level and the type of goalkeeping promotion winning teams rely upon; the other game changer was stopping play so that Nathan could talk to the rest of the team. I know AMB was probably told to do it but I suspect the rest of the team were also told not to keep wasting passes and to put Stevenage on the back foot but up until that point they clearly weren’t doing what they’d been told. He did. So did they after that.

He's absolutely barmy. I watched on the box yesterday and could actually hear him clear as day yelling instructions sometimes.
I would love them to stick a gopro on his head and monitor his heart rates. Would be content.
I reckon when he goes home after the game his brain is wired.
Time for us as fans to step up now. The players deserve to see less empty seats and more noise from the stands.
Agreed , Stevenage made all the noise for the first hour , we had zero personality . This team effort and results wise is brilliant , performance wise it’s not quite hitting the spot as greedy as id like but in all honesty I just don’t think the appetite is there for a 12.30 or midweek match and 95% of fixtures in this league are just dull and don’t get the juices flowing for your on the fence punter .
A game of 2 halves well not quite but the amount of shit passing in the first half hour or so was appalling but then we clicked and it was comfortable with some real class shown from the golden old un Godden . I watched Stevenage warm up and their shooting was pathetic against their keeper and I was fully confident they wouldn’t score. Ordered a Chicken Pie in the lower west didn’t realise it was Balti which was reasonable but with my inner workings only half was consumed cos I didn’t want to risk a 💩 at football . nicked 2 wickets and a run out in indoor cricket and finished that early so nabbed a lift with the family who picked me up on The way through from Leytonstone.
Back to sisters/mums afterwards with Mrs , boys, nieces and nephew and nailed a chicken and mushroom pie from Vintage although cos of early kick off had done 2 crumpets 3 sausage rolls and some French bread and a ton of butter on it all as soon as we got there . Fell asleep on mums bed as her and petrol head waffled about the game and any old shit . Good times

Absolutely buzzing after watching Nutter Nathan tear it up after TC along the touchline! My son and I had the perfect view from the East Stand, and I swear, that man is running on either triple-shot espressos or something a little more explosive—he just does not stop! God help Mrs. Jones when he gets home… she’s probably chucking him straight in an ice bath!
These are exciting times, but hey, this is Charlton—so who knows? Still, something tells me we could be on the verge of a run to end all runs! And I’m fully strapped in for Nutter Nathan’s thrill ride to the Championship!
17 games to go, and it all leads to a massive showdown at WW—where we’ll have to go toe-to-toe with Wycombe and Wrexham away. Who knows if we can squeeze into rocket ship straight into Championship or Play Offs, maybe just maybe this is our season.

This and also witnessed a funny moment from my perch in the NL. Late in the 2nd half the CE started Ole-ing a spell of passing aroukdd the back. He started waving his arms manically and shouting NOOOOO! towards them!
Agree. Always interesting when you hear how a neutral sees things. When we went 2-0 up he said something like, ‘That’s game over for me. I can’t see Stevenage scoring’. Imagine a Charlton fan saying that.
Also there’s a section on there that really shows us peppering their goal in the second half. Good stuff.

And due to the disaster which is the Fans’ Bar catering, I didn’t realise we had today, until I saw the highlights. What a goal that was! Godden regularly outjumped their much taller centre backs, for which he deserves serious kudos. Fantastic strike by TC, and a superb volleyed finish by Berry. Would like to see better camera angles of that in the fuller highlights.
I was definitely expecting a much tougher game yesterday, but it really was an excellent team performance; and it’ll be unusually hard to predict the older in the players marks thread. Three or four of them could be man of the match, but I suspect Coventry, Jones or AMB will just shade it. I was a bit meh about Cov earlier in the season, but I’m fully converted now. I’ll feel sorry for whoever comes bottom in the stats. Ramsay for me is still our ‘highest level’ player, and we need to hang on to him if we get promoted. Let’s hope he doesn’t do a Patrick Bauer and find a new club pre playoffs. (I always wonder if Bauer regretted his move at any time before we lost momentum - after Gallagher’s unfortunate departure).

My only regret? Not noticing Nathan’s race with TC, footage of which I’d love to see! And for anyone in line for a cataract operation, don’t hesitate. The difference it makes when watching football is amazing. 🙂

Much as I prefer to go to the games,I am 80 ,wife 78,we live in Medway 60 mile round trip,have to get there early to get parked and then 15 minutes from ground,all in the freezing cold and pissing down.I do feel guilty about not going,but when the games are on TV,the thought of no travelling and in the warm ,no walk up Church Lane afterwards,is just too tempting.
