  • Chuks really isn't bringing anything these days.  I love the talisman he's become but he just isn't vfm.  It might be time to say goodbye.  Isn't he out of contract this year?  Why oh why was Leaburn not brought on instead?
Bringing on Miles on NINETY FIVE minutes with just ONE remaining...WTF was that all about ? What the heck was his remit !

Surely NO player could be expected to do anything positive at that point. Set up to fail comes to mind...

Someone posted earlier that NJ was screaming at the player at the final whistle which is very concerning IMO.

I agree that something doesn't sound right, sadly.

Maybe Leaburn told him he should have put him on earlier ha ha ha

Blackpool have the 3rd worst home form in the division - albeit they've drawn their last five.    At 2-0 up with 20 mins to go, we need to be filthy time wasting cheats, like they were at our gaff.    Nastier at times we need to be and a little more "professional" about it.   Anything to get out of this awful division!

We thought at the time he was brought on specifically to add some additional height for a free kick for us in a dangerous area. We thought it was a good idea.

We had a free kick which was likely to be the last action of the game. Jones took off Coventry and brought on Miles for extra height. The game went on a little past that but I'm sure that was the intent. It made sense to me.

Can't understand why Godden was subbed at all on around 60 mins. And for Aneke when we're two up!?!
I kind of get that one, but didn’t understand the TC / Kanu one. TC still had energy, was settled in the game and doing well. It felt early to be changing that.

With a subs bench of 3 strikers, 2 RCBs and Anderson, we are so limited in sub options we can make. Aneke / Leaburn is the same option and Mitchell / Edmonds Green is the same option.
Brownie thought TC may have been limping slightly so perhaps had a bit of a knock.

I think, at the time, Jones thought the match was won (naively, after being a Charlton fan for what feels like 8,000 years now, so did I). If it was in doubt I think we would have made different changes, possibly including brining Leaburn on. Instead I think we chose to rest him rather than risk him when the three points were a seeming foregone conclusion. Fate makes a fool of us all.

If we said this time last month we'd be in this position we'd have been over the moon about it. But 2 nil up with 16 minutes to play is gutting, let's be honest.

It was a good point think 95% of Charlton fans would have taken that point before the game … the turning point and the mistake that cost was the subs …. Godden was causing all sorts of problems why change it in 63 mins it disrupted us and they scored pretty soon after .. scoring early they were always fav to get a point or even win it … sorry but Kanu can go out on loan not good enough ….. but it’s a good point , you don’t want to move into top 6 to early .

mistaken substitutions cost us 2 points .. replacing 2 attackers with 2 more attackers when 2-0 up smacks of either arrogance or incompetence, bringing on either REG or Mitchell in place of either Chuks or Kanu would have shored up our defence and allowed less space and opportunity for Blackpool
However, it was a very decent and exciting game. Their right back, number 24 Offiah, son of Martin 'Chariots' (ex Rugby League and Union superstar) runs as fast as his dad ever did, i m o he played a big part in their comeback. Good fun afternoon other than our late lack of concentration. Our good run continues

Please please please try and be positive lads. Yes it’s disappointing but a point on the road keeps us on track and we haven’t suddenly become shit.
some poor decisions today but onwards and upwards
To be honest, we've been shit for most of the season, barring a few performances. Being 2 nil up on 74 mins and not winning is pretty poor. I think we're fortunate to have something to play for this season.
I agree. Lots of ifs & buts but the table would look a lot different if........

    • We had conceded in injury time against Shrewsbury when they had a good chance to score. instead they missed and we somehow scored a last minute winner.

    • We had drawn against Bolton instead of grabbing a deflected goal. We could have even lost that one too having gone a goal behind - we usually do in those circumstances.

I know all teams can say that but it's not like we have been pulling up trees during this little run. Before the last 4 games we lost heavily to Rotherham & draw 0-0 with Reading. We have been poor in patches and average for most of the rest.
It’s all swings and roundabouts. We should have won at Barnsley, should have won today, even the Reading game you mention we deserved to win. On the flip side as you say we got have easily lost at Bolton and Shrewsbury but we didn’t. Every team in this league, any league, can make the same arguments. At the end of the day it is what it is. At the end of the season the league table doesn’t lie, you finish where you deserve to finish.

Jones tried to bring on fresh legs which has worked for us previously. Fair enough really. God, there are some overreactions going on here tonight.
Aneke though doesn’t have 30 plus minutes of fresh legs in him anymore. Unfortunately he’s a shadow of his former self.

Not a bad result but very frustrating after going 2 up. Thought he made the subs too early. Were hanging on a bit towards the end but had a chance at the death. Not sure what Leaburn was trying to do, should have just gone for it but in fairness he’d only been on for a couple of minutes.

    Great post!

Will Jones be apologising for bad substitutions or will he blame everyone else like normal.

The chap on the right has got some sort of anti hero glasses. It’s possibly Epilation-man judging by the carnage he’s wrought across those around him. Evil bastard.

Blackpool were a good team and they were a match for us but we should have held on for the win after going 2-0 up. That flattered us a bit at the time and most teams would have crumbled after that. But Steve Bruce is a canny campaigner and his subs just worked better than ours. I wouldn’t be too hard on our team or the subs. On most days we would have won that. And, we’re in a good position with 2 winnable home games coming up.
Just call it a bad day at the office today although a point away at Blackpool is not a bad result. We played well although it was a bad mistake by Gillespie for their equaliser.

Must say i'm getting more convinced that Chuks has passed his sell by date, and really is not up to even his usual last 20 minutes impact role anymore, he was totally invisible  when he came on along with Kanu.
Really don't know what's going on with Leaburn, that is really a strange one...
Thought this about Chuks for a while.
Missed a few chance this season, no longer fast, bad timing for headers, wrong decisions

    At the game.
Two individual errors led to goals imo, The first from Docherty when the player turned him and raced away, the second by Gillesphie.
However, Ofiah was immense going forward and they had some other very good chances to score.Their attacking options were vastly improved with their two Championship loan substitutions.
Their assistant manager, Steve Agnew, said he thought we were a strong side and Stan Ternant, ex Blackpool manager, thought we controlled the midfield. Some other Blackpool fans I spoke to also thought we were one of the better teams they have faced.
All things considered, we are improving, and hopefully, we are setting ourselves up for a good second half of the season.
Still gutted we didn't hold on though.
