I'd have taken a draw before the game, but not at 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go.
Doesn't matter how you dress it up. No quality additions for an entire window is criminal.
And although we have 5 strikers (if you don't count Hylton) 1 is currently injured, 1 can only play 20 mins & today showed he can't even do that, 1 has been out injured for a long time & has only really shown he's back "on form" for a couple of games and has now been rested for the past 2 games and 1 has missed a lot of the season & by all acounts should be loaned out to gain more experience..
Thank god for Matty Godden. If he gets injured then we will be back wondering where the goals are going to come from.
Gillespie does appear to be emulating Michael Hector and Naby Sarr, where for much of the game he looks confident and assured and can pick ut the odd Sarr-esque diagonal pass, but too many basic errors or lapses in concentration have led to big chances/goals. I'm sure other clubs must have similar players.
I think he's worth persevering with, but I also liked the aforementioned players. But any more errors like that and I'm not sure how patient the manager will be.
Slept on it and I am still happy with the point. I think what softens the blow is the form we have showed recently. That should give everybody some leeway and we should be happy that we are now level on points with sixth place. That is a massive milestone that some of us were hoping might happen towards the end of the season if at all. I think they have done good business in the window and offensively, they are as good as anybody at this level. I still think Aneke's goal should have stood but I have this annoyance that refs seem to reward the weaker player when being a lot stronger isn't a foul.
As an aside. I went to primary school with Martin Offiah. He was the year below me and his brother Cyril was a year older and his sister Nina was in the same year. He was a bit naughty and his parents couldn't cope, or something like that, I don't know the full details and he was sent to boarding school, where they played Rugby and I think that might have been the making of him.
I do think Offiah was a stand out for them and it mitigated our threat. Pace and power is a fantastic attribute at this level and it is IMO a big reason why we have had such an upturn in form. TC did well considering Offiah was as quick as him which isn't going to happen often. Lloyd Jones made an error and got away with it. Gillesphey is fine for this level. Yes, there is a question mark for the level above, but let's get there first.
I'd have taken a draw before the game, but not at 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go.

The window is not closed, surely we would all prefer one or two in who genuinely improve us than signing 3-4 who don’t?
Definitely and it is of course harder the better you are. A couple who do genuinely improve us would be massive but if we can't get them we still have the potential to go up. One who will definitely improve us would be good.
Wasn’t there, didn’t watch on a dodgy stream so can only go on the match thread. On the face of it a good point and would have taken it all day long at 3pm. But when you are 2-0 up with 20 to go you can’t help but feel a bit deflated.
I said after the last game that Chuks effectiveness is wearing thin now and the last game showed he’s lost all his pace and he’s ok as a human battering ram for the last ten minutes only when you are desperate for a goal and he can cause chaos and created chances for others. I was amazed he got thirty minutes today.
And what is the lack of game time for Miles the last two games?
The subs are shocking.
We are at a point where TC is so important we can't really afford to sub him, as him and Small are our only real direct threats.
As soon as he comes off, teams at the back get more comfortable. I never could have guessed how impactful TC would become in this role, don't think anyone could have.
Chuks has been shoddy most of the time he's played this season. Gets away with it cause he's a fan favourite. He's been slow, wasting chances and isn't winning his duels as comfortable as he used to do.
As for Leaburn God knows, I thought he seemed alright but something must be up if he isn't getting more game time today.
I like Chuks but those wages could be so much better off elsewhere, if we had a like for like for TC, Blackpool could have never got that comfortable, was the same as Bristol Rovers. Him coming off makes teams change it up a bit.
I don’t see the point of taking off TC. When we have Small and TC playing, the opposition frequently double-up defenders or even put three players on them, which leaves them vulnerable at the back.
Disappointed not to have won after being 2 nil up. But a few short weeks ago we were 14th in the league with seemingly nothing to play for. We are now 7th in the league with two home games coming up. Now is the time for our owners to bring in one or two players who can get us over the line. It would be a big mistake not to strengthen and just mis out.
Since when has it no longer been the JANUARY transfer window? When does it end now?
In what part of my post do I mention January. I'm fully aware when the window shuts
Oooooooh. Sorry for asking.🤷 Edit: 3 likes for your grumpiness too. I suppose you would each reply 'Google it - bellend’. Apologies to all for my ignorance
It’s disappointing we didn’t hold on to the lead but teams that want to challenge right to the last second of the season, which may well be at Wembley, can collectively learn lessons and become stronger from dropping points they realise they shouldn’t have dropped. It’s all about having belief they can and win every game from now on in.

I think TC is looking a little tired. Hope he gets some R&R over the next week.
Correction: I typed up the page that Odel Offiah, the Blackpool right back (on loan from Brighton & Hove), is Martin Offiah's son. Fact is, Martin is his uncle
If you’d be told me we’d currently be 6 points off 4th place with a game in hand, at the end of October, I’d tell you you’re a crank. We are getting playoffs.
It may feel like a loss after being 2 up but it wasn't and Blackpool are the draw specialists at home. Leaburn and Kanu together would've been the best pairing to come on in the 60+ minutes if both TC and Godden needed to come off and not Chuks who just can't close down the opposition as he is struggling to run now.
Decent saves by AMB to stop CAFC being 1 or 2 down before Godden got another poacher's goal around the six yard box and the OG from TC cross.
Feel gutted like everyone that 3 points weren't brought back to London but we are in the mix and despite conceding 4 against Rotherham our season is still alive after 10 points in 4 games and not dead as a dodo if the Bolton and Shrewsbury games had a different ending.
Just for once let's try not to be too negative despite certain short comings of this squad over the 90+ minutes of matches.
When was the last time we were in contention coming into February, I wrote off the last two seasons by the begining of October..
We did not lose and we picked up a point away from home. Between now and the end of the season we will have highs and lows, and whilst losing a two goal lead is a bit of a shit, it has not trashed our season and we remain in the mix.
Hopefully we will see a couple of incomings tomorrow to give us a bit of a Jim Melrose effect, but if not we will have to just get on with it and back this group.
We are a work in progress, compared to last season and compared to last autumn. We have progressed, we may not get promotion this season, I know some said that they would accept nothing less, but realistically a play off place would be an achievement and compared to last season so would top 10.
The table looks more than good for the shit spot and performances we have come from but tugging off for a point away at 13th in League One has never been for me . Luckily I fell asleep for 90% of the first half and awoke at ht and the highlights just showed a few Blackpool attacks . Second we got the two goals in front through the og (great work from TC) and Godden who is a top poacher , his last couple are due to him being wise enough to know our players shots are shit and off target more often than not and he guides them home . If he could share his brain with the rest of them we’d piss this league . The lack of accuracy with our passing is horrific at times , Coventrys slide rule 20 yard pass that was 20 yards away from the target but it was forward so it’s out of his comfort zone . Coventrys work rate the best of our lot is beyond impressive , we graft like anything and full respect for that, a big shift is always put in . AMB is just nothingy as a keeper I’d probably take any other league one keeper, he offers nothing extra . Kanu has never looked a comfortable footballer to me and needs to go and play regularly elsewhere for the good of his career cos bit parts here and therefor us aren’t seeing him improve (yes I know he’s been injured) . Love some of Smalls magic , he feels like he’s close to being a decent player but not quite there yet . NJ was tearing in to Miles at the end who of course had done a pathetic pass but he’d been on the pitch no time whatsoever, let’s hope it’s just the norm and the players know it’s nut job firing off losing it before hopefully he calms down and addresses the issues in a more humane way . Play Offs are there for the taking , let’s buy some quality for a change and give ourselves the best opportunity rather than boring us with excuses. Losing money owning Charlton is a cert so roll the dice and get some enjoyment out of it at least and if not why bother purchasing us in the first place cos there is no magic trick that turns us in to an exciting football team and a money making business.

Because he's knackered mate you could see it vs Bristol Rovers, was proper blowing and walking everywhere. It would be nice if we had an option who could replace him so we didn't have to run him in to the ground, but..
As for AMB, he is a good shot stopper but the first took a slight deflection which took him tantalisingly away from him. He made a couple of good saves and I am more than happy with him in goal. The issue yesterday was thay had a lot of tall players and I think it is wise to be a bit circumspect off your line in those instances.

This is still troubling me today. It's really bad management, in any profession. You don't bawl out one employee for a single error in front of all the other employees. Still less in front of all the customers (there and possibly on TV, though I didn't see it on the stream), and even less with a young and inexperienced employee who has been struggling to deliver recently.
And even less when that inexperienced employee was only workin due to an equally bad individual error by another far more experienced employee and arguably because of decisions made by the boss earlier
I don't see any reason why football is an exception to this iron rule. On the contrary since most of the assets of a football club business are human, it seems to me even more important that you follow that rule.
I do think it's odd he didn't go in ahead of Kanu and Leaburn.
Maybe Jones was fuming as he knows he's off and his last play was a half arsed pass rather than showing something.
Just to make it clear before anyone loses their mind as per, just a thought. As nothing else is going on to discuss that we know of.
I did wonder if there was more to it as well.
Kanu going in ahead of Leaburn made sense to me, we’d lost width with TC and as we saw, Kanu peels out there better than Miles. Bit considerate on that pass, that wasn't half arsed, that was disgraceful.

You mean Kanu and Aneke?.
But I don't think that is so odd. Sticking Aneke on when he did is odd, that much is true. And I agree that it's been right to leave Miles on the bench. Not just form, but because he isa young player returning from a serious injury, which can take months to get over completely.
I hope I am not proved wrong but if he was off, he would have gone already or at least someone would have picked up signals.
Here's another thought. Which other player has Jones very publicly criticised on the pitch so that a lot of fans see it? Alfie May? Oh....
Correction: I typed up the page that Odel Offiah, the Blackpool right back (on loan from Brighton & Hove), is Martin Offiah's son. Fact is, Martin is his uncle
Martin's son Tyler has just signed a professional contract with Spurs. His other son plays Rugby for Bath I believe.
I do think it's odd he didn't go in ahead of Kanu and Leaburn.

Kanu made sense as he closes down well and offers something with his pace. Aneke coming on with 30 mins to spare seemed odd. It's never really worked for us.
I'm trying not to be too harsh? Same as on Gillesphey with the clearance situation.

If he's injured or not ready, he shouldn't even be on the bench, if he's a risk.
The cynic in me says something might be up. I find Jones reaction too odd. Why sub on a player at 90 minutes and when he makes a mistake lose his mind. Ok what Leaburn did was terrible, but was it worth that reaction?
As you say he showed public signs of irritation at May and we know how that ended.

Aneke is not a great option when you need to maintain a press and hit them on the counter. A very strange sub.
I do think Kanu will end up playing at this level, however he needs consistent game time and has to bulk up a bit.

Need to worry now about Stevenage and the poxy early kick off next Saturday.
