    I’m not sure players are that bothered. It’s not like they get much time off over Christmas anyway. As a fan I’d have been happy to go and watch us tonight. Far too much dead time waiting for the big day.

    The last year of football on Christmas Day was 1957.It was quite common to play on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

    Don’t know if that was a regular thing but it did happen a lot I believe. Seen some strange results too, lose 6-0 away then the next day win 6-0 at home.

    Interesting appointment. Would expect them to try and play a similar style to Brighton which could be risky.

    Peterborough are in dreadful form but McAnthony will never sack Fergie Jr because he can only work with him or Grant McCann.

    Tbf it’s about time that they brought McCann back - he’s doing a decent job in League 2 with Doncaster…

    Fergie Jnr usually resigns or has a mutual departure, rather than get sacked, so that could happen again.

    5th and 6th are completely open. I'd be amazed if Stockport without Barry, and Reading without a new owner, stay there.

    Seems to enjoy playing at Wigan after getting a couple of goals there last season too
