Not the greatest quality but I think the terrible pitch played a part in that. 10 out of 10 for endeavour from our whole team today. Why have we not seen more of that? Wycombe were a disappointment. Just shows that this league is generally poor. We have been pants for the most part but the playoffs suddenly seem possible. Funny old game.
Good, they were only off it because we set up to stop them yet still counter attacked. The starting 11 for WW, may become clear when the window opens.
I disagree the 1st half was a yawn fest. I was so impressed with our shape and the way we limited Wycombe.
Excellent 2nd half where we played with nous and gave passes for Leaburn and Campbell to run on to.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first half and loved the second half.9 -

Their number 2 was a disgrace, always in the refs ear, constantly moaning, fouling etc. Their number 3 was the worst, he nearly snapped Miles’ wrist (well that’s what it looked like from the north lower). Horrible team who got everything they deserved today. We stood up well to them, didn’t allow their bullying tactics to work. Although miles did go after that no. 3 after the incident and got a yellow!0

Carries on the way he is, and he is destined for the championship, minimum.
Also thought Caleb Taylor was really good for them today who I think we were linked with before? Those two stood out for me.3 -

Probably the best part of today is that Bakinson not only didn't score, but he had an absolute stinker5

Can't remember the last time we won two home games back to back. And typical couldn't make either due to transport and work commitments but managed to watch on a stream.
Keep it going 7th now.
I've only read/heard the complete opposite.
But I missed the posts of people wanting Leaburn to leave.2 -

Hugely enjoyable game. Decent performance in the first half, very good in the second half and a good atmosphere throughout. The improving trend in both performances and results continues.4

You said he'd nearly snapped his wrist, which you've since admitted was over the top.
So where is the dig, sly or otherwise?3 -
So good to see us turning the corner.
I think NJ is sufficiently irritated by us questioning him it may work in our favour.
Great win.1 -
If we are to have any chance of the play offs, which still seems unlikely but possible, we have to keep Leaburn, Small , Jones (especially), Ramsay (don't know what Ramsay's contract is). Extend their contracts and pay them !!3

Brown59 said:What a piss poor pitch. I thought it was meant to be a state of the art pitch with this new stitch together grass. I know the ladies play on it as well but it shouldn’t look like that 5 months in. It’s only going to get worse. As for the game what a great battling display by everyone. That’s how we should try and play every week. I’m not sure we will be able to hang on to Lloyd Jones as his contract is up in June and today's opponents are looking to sign him. If they don’t offer him a decent contract he will be gone and we will be playing catch up in the transfer market. But you know what this board of directors are like. But well done Charlton let’s enjoy the moment. He is such a key member of the team I’ll be gutted if he goes, but if he does it’s vital he’s replaced by someone equally aerially dominant.2

Also some of their lot seem to have let their high position go to their head. Don't think I've ever read such crap about why they lost from any other team.

During the game their response to "Top of the league, your having a laugh" being "Premier League and you fucked it up"" was laughable, presumably the next verse would be " FA Cup winners and you fucked it up".2 -
200k was definitely the highlight of the day, it had me chuckling throughout the second half of the match thread.9

SporadicAddick said:LoOkOuT said:Wycombe arrived at the Valley this festive season having only lost one on the road all campaign, full of confidence and sitting second in the table. But Charlton have been performing well over the holiday period themselves, starting with the same eleven that have won back-to-back victories. The two sides pushed and pulled for the first half hour with Charlton having the better of the opportunities and Wycombe looking organised but contained. Luke Berry had a couple of chances in that period, one of which he should have done better with, but it was Miles Leaburn who picked up where he left off to open the scoring. Another Josh Edward’s long throw caused issues and Leaburn stuck his leg out past his man to drive in his first goal of the afternoon on forty six minutes to take the Addicks into the lead going into halftime.
The second half started with the Addicks building in confidence. On fifty-two minutes Leaburn struck again as he broke free into the Wycombe half and, seeing the keeper in no-man’s land, skillfully lobbed the ball over and down into the back of the net to put Charlton two to the good.
Charlton were in complete control and Wycombe looked devoid of ideas. Leaburn, tired and on a yellow, was taken off for Ahadme, with Karoy Anderson also coming on to refresh the centre of the pitch. Wycombe had made quite a few changes themselves at that point looking for a bit of inspiration. That came from Richard Kone, Wycombe’s top scorer, who found himself with space in the box and curled a shot past Maynard-Brewer to set up a tense final fifteen minutes. In hindsight, Wanderer’s supporters will surely be asking why he had been rested. While Wycombe gained confidence from the goal, it proved only a consolation as Charlton were determined to see out the good performance with all three points.
We’ve returned to being well organised at the back and difficult to beat. And we’re now scoring more freely. The squad should have a bit of confidence going into the back end of the season, poised to make a playoff push. Three wins on the bounce take us up into seventh place in the table, up from eleventh before kickoff. So, all in all, the Addicks are finally pointed in the right direction. Will we be in a position to strengthen in January to ensure things stay that way?
Charlton 2 Wycombe 1
Over to you.
A great end to Christmas schedule.2 - Sponsored links:

Replaceable? We would more likely replace him with another Stockley.
Utterly fanciful to suggest we’ll be able to easily pickup someone with his broad range of physical and technical strengths, especially so when we are stuck at this level. If by some miracle we did then, at the very least, we would have to expect they will be even more raw than Leaburn is.
Our best hope is that he sees the value of seeing out this season to get plenty of game time to get over his injury and continue to learn how to deal with clogging centre halves. IF we can get promoted with him, then we might be able to get another year from him at Championship level, or maybe a loan back deal from whichever bigger team eventually picks him up.
I seriously question the judgement of anyone who can’t see that this boy is well on course for a Premier League gig within the next year or so (and maybe much sooner).12 -
queensland_addick said:The big difference for me over the past few games has been Berry playing as the advanced midfielder.
He should have scored today and put the lovely ball through to Leaburn.
He's always looking to get in and around the box and looking to get shots away.2 -
Miles smiles after all.

I haven't read any of the previous pages. Back to back to back wins now and against a good team. Leaburn took his goals well, I thought the first one being the better, a strikers goal. There was a decent cross and then he has to get his body in there with a nice touch. Everyone always, including myself, likes goals like the second. Nice ball through, beats the offside, a sort of one on one with a defender and then lobs the keeper from the corner of the box. I'm sure that was not easy and Leaburn showed good skill and composure but what the heck was their keeper doing? He could not make a challenge and he certainly left a huge target behind him. I don't know if I'd say he was our best striker, I would probably say he is our only real striker.
As its Monday morning and I feel like a moan, what the heck is wrong with that pitch? That company that was on the main site and posted on here back in the summer was supposed to be experts. They should have left the old one down and grown a few dandelions, at least the pitch would have been green.0 -
And as the post match thread meanders to its usual close, in the bywaters and cul de sacs of pitch maintenance and interfan rivalry based on grudges going back to 2010 and references to players not seen since 1999, we say goodbye once again, eagerly awaiting the New Year and what must surely be a cracking match against Crawley.

I feel for AMB. Playing behind a decent defence instead of that crock of rubbish we had last year he looks a perfectly decent keeper at this level. But sadly there are some who just seemingly want to continue to criticise no matter what he does.2
