The goalkeeper is a crucial piece of any defensive unit. Mannion deserves huge credit for the part he’s playing in our start to the season.19

Everything he does he does very well, can't see a keeper coming in and displacing him now unless they're of real quality

Only negative for me so far is he’s taken the same path as Terrel Thomas in using #UTA instead of #cafc on his twitter posts. When that’s the only moan you have about a player he shouldn’t be being replaced4

Whoever comes in has a serious battle on their hands
yes he hasnt been tested much but just looks so confident and calm at all times cant remember the last time a goalkeeper of ours gave that vibe of just cool calm and collected and it rubs off on everyone else
seriously impressed3 -

Let's hope Jones can coach this out of him

Did well today I thought, some very good saves made and looked pretty confident and decisive which no doubt gives the CBs a real boost too.
I know we were looking at at least one more keeper to come in over summer but it really does look like providence has handed us a decent No. 1 on current evidence.13 -
First chance today to really judge him. In previous games he’s just had very little to do and probably his stand out moment before today was getting caught in possession against Reading and Ramsay bailing him out.Thought he did well today and made a couple of good saves to go with commanding his area well and solid kicking.4

I’ll be honest I’m still unsure , yes they were decent saves with his feet particularly but the finishing was woeful and there’s nothing he’s done that makes me think promotion or pony keeper , he’s probably in between
id give him 7/10 so far , he’s deffo our no.1 for now at least5 -

I know someone who spoke to the coaches at QPR for their views on Begovic
concensus on Begovic was he was on the way down. Reflexes were “gone” and his star definitely waning
they also suggested we already had a far better keeper in Mannion.20 -
Did Mannion make a difference to the number of points we achieved at Shrewsbury yesterday?
In my view he certainly did.
When was the last time we can say our goalkeeper made something like that happen?5 -
Really good move from his point of view - pay rise you'd assume, then thought he'd probably be second choice but we failed to bring anyone else in and now he's playing regularly!0

Brownie made more than one complimentary comment about him coming out and collect those crosses/ corners.
Just looks so assured and confident that he's going to get it every time.

He's done well since he's come in, I'm not entirely convinced he's Championship level but he's not disgraced himself and he's settled well.
At the very least it's good to have two keepers who can both legitimately vie for the first choice role instead of having a clear No. 1 and a "back up"6 - Sponsored links:

I think AMB shades shot stopping but Mannion shades command of his box. Both are better than are given credit for IMO. Somebody said after the Orient game that we should look at their keeper if he can avoid the two errors he made against us that cost goals. That was funny.6

I feel much more relaxed at corners and crosses into our box with Manion than I do when AMB is there, he terrifies me and must be a nightmare for our defenders knowing that your keeper isn’t going to come for any high balls7

Some Will Mannion related trivia....
I was talking to an old mate at a funeral recently and it turns out that....
a) I knew Will Mannion's Dad socially in the mid to late 80s....a real character and somewhat of a practical joker.
b) I was taught maths by Will Mannion's Grandfather at Northolt High School back in the early 80's...an old school, strict, taciturn teacher, seemingly from a different era.
Therefore, I am doubly pleased that Will Mannion is playing for Charlton and doing well.24 -
So much better than the other clown. How can some not see it? Truly baffling0

Solid as a rock yesterday.3

I think Mannion is a more well rounded goalkeeper than AMB. He’s seems to do most things competently and none spectacularly. I’d say AMB has quite a few glaring deficiencies in his game. I’d want to bring in a definite number one though for next season and move AMB0

The biggest compliment I can pay Mannion is that we barely talk about him. Quietly goes about his business.14

He has has got much better, but I do think Mannion is a much better, all around 'keeper. Which includes his kicking.4
