Roll on 12 months & the thread will be about looking for a'new no 1 & should we release Mannion or loan him out....😀.
If only there was an option to mute comments of posters on here like Twitter…
Golfie has a knack of coming out with some gems sometimes...🙄
TBF recent history says this is quite likely
Wollacott - Signs a 3 year contract - Leaves a year in to it
Summer 2021 - Craig MacGillivray joins on a 2 year deal and leaves after 18 months Summer 2022 - Jojo Wollacott joins on a 3 year deal and leaves after 1 year March 2023 - Ashley Maynard-Brewer signs a 3 year contract, and seems unwanted after 1 year Summer 2023 - Harry Isted joins on a 2 year deal, and seems unwanted after 1 year
Despite evidence to the contrary, I still have belief in AMB and hope he will be loaned out for a season to a League 2 club where he can gain confidence behind a half decent defence. at the end of that hopefully he will have proven his ability and developed.

Golfie's cynicism in this case is well founded...
Autumn 2006 - Golfie joins the forum and seems unwanted after a year
He looks assured and good. The calls he has made for crosses, coming off his line to collect through ball/punts, aswell as his throwing and kicking have all been spot on.
Doesn't matter who's in goal with this defence so far, they have barely anything to do
I think that he should get at least a little bit of credit for that, if the defence are as composed as all that it has to mean that they are happy/confident with the set-up including the keeper behind them.
Contrast to AMB in particular who seemed to strike absolute confusion into his own CBs with his decision making 'process' (if he even had one.)
as a unit he and the back 5 have been excellent, however I do think he can be a bit quicker releasing the ball for counters etc, but guess that comes with time and cohesion within the team
I don't really think I can tell what Mannion is like, he hasn't really been tested enough to know just yet. I would love him to be the reason we get 5 or 6 extra points this season.
We haven't seen him tested properly yet, and with the back 5 and our pack mentality defending, he may not face many shots.
Have to say though, he looks very calm. Always though the last few keepers didn't seem sure of themselves, Mannion looks like he's been here a while. Not too bothered about a keeper as much now tbh, could be wrong, but think he will be sound.
I know he's not really been tested yet but so far he really looks the part and I've taken to him.
He's big, takes crosses, saves shots confidently and looks calm. Definitely deserves to stay in the team at present even if we sign a more experienced (or so-say better) keeper and it would be totally unfair on his performances so far if he was dropped for a new keeper.
A huge part of the reason he hasn’t been tested is the back 3 have confidence in him so step out more meaning that less changes are created. Don’t think a no1 will be a priority anymore

Yeah there was a good moment second half when Mannion came out and smothered the ball. He hesitated for a second, but it wasnt a bad thing, more because he waited to see if his Centre-Back would deal with it, or leave it for him, which he eventually did.
No panic decisions from the backline... Leave the settled defence well alone.
Still no idea how good he is, the defence are doing such a good job of making sure he has very little to do. Decent save from a turn and shot by Charles first half, although still fairly routine, but bugger all of note to do after that.

To call it a positive tingle though....think I'll reserve judgement that until I see Will in the flesh
At my advanced age, one has to use such precious feelings sparingly ( as the late Queen probably told Phil !)

A bit niave to say he has had nothing to do, imo.

Both U21s and U18s have only one stopper.

Charlton's No.1!!
