There seem to be some random facts about his height on various sites. I'd say he is six four or five from the game at the Valley.
Is that his measurement from when he was sitting down on the bench?  If so, he must be about 9ft when standing up. 😉

Roll on 12 months & the thread will be about looking for a'new no 1 & should we release Mannion or loan him out....😀.
If only there was an option to mute comments of posters on here like Twitter…
Golfie has a knack of coming out with some gems sometimes...🙄
  • Welcome Will. I hope it is a really good move for you and for us all.
  • I need to know has Fanny got the tingle about this, before I get too carried away...🙄
Err, reading this announcement earlier, there was a frisson of excitement ...but just for an instant.

To call it a positive tingle though....think I'll reserve judgement that until I see Will in the flesh B)

At my advanced age, one has to use such precious feelings sparingly ( as the late Queen probably told Phil !)

TBF recent history says this is quite likely

  • Despite evidence to the contrary, I still have belief in AMB and hope he will be loaned out for a season to a League 2 club where he can gain confidence behind a half decent defence.  at the end of that hopefully he will have proven his ability and developed.

  • Faultless so far, can't think of one single moment of concern yet.
  • I can’t recall him being tested in either game but yeah, so far, so good.

Sounds like he’s had a tough time off the pitch so even more credit to him for not looking shakey at all.

Yeah I just picked up on that watching now... Hope he's been able to get them sorted
  • Looks confident coming for the ball. Distribution seems pretty average.

as a unit he and the back 5 have been excellent, however I do think he can be a bit quicker releasing the ball for counters etc, but guess that comes with time and cohesion within the team

Seems to me, we need a No3 keeper not a No1. Perhaps Brownie can come out of retirement.

Both U21s and U18s have only one stopper.

U18s have two, the OS squad profiles don’t include the new first years, one of which is a GK.
  • I don't really think I can tell what Mannion is like, he hasn't really been tested enough to know just yet.
I would love him to be the reason we get 5 or 6 extra points this season.
  • He looks the part. He’s big, calm, good with his feet, and decent distribution. I like him.
  • We haven't seen him tested properly yet, and with the back 5 and our pack mentality defending, he may not face many shots.

Have to say though, he looks very calm. Always though the last few keepers didn't seem sure of themselves, Mannion looks like he's been here a while. Not too bothered about a keeper as much now tbh, could be wrong, but think he will be sound.
  • A huge part of the reason he hasn’t been tested is the back 3 have confidence in him so step out more meaning that less changes are created. Don’t think a no1 will be a priority anymore

Yeah there was a good moment second half when Mannion came out and smothered the ball. He hesitated for a second, but it wasnt a bad thing, more because he waited to see if his Centre-Back would deal with it, or leave it for him, which he eventually did.

No panic decisions from the backline... Leave the settled defence well alone.

    Charlton's No.1!!
  • He really hasn’t had a save to make yet, but he hasn’t put a foot wrong. Don’t think you can judge him on what you seen so far.

Still no idea how good he is, the defence are doing such a good job of making sure he has very little to do. Decent save from a turn and shot by Charles first half, although still fairly routine, but bugger all of note to do after that.

    Long may it continue!
