“He’ll provide real good competition to those who we bring into that department and obviously he brings a real talent to it. We want to improve the department. We’re looking to bring in two goalkeepers to have a real competitive edge to them and two we believe can play at not just this level, but also can play at the level above
Ouch !!!1 -
I really hope we aren't signing Cambridge's number 2 as our number 1.Lordflashheart said:

Not sure a 26 year old who has played just 29 EFL games and a bit of non-league is what I’d class as experienced, but we’ve obviously seen something in him other than being out of contract. We desperately needed to improve on our two keepers. Hoping this is an improvement
League experience is pretty low - I can’t believe he is coming in as number one choice
This is all getting a bit scatological.0 -

For the last 12 or so games of the season. He was number 2 for the rest.Redhenry said:

Welcome Will - looks like goodbye to our two current GKs. A real shame for AMB if that is the case.0

Lol, I meant as understudy to whoever gets the number 1 spot. Clearly according to squad numbering he'll be 49 or similar.eastterrace6168 said:
Have I missed something...does he play RB...🙄The Prince-e-Paul said:'he’s really hungry and he wants to get to and play at a higher level. That’s what attracted us to him.'
This was the statement that says it for me. Clearly the club (Jones) don't think that Isted or AMB have either the desire and ambition (talent we know too much about about). This boy also is at a career crossroads so maybe has something to prove.
Both Isted and AMB have been given the boot in the most clear way, without actually being sacked!
Welcome to our new number 2.0 -
To be fair, you could say similar about Steve EvansThe Prince-e-Paul said:'he’s really hungry and he wants to get to and play at a higher level. That’s what attracted us to him.'

On that basis (the last 12 games of the season) Isted was our number 1 keeper, while Thomas was our first choice centre back.Redhenry said:

Yes, for the back end of the season. A big reason he's with us and not Cambridge is that they couldn't guarantee him game time next season.Redhenry said:

Not really. He's fundamentally just not good enough for what we need, he will probably manage to find himself another club. I have nothing against him personally but I do not rate him as a keeper at all.Pavoren007 said:Welcome Will - looks like goodbye to our two current GKs. A real shame for AMB if that is the case.

I wonder who Cambridge will replace him with........Isted or AMB?

I'll be shocked if this fella is our new number one. Crazy long contract for a back up keeper though2

I think the idea is to have two equal keepers, competing for one spot, so not a number one persey...agim said:I'll be shocked if this fella is our new number one. Crazy long contract for a back up keeper though0 -
My cousin who supports Cambridge says he is decent.3

Thought he looked good against us. If I hadnt seen his playing history then I would have thought he was much more experienced as he looked very assured.Exiled_Addick said:My cousin who supports Cambridge says he is decent.0 -
Just hope the FA will let us start each match with 3 keepers in goal, we might keep a clean sheet then.2

I think that there will be someone else bought in to be the number one this season and Mannion will be gradually brought through over time to be number one in the future.agim said:I'll be shocked if this fella is our new number one. Crazy long contract for a back up keeper though2 -

There seem to be some random facts about his height on various sites. I'd say he is six four or five from the game at the Valley.0

Let's be honest, it'll mainly be because we pay more than Cambridge rather than that.ElliotCAFC said:

A pay rise and long contract. We could be Crewe Alexander or Carshalton Athletic for all he cares.North Lower Neil said:

I agree, I was referring to him not being Cambridge's number 1 - as they couldn't guarantee the number 1 shirt, even in the division below.North Lower Neil said:

Jack Stevens was in goal for Cambridge at The Valley match.
