Think he's in there regularly from what other people were saying.

Few teams if any are going to out-muscle us this year. And defensively we look much more secure.
Early days yet but I was very impressed with Mannion today. Don't think signing a new keeper is anywhere near as vital as some think.
Going to reserve judgment on Ahadme until he plays with a different partner to Campbell. Can only hope there is more to his game than we can currently see.
Just hope that injuries don't de-rail our promotion push. Horrible feeling we won't see Edwards for some time. And, after seeing the replay, that was a clear red for Clare.
And finally won't be popular with some but I was thinking if we could play Alfie May in front of today's keeper, defence and midfield that would be a team that is comfortable top 6. But I know move on, move on .....His goals are lovely but somehow he’s always scoring for teams that also concede lots of goals too. Is it a coincidence?
Also lets not forget if Holden hadn't pushed & pushed for his signing we would have just kicked off in Division Four.5 -

The drink service in the north stand lower was even more garbage than usual at half time. We also did not have the game on the TVs. Same old crap. Great win mind0

Horse shit rocks in my greenhouse.
That from trap 3 too.

Obviously we are all grateful for Alfie’s contribution to keeping us out of division four last season.0 -

It would just be our luck to finish 3rd, same number of points as 2nd but miss out on GD. Or worse, by goals scored.
But let’s focus on not being top after two games and some public shitting fetish.

This team with this manager has the potential to have a special season. COYR’s.8

Very late post, I've had an absolute nightmare today with my camera.
On to the game! A really enjoyable day out. Lovely weather, nice atmosphere, and 3 points to go with it.
I felt although we were fluffing chances, and our crossing was poor, we look so tough to beat, and honestly, after the crap served up these last few years, I'll take it. Not many teams will beat us I imagine.
Special mentions to Ramsay (motm) and Lloyd Jones, two very impressive performances from the pair. Also thought Coventry, Docherty, A.Mitchell, and of course, the match winner Berry, all had quietly good games, and looked fairly comfortable.
I like the look of newboy Gassan, reckon with a proper striker partner, he will be a problem, and I feel Mannion may be really decent business. He has the benefit of a good defence infront of him, but he looks very assured.
Roll on Bolton, which I feel is a real acid test for this team.
Happy Sunday addicks!18 -
And of course, I am back vlogging, if you haven't yet, please check out my vlogs and if you find yourself enjoying them, please don't be shy to sub, hoping to hit 1k soon after a bit of a hiatus.
I'll leave the link below. I got to the game very late so I missed out on some content I wanted to do, but I've added a bit of a mini game called '5 rounds for 5 pounds' to try and liven the vlogs up a bit, please tell me what you think.https://youtu.be/HO7MOgr0N_Y?si=3CCxyl7MMA1TtWkI

I'm quite confident they'll go close to both 100 points and 100 goals.1 -

On your last point, if Jones is backed with a few more signings I don’t think we’ll see a striker come in other than Dixon as a prospect rather than a starter.0 -

We don’t have the same luxury and so our strikers have jobs to do out of possession just as much as they do in the opposition’s penalty area.9 - Sponsored links:

And by the way, Alfie didn’t score for us until his fourth league appearance. And that was a penalty!
So writing off the current crop of strikers because they haven’t scored in the first two is a bit mad IMO. Still plenty of time to get into a groove.9 -
They weren't brave enough to play - according to Wellens.

Can’t knock a 1-0 win by the binary bores
long may it continueMy view is we need some genuine guile to be able to keep us up in the mix for automatics , play offs we’ll be there and thereabouts with what we have .Not that the table means much at this stage of the season but the two teams we have beaten have lost their other games and sit 5th and 4th bottom
Bolton is a proper test and a win against them will get my juices flowing because they will actually ‘be up there’
Poor touch off Coventry (who’s been top apart from kickin corners straight off )for the assist and Berry is a fella who is front foot and looking to have a crack , I like him
Defensively we are different gravy , keepers done the basics very well and not been properly tested , long may that continue .
lets hope these levels of fitness can last a whole season because they’re putting some proper yardage in

Bloody Birmingham and May...🤷♂️0

Partly understand May being discussed in a post-match thread when we lose, but not when we win.Let's just be happy that our current squad of players have been 100% successful in the league so far.3
-
I think we needed to sort out the defence and Jones has done that and some. The midfield won their battles and what I felt we were missing was a striker who puts himself about, until Aneke came on. Then it all seemed to work and you could see the full picture. Leaburn can potentially do that job but I'm not sure about Ahadme. He is tidy but not sure he is a handful, although he missed a bit of pre-season so may not yet be up to speed.
I thought Small grew into the game and we saw last season's player by the end. His crossing needs fine tuning but he showed last season this is not an area of weakness. A bit of luck seeing as Edwards looks like he might be out for a while. Ramsey is growing every game and Iooks like a bit of a find. Coventry competes but is also assured on the ball. Mannion gives me confidence and our defence looks a nightmare to play against. You can see how this team may develop further.
Set pieces still need work but I think we have more attributes to make them work this season. We do need to improve in this area. Lastly, that ref was I suspect somebody who has never played the game to any sort of competetive level. They stand out like a sore thumb.2 -
Wheresmeticket said:Bailey said:Isn't it time we had a 'we would be so much better if we kept Alfie May' thread. There are obviously posters on here whose nose is firmly out of joint with our 100% record even after just two league games. Halfway through the game today we had the same culprits declaring we would be winning if Alfie May was still playing. It is starting to sound like you are desperate for the team to fail merely so you can come on here and declare 'I told you so'. Get over it and move on.
Just one of the many examples. Correct me if I'm wrong. Alfie May signed a two year contract, so was in his last season with us ? Alfie May's wife and kids live in the North of England so Alfie May would never have re-signed for Charlton as quite rightly he wanted to be reunited with his family ? Charlton would never have got money for Alfie as he would have walked away. Now have a look at the same scenario with Thierry Small, last year of his contract not going to re-sign so not committed to the club in the long term. The manager and owners are reportedly seeing this as a long term project, that's according to posters who spoke with them yesterday, a player in the last year of his deal would not be seen as long term and if the club can sell and replace, it has to do it for the benefit of the club. One other thing, Alfie May's form here last year took a dip and a lot of people blamed the manager, did anyone think that Alfie's domestic situation may have played a part.Well this is no better than last season….no threat up front whatsoever….selling May a big mistake2 -

Soon we will be tested (next week against Bolton ?) and when we go a goal down I'm hoping that we can respond. We didnt last Tuesday, but as that was a cup match and we are concentrating on the league it was glossed over a bit.
You may all love a clean sheet win but I much prefer knowing that if we do concede we have the firepower to not only scored one back but score 2 and win.11
