    Really enjoyed those last 9 days of athletics. Lots of excitement from the falls near the line on the first night through to the relays on the last.

    Stadium looked well attended, a bit of a pity about some of the organisation though. Seemed quite a few false starts due to the tech, the slip and injury on the mens long jump due to lack of plastesine and as for those buggies colliding with men's 200m chaps on board after a near miss the night before, words fail me. 

    Stand out for me was Josh Kerr's 1500m gold with a notable mention to Ben Pattisons bronze in the 800m.

    Really pleased for Ben Pattison - winning bronze in the 800 metres from one of the fastest loser spots. 

    Keeley Hodgkinson ran well for her 800 metre silver, but such is her reputation will be disappointed not to take the gold.

    It seems by all accounts that the Hungarians put up a great show in Budapest with a super stadium and crowds to match.  So much better than the disaster of Doha and the lukewarm reception to the Eugene, Oregon games.

    I note Seb Coe has admitted to being receptive to the Saudi's offer of cash - just hope their filthy lucre doesn't ruin everything in the future.

    That relay team from 1991 won in 2:57:53. This year's GB team posted 2:58:71

    It didn't help not having the best individual runner (for whatever reason/still minor injury/injuries  despite performance in the individual 400)

    This was the only championship which Pettigrew, who he beat on that last leg, did not admit to doping at. He was stripped of or returned all his other global medals. Ended up killing himself a few years back

    That run from Hodgkinson was about as close to a perfect 800 as you'll see

    Thanks for the reminder watched this yesterday. Some great middle and long distance races. Agree with others about how well run that 800m was. A near perfect example of even paced running.

    Phoebe Gill at 17 has posted an incredibly fast time at 800m, but perhaps Paris has come too soon.

    Because its probably four rounds and she wont be physically or mentally up for that level in her 1st major competition.

    Has there been some new shoe technology rolled out in the last few months? I know it’s Olympic year but there’s been some severe drop in times over the last 6-8 weeks across the board it seems

    Georgia Bell took over 3 1/2 seconds off her PB. Insane drops for that distance. If it were Eastern Europeans or Americans doing it you’d be asking serious questions. That’s why o ask about shoes, there’s been similar drops from 400m upwards recently

    shoe regs were put in just before the last olympics limiting sole depth to 20mm on the track whereas 40mm was allowed on the road (which accounts for the men's, women's mixed and women only records all falling by a chunk)

    the rules haven't changed since but I suspect Nike have finally figured out the best way to get carbon plate tech to work in a 20mm sole

    If you think that then you don't want to look at her last race when she took 8 seconds off her PB

    Georgia's a 1500m runner who's only run 800 twice in about 7 years I think, that improvement isn't that odd

    I was there, it was a great afternoon. Not that knowledable about athletics but my mate whose son was a rising star in triple jump until injury, said there were a number of gold medal performances.

    Arrogant maybe but still a schoolboy , only 16.

    A lesson learned the hard way but something he'll make sure doesn't happen again.

    He'll be aiming for the Olympics in 4 years time.

    She’s 31 in a couple of months. You’re thinking of Phoebe Gill

    I’m not doubting Georgia’s ability to improve btw, just questioning how in the last couple of months so many athletes globally on the DL scene have been taking large chunks out of PBs, National Records etc

    Either. 

    1) huge misjudgement of finish line 
    2) injury .

    no way a sprinter eases up that early.

    Hudson-Smith was one of the stars yesterday, but I was impressed with the GB National 400 Metre race too. 

    Samuel Reardon looked particularly good in winning - improving his PB by over a second. The makings of a good 400 metre relay team.
