We have a goal scorer, we need someone to complement him and get us playing higher up the pitch.I thought Ikpeazu was the stand out player from that game and as a squad option would be an excellent addition.1

He was very good at disrupting/battling our defenders, and winning free kicks on the halfway line just by being big and awkward.
He gave them both a torrid time and has a decent pedigree having played in the Scottish Prem and Championship. Obviously not a goalscorer but apparently we need someone primarily for May to play off.Leaburn staying fit would be a 20+ goal player in my opinion, but we can’t rely on that and he might not be here anyway. Hopefully Ikpeazu is just a stop-gap and we bring in a proper goalscoring big man in the summer1 -

Centre back but has played holding midfield too
Not quite the transfer fix I need but the next best thing, like methadone9 -

O dear, Whatever happened to the new chairman splashing the cash to fire them out of the division.? Bonne as your main striker 😂2 -

Got to he honest, I'd be a bit underwhelmed by this. Stockton at least has a history of a decent strike rate, Goodwin has potential and JCH is an absolute bagsman that's also a physical presence.
Uche is just a bit of a handful, poor strike rate.
the problem is, when do you give up
on other targets and go for the short term gap fill option.
🎵 if Uche scorers, we're on the pitch 🎵2 -

For me this just isn't a good signing, 29 in a month (same age as the 'old' JCH), barely made an impact anywhere he has played.
This just smacks of desperation and not a signing where a plan has been put in place. I don't imagine he would be a part of our build for next season..
Hopefully Wycombe will outbid us on this one.4 -
He’s Chuks-lite which I’m ok with.Only six months left on his contract that he just signed three months ago so will be cheap too.
We need a bloke to fill the gap until the summer if JCH and Goodwin aren’t happening.
Give him a cheap ish 18 month deal and if he’s out of favour by this time next year I’m sure Port Vale, Wycombe etc would take him on loan.15 -

There is clearly a plan in place, and the fact we have signed players early, and now moved down the list to what I assume would be our 5th/6th choice striker, who all have the same sort of physical attributes, actually shows that. Not the other way around.
Whether the plan will work is a whole different story.20 -

Think Olympiacos will sign him and loan him to Forest to get around this as same owners.
As for Ikpeazu, whilst he scored against us I thought he was one of the most limited players I have seen. Just a big agricultural lump, most defences in this league will deal with him very easily. He definitely isn't an elite 8 signing and only just about would be a L1 bob average 8 signing.5 -

This could also be one of those situations where we have a few possibilities, but we have to keep some moving along to ensure we get the type of player we need, even if we have to go with a short term option.

At least with JCH you get goals to add to his presence & physicality.1 - Sponsored links:

Goodwin still not announced by Oxford, just saying.3

Oh the Olympiakos workaround would make a lot of sense. I think they did similar the other year with Josh Bowler where Forest signed him but loaned him straight to Olympiakos0 -

As mentioned by an earlier poster, we're in a relegation struggle and players might be put off coming to us, unless the financial package suits.2 -
We'll be on to Bogle or Dodoo again if we can't get someone slightly better.2

Cheap wages but still wages, could potentially be another one we have sitting their wasting wages and blocking other transfer activity.Scoham said:Braziliance said:DOUCHER said:Braziliance said:

Just don't think it's a good signing is all3 -
It’s good your not in charge then, because if your list is just the top player and they all want to go somewhere else we’re screwed, so we have to look at options. He looked very good against us and put a shift in.1

I highlighted Carlisle previously as they had made movement to increase their chances of survival, we hadn't done at the time. Since then there has been some movement so I've not used them as a comparison. There are still question marks over the quality and longevity of these signings we have made, but that's like any signing, they're all risks until proven otherwise.
So to clarify no, I don't post to suit my 'view point' as I've been fairly positive about some of these signings, if I think a player is going to be a bad signing, I'll say it as that's the purpose of this thread..

The problem here is that if he stinks up the place anybody thinking it helps our situation will forget they said that.
We should, could and must do better. Especially in our shit sandwich of a season!
We have a very difficult fixture list in February. I don't think this guy will be the difference.
Sadly.
Prepared to be shot down / proven wrong.7 -
Probably worth waiting for a Cawley Confirmation before we panic/get excited by the Ikpeazu link. So far it's literally one mention on a Sky blog, no idea if it's actually got any basis in reality.1
