Think the lack of the ball sticking is part of why we don’t have many midfield goals. If the ball can stick at his feet it should encourage forward runs. The new midfield signings seemed more likely to make those runs on Saturday 

Neither have scored many goals in their career. It’s probably more of an issue for the summer, but goals from elsewhere in the team needs to be addressed

Have to disagree, thought he looked very mobile for his size. Remember him using his pace to burn past Hector & Jones at one point. 

He gave them both a torrid time and has a decent pedigree having played in the Scottish Prem and Championship. Obviously not a goalscorer but apparently we need someone primarily for May to play off. 

May alone won’t score nearly enough to get us promoted. Our midfield doesn’t have enough goals in, if we are moving to wing backs then neither do they, and our centre backs have zero goals this season. 

Leaburn staying fit would be a 20+ goal player in my opinion, but we can’t rely on that and he might not be here anyway. Hopefully Ikpeazu is just a stop-gap and we bring in a proper goalscoring big man in the summer 

I think he'd definitely be a stopgap but tbf we have only scored 2 less goals than Pompey who are top of the table. 

If you remove CBT then we’d be struggling a lot more to find the net 

I can't be getting into another argument that goals are the problem. If we improve all over the pitch as we look to be doing, we'll have a better season.

As for Ikpeazu, whilst he scored against us I thought he was one of the most limited players I have seen. Just a big agricultural lump, most defences in this league will deal with him very easily. He definitely isn't an elite 8 signing and only just about would be a L1 bob average 8 signing.

Oh the Olympiakos workaround would make a lot of sense. I think they did similar the other year with Josh Bowler where Forest signed him but loaned him straight to Olympiakos

Got to he honest, I'd be a bit underwhelmed by this. Stockton at least has a history of a decent strike rate, Goodwin has potential and JCH is an absolute bagsman that's also a physical presence. 

Uche is just a bit of a handful, poor strike rate.

For me this just isn't a good signing, 29 in a month (same age as the 'old' JCH), barely made an impact anywhere he has played. 

This just smacks of desperation and not a signing where a plan has been put in place. I don't imagine he would be a part of our build for next season..

Hopefully Wycombe will outbid us on this one.

The implication from that Sky paragraph is he’d be free. I’d imagine cheap wages too 

If it was free it would be for next season, I can't imagine why Port Vale would be willing to lose one of their only strikers for free tbh. 

Cheap wages but still wages, could potentially be another one we have sitting their wasting wages and blocking other transfer activity.

I don’t get the way of thinking (the last bit) - if we don’t get him what makes you think we’d get better? The longer we wait the more risk we end up with someone further down the list or worse, no new striker at all.

This could also be one of those situations where we have a few possibilities, but we have to keep some moving along to ensure we get the type of player we need, even if we have to go with a short term option.

Because we have been heavily linked with one of the best strikers in the league, it's quite underwhelming to go from that to a player who's probably not even top20 material.

Just don't think it's a good signing is all

You really want to try and find any angle you can to fit your own view point. It was the same the moment Carlisle signed a few players (the day before us) and you straight away wanted to use that as a point of them having an ownership team who 'cares' and has a 'plan in place'.

There is clearly a plan in place, and the fact we have signed players early, and now moved down the list to what I assume would be our 5th/6th choice striker, who all have the same sort of physical attributes, actually shows that. Not the other way around.

Whether the plan will work is a whole different story. 

I think you're just overthinking my posts a tad. I've seen we are linked with a player, it's the transfer discussion thread, I've said I think he'd be a poor signing. Whatever I say will not dictate if the club decide to sign him, unless they've changed their recruitment tactics? Whatever I say should not impact you, so what do you mean by my 'view point'. What's the implication there? 

I highlighted Carlisle previously as they had made movement to increase their chances of survival, we hadn't done at the time. Since then there has been some movement so I've not used them as a comparison. There are still question marks over the quality and longevity of these signings we have made, but that's like any signing, they're all risks until proven otherwise.

So to clarify no, I don't post to suit my 'view point' as I've been fairly positive about some of these signings, if I think a player is going to be a bad signing, I'll say it as that's the purpose of this thread..
