ASIIMWE, T.WATSON, EDUN
HECTOR, JONES, THOMAS, ELEREWE, NESS, ABANKWAH
DOBSON, TAYLOR, ANDERSON, FRASER, CAMARA, MCGRANDLES, L.WATSON
C.CAMPBELL, T.CAMPBELL, BLACKETT-TAYLOR, KIRK
MAY, LEABURN, TEDIC, KANU, ANEKE
The only thing I think we're missing overall is one more wingback, but I think between Watson being able to play on both sides, Thomas being able to play left back and CBT being able to play as a (very attacking) left wing back, it's sufficiently covered until the inevitable injury list pile up.
Maybe if Kanu hadn't kicked on a bit like he has I'd be more concerned about the strikers, but he appears to be a viable fourth choice now.
We have the quantity many were clamouring for, the huge question now is if there is actually any quality in that lot.
Long season ahead I think, but let's hope there's some nice surprises at least
the only chance we have is if there is a Cullen, Bielik and rak sak in the lot we have signed. Time will tell
Or is that it now, if you're not constantly screaming how "the squad is shit, and everything is terrible and ahhhh I hate Charlton" and you're not making Golfie look like a carefree, happy-go-lucky kind of guy then you're "optimistic"?0 -

According to the Irish Under 21 Manager Abankwah best position is RB/RWB.

Less of the Kirk hate, who knows maybe a new manager might get a tune out of him.
Our squad seems all over the place in terms of quality and experience, which worries me especially as we don't have a manager. Think we could be in for a real struggle this season7 -
LargeAddick said:I think a lot of peoples annoyance is that throughout the summer we’ve been briefed indirectly that we’ve bid 500k for Nombe, enquired after JCH, suggestions we were interested in Collins at Bristol Rovers etc etc which is obviously all bullshit. It’s no wonder then that people are underwhelmed when we sign players on deadline day whom none of us have heard of.
I don’t know if these players will work out or not and only time will tell but, in my opinion, we haven’t enough about us for a top six finish but I really hope I’m wrong.3 -
I understand the Derby’s, Ipswich’s, Sheffield Wednesday’s, but sad times when we can’t compete for signings with Bristol Rovers.31

The manager signing is absolutely huge now, get it right and give the team time to gel, who knows what could happen.This.
Having read lots of posts over the past few hours I think I might have been a tad negative.
Time to give this new bunch of players time to gel & see what a new manager can do with them. We finally have a finisher up front (May) and Tedic could be just what we need up there with him. With Chem Campbell, CBT & Camara in midfield we should have enough to create some chances.
Just hope the defence can tighten up enough & stop lett8ng in last minute goals.
Still think top 6 is a big stretch but top half should be bear minimum. And that starts tomorrow with a 2-0 win.

Richard Chin is another wing back option. I prefer him on the right, sadly it was playing there that he got injured at Newport1
-
I'd love nothing more than for it to all work out now for Kirk. Time for him to knuckle down and force his way into the new managers plans.4

Gribbo said:Rather than wanting Kirk away at this point, I'd sooner he gets his finger out his arse over next 4 months
not beat or take on fullbacks
doesnt cross at all
i mean he and us will need a miracle for him to turn into half a good player
hopefully he is kept out the way and goes in jan🤦🏻♂️🤞🏻4 -
Overall I think it’s been a pretty good window. A few wait and see signings but nice to see a few deadwood shifted ( shame about Kirk ).

Even if everyone is suddenly fit again and stays fit the rest of the season I cannot see how this squad has the know-how to be a promotion threat to our rivals.1 -
£1m for Nombe
£800k for JCH.
Thats what it takes. As someone above just said - cant understand what SE7's play is. Spend c£10m on a business that loses £8m a year without owning any assets and then dont spend 10% of your loses to help you stop those losses next season.
Methven has really spun the yanks a line.14 -
£800k for JCH is an absolute steal.4

How the hell can Bristol Rovers afford fees like that from the revenue the club will generate?!!

Overall its been a bit a weird one. We've actually gone out and bought players in.... AND in positions we needed them. Which would normally be quite positive except we have gone for young, inexperienced and cheap options across the board so whilst the numbers look a lot better now it's hard to be confident the squad is actually "better" in practical terms.
It's going to be very interesting to see who Charlie and Co. manage to tempt/bribe/fool into signing up to manage next as whoever they are will have a real job on their hands.6 -
Seems like a bunch of desperate signings, not being funny but why did we need to wait to deadline day to get any of these players if we truly wanted them. We signed a bloke who was out of contract which could have been done any time and have signed 3 players on loan who were never in a million years going to play for their parent team this season. Unless Man city were hanging on in case Haaland picked up a knock!! We had 3 inexperieneced centre backs so we sent one on loan to bring in another young inexperienced defender. Same old shit different season.24

LargeAddick said:If some people are happy with our transfer dealings this summer then good for them but I’m not happy with a half arsed squad that will be lucky to finish top ten in my opinion.Of the new players we’ve seen May as expected looks to have goals in him and the rest (Isted, Camara, Edun, Taylor & Campbell) look good to promising. The rest could be anything. They all seem to be highly regarded, but then so was Kirk, and he hasn’t clicked with us.But anyone saying they’re dogsh1t signings is bullshitting. None of us know how they’ll turn out, but at least they’re not on the way down, like Watson, Arter and the like.
Will this squad finish top 10? In the words of the mighty Lurkers, ‘Ain’t got a Clue’. But it’s not outside the bounds of possibility imho.Having said that, my 16/1 odds for automatics looks ridiculously bad value now. 🙁4 -

golfaddick said:So the yanks have no money either. Like Sandgaard & ESI before them. Mostly loans & frees with money paid for just May, Taylor & Edun - and some of that was from money we got for selling a couple of players.
All played out just as we were told it would.0 -
Colleague of mine knows the Bristol Rovers owners. One of them are from Jordan and have got a load of money. They were looking for a club to buy a number of years ago and went for Bristol Rovers as they liked the area. Recently sold a large stake to another rich guy from the Middle East.
With Collins, JCH and Brown, that’s a strong front line. Also signed Harvey Vale the other week on loan from Chelsea. Think they’ll get top 6 this season.13 -
Fair play to Bristol Rovers.1

I think maybe we held up the Tedic deal waiting for a better potential option ie Ladapo.
The centre half and midfielder positions were likely only decided upon this week when our centre halves stank the house out for the 3rd consecutive game and McGrandles got injured again.8 -
soapboxsam said:BansteadAddick said:Is that the worst transfer window ever? So many unknowns and inexperienced players? How will they all play in a toxic Valley with under 6k inside as we get tonked at home to Burton et al?
You are having a Giraffe.
Worse than the arsehole Southall taking 80% of the fanbase for utter mugs.
I was a proud bedwetter as I saw through that cunt as soon as he opened his mouth.
And did Bowyer and Gallen go along with the charade ?
I have no idea if the lads signed in this window will be good or not but all 4 positions we needed today have been covered.
RB, CB, midfield and another big central forward to compete with Leaburn for game time.
Well done Andy Scott for getting players in and getting a few out.
As long as Leaburn, Dobson and CBT are still here it's been a decent window despite the bar being very low after the last half a dozen windows.
As others have said, what on earth is the plan with our owners? It makes no business sense at all what they have done so far.
Holden promised us signings of quality.that will be better than what we have. Maybe they are? Maybe he was frustrated that they would not be? Who knows? Maybe he had no say. Maybe Hector will clear every set piece tomorrow against Stockley? It could happen.
But you tell me, after that Millwall preseason match, if someone told you then everything that has happened in the past few weeks would you have believed them and would it have made you excited for the season ahead?
But lets just hope it all turns out well, I think this club and the fans really deserve some good times ahead.2 -
Do we now have the dominant centre back who can organise the defence that many were calling for? I don’t think we do. Hadn’t really noticed that with all the comings and goings. Abankwah maybe? Let’s hope he’s the real deal.0

any free agents we can get?0
