I find it hard to continue to resent a 41-year-old man for making a financially/ career motivated decision when he was 22. Besides, I blame Chelsea and Abramovich for all that more than him. I wanted him to do well in management but I suspect he'll be bouncing around the Championship and possibly League One and below for a long while.
Either way, he's better off not sticking around at Bournemouth. They have the potential for a record low points tally unless something drastic happens there. They're 22 goals behind Arsenal on goal difference after four games!6 -

I do still hold a bitter resentment for him leaving, we would have qualified for Europe had he stayed. The best chance we ever had or ever will have (sugardaddy notwithstanding). I can't help that resentment any more than a dog can't help licking its balls. However, I am equally sensible enough to see that getting the tin-tack when you have lost to three of the richest clubs in the world, and won the "winnable" game, you don't deserve the Spanish archer.3

Not just that. He refused to travel to the cup game at Gillingham, which we then duly lost. If we'd have won that game we wouldn't have faced another premier league team until the final. I was at the cup game at Gillingham, and Scot Parker was standing close to me with the Charlton fans in the away end.
At that point I don’t think the fans knew what was going on.
As I recall most of the Charlton fans were polite and nice to him.
He probably refused to play against the Gills, but he made his own way to the ground.
it was after this match that I found out that he was refusing to play for us.0 -

It then all erupted because Richard Murray didn't know the right way to handle the problem.
Scott betrayed the club but it wasn't all from his own making. The problem was inevitable. A bigger club was always going to try and snatch him from charlton at some point. It was just earlier than expected.
We didn't know how to keep him.

the answers to all of those are yes.
itvwas heavilybrumoured at the time that even the England manager told him to stay at Charlton until the end of the season.
look at his career stats, was going to Chelsea a mistake and was it all about the money? yes.!!! Parker cost us
parker did a Lyle Taylor, the difference is social media wasnt around then so parker got away with it.

Scott Parker was the star player in that team and what ever we think of Richard Murray now, we did our utmost to keep him.
He was going to get a massive loyalty bonus and a wage increase. They didn't even need him as there Midfield was strong anyway.
It did/does make we wonder if you can't hold on to your players when you are 4th in the Premier and they go to club lower in the table like Chelsea what is the point. The elitist premier League even stopped the shared gate receipts
The day Parker left I knew we would never be as high again in the Table in my or any Charlton fans life time. Brings back so many unhappy memories after such a great 5 months of that premier season. Losing Scott Parker and later Curbs,were the two pivotal moments when we were on a southern trajectory.
Murray went from Hero to Zero after losing his Midas touch and the rest is comedy gold as long as you aren't a Charlton fan.

Second set of owners he's fallen out with. Funny that. Almost like when he doesn't get exactly what he wants he throws his toys out of the pram until he gets paid a lot of money to leave. Wonder when he learned that trick..
