    10 goals in 10 games. 4 of them penalties.
    Some amazingly one dimensional games and stats:

    12 games played
    2 x 0-0
    9 x 1-0
    1 x 2-1
    12 goals in total
    9 goals in 1st half
    3 goals in 2nd half

    Not watched a single ball kicked but those stats very much suggest that teams are going 1-0 up and just getting 11 behind the ball. How else does one explain 11/12 matches with just one goal and only three scored in more than nine hours of 2nd half football?

    Some lovely goals in the Ivory Coast v Sierra Leone match. Watched this as the North London derby was cancelled and it’s been decent, SL with a last minute equaliser to draw 2-2.

    When I’m watching the AFCON matches I like googling the countries because I don’t really know huge amounts about lots of the nations competing. Was interested to read this afternoon Sierra Leone was established by the British (by stealing someone else’s land, naturally) in the 1800’s as a place to relocate black Americans (many who had been slaves) who had fought for the British in the American Revolutionary War and poor black people from London. Consequently English is the official national language.

    He had to go off, Ivory Coast had already used all five of their subs so Serge Aurier went in goal Steve Brown style for the last few mins. He could have been putting it on to save face, but apparently there had been concerns about the pitch pre-game which could have contributed to the mistake & subsequent injury.

    Incredible result for Algeria.

    35 games unbeaten going back to 2018 and just 2 away from equalling Italy's all time record and they lose 1-0 to Equatorial Guinea!

    Their last group game v Ivory Coast is now basically a knock out game for them.

    Along with Equatorial Guinea winning that puts Comoros through as one of the best 3rd placed teams
