Back to the original and best, tomorrow thousands of us would have been walking past the Charlton station mural0

This is what it looked like previously. It's fair to say that it needed a bit more work than our mural!1 -
Happy 1st birthday to the mural.
Sadly, lockdown means only a few Charlton fans and no away fans have seen it in the flesh since
RIP Seb

And it's still in good nick, which must confuse the local miseries who thought it'd be covered in graffiti.2

Maybe they will come round to the idea of another mural in Floyd Rd (if they pay for it.)0 -
Cycled past it a few times in between lockdowns although not so much since the Anchor and Hope (and all other pubs) have been shut - it looks as good as in the pictures.0
-
Can we do the same to the opposite wall on the bridge ?InspectorSands said:It looks incredible on a sunny evening as the red just catches the sun nicely. Brilliant work by Ben and the museum team, also Network Rail who gave it their full backing.0 -

Thanks to Cardinal Sin who gave the mural a wash and brush up today as well as removing a few weeds.28
-
As mentioned the mural has, in the three years, four months since it was created, had a bit of wear and tear.
And weeds and plants have grown. Luckily @Cardinal Sin lives locally and weeded and cleaned the wall yesterday.
11 -
But some of the damage done needed more than just a clean so the Museum, who paid all the costs for the original mural, asked artist Lionel Stanhope to come back and repair the wall and mural

Today, Lionel got busy at the station and the mural now looks a lot, lot better.
Thanks to him and to @Cardinal Sin for their help.

One of the local critics said ' what's it going to look like in a few years time '. Well we always plan to maintain it , so every few years it will get a repaint12
