Let me know if you like it. I rarely unequivocally recommend. This was what I did with Caliphate too.AFKABartram said:
Right Bolloxbloke, I've on a whim let this just queue jump about 20 others on my list purely on your post. On your head be it pal!bolloxbolder said:Binge watched The Crown and The Queen's Gambit. Excellent Netflix productions.
Also enjoyed the 6 part series The Spy starring Sacha Baron Cohen. Based on a true story about an Egyptian spy working under cover in Syria for Israel in the 60s. Thoroughly recommended.4 -
You'll not be disappointed I don't think.AFKABartram said:

Sacha baron Cohen is great in it2 -
Loved the caliphate, but (from memory) spy not so much only because that story has been told so many times in the past 2 years!0

Anyone watching Industry on BBC2? Not sure what to make of it (City-based story of young graduates enrolling in a very sharp -elbowed investment bank, probably modelled on Goldman Sachs or similar)0
-
Started watching it.......thought the first one was pony and the second one was worse. I won't be watching any more of it.PragueAddick said:Anyone watching Industry on BBC2? Very stereotypical view of the perception of Casino bankers as you suggest.2 -
Investment banking is a pretty dreadful industry and I really don't need to watch a drama about it.SuedeAdidas said:

I didn't make it to the end of the first episode. I suppose after her previous success no one had the balls to tell Lena Dunham how awful it was. Best avoided.SuedeAdidas said:

The part of it that I work in is dreadfully dull that's for sure.......I can see why they try and focus on the more edgy elements. A drama based around endlessly looking at spreadsheets and listening to middle aged women complain about their bosses and/or husbands at the coffee machine wouldn't have quite the same alure I guess?!?hoof_it_up_to_benty said:

The best TV series ever about banking was Capital City which aired in the late 80s. It was outstandingly bad but very funny how cliched it was. A great piece of bad TV.1 -
I started watching it but gave up. The nudity was the only diverting bit, although that felt a bit 'Weinstein exploiting young actors desperate for a job esque'.PragueAddick said:Anyone watching Industry on BBC2? Was gonna give Watchmen a go, is the series not on Amazon or Netflix? I didn’t really rate the movie tho, thought it was a bit of a mess.0

It was on sky so imagine it is on Now TV or boxsetsValleyGary said:Was gonna give Watchmen a go, is the series not on Amazon or Netflix? I didn’t really rate the movie tho, thought it was a bit of a mess.1 -
It's way, way better than the movie. It's set some time after the events the graphic novel/movieValleyGary said:Was gonna give Watchmen a go, is the series not on Amazon or Netflix? I didn’t really rate the movie tho, thought it was a bit of a mess.1 -
Do many people think the series was better? I rate the movie way higher, but enjoyed both?Jints said:

I watched the whole thing and found it hard to get into. They ended each episode on a cliffhanger and it was very expensively made so looks cool as fuck but fell down a bit on the story. I'm possibly not the target audience thoughValleyGary said:Was gonna give Watchmen a go, is the series not on Amazon or Netflix? I didn’t really rate the movie tho, thought it was a bit of a mess.0 -
Yes, it's hard work. I can't believe it's anything like that in reality.PragueAddick said:Anyone watching Industry on BBC2? Not sure what to make of it (City-based story of young graduates enrolling in a very sharp -elbowed investment bank, probably modelled on Goldman Sachs or similar)
Does anyone on CL work at an investment bank?0 -
Just finished watching Mangrove the first part in the Small Axe series directed by Steve McQueen. It covers an important part of recent British social history and its excellent piece of storytelling. The acting across the cast is impressive and it catches the period very accurately.
Some great music from the time used as a backdrop.

I love the books - and Titus Welliver IS Bosch. The best piece of casting ever. In fact, the casting in general is fantastic. It's the best police procedural show I've ever watched.johnny73 said:Just finished season one of Bosch. Very good so far.1 -
Doesn’t Afka look after the IT at one of them?Covered End said:

Watching Frankie Boyle's Tour of Scotland on IPlayer- a very funny travelogue.1

I know it's old, but I've just discovered Car share. I don't know how Peter Kay can make travelling in a car funny, but it's hilarious

Thats Peter Kay at his best doing TV like that, perfectly observed, little facial movements and comments. Not to say his stand up isn't good I laughed as much as the next person when he's doing songs lyrics people get wrong and GARLIC BREAD'ing but it wasn't as funny as the 30th person I overheard repeating "GARLIC BREAD" back to a waitress.Gravesend_Addick said:I know it's old, but I've just discovered Car share. Car share was magnificent as was Phoenix Nights0 -
Max and Paddy was very funny. Not a fan of his stand up - a bit too mainstream for me.Carter said:

Another plus 1 for The Queen's Gambit. On the surface it did not look like my sort of thing and my wife said "you will not like this". However I am finding it very watcable and as a chess player myself it has the added attraction.2

Just smashed through the last series of Suburra.
Usual high octane violence and double crossing that rumbles along.
One thing that came to me whilst watching this one is that I haven't seen a single copper in any episode over the three series!
Anyone else who has watched it will know how preposterous that is.2 -
Half way through Hunters on Amazon. It’s got a comic element too it without being completely OTT. It’s good, plus who doesn’t love Nazis being killed.1

I enjoyed that but felt like it lost its way quite badly towards the end. I think it is based on a graphic novel actuallyValleyGary said:Half way through Hunters on Amazon.
