Too many for a professional striker in the Championship
Blame anyone blame Bowyer.
If the roles are reversed and its Hogan v Phillips then we'd all be saying that Phillips has to try and save it
Anyway, doesn’t matter. Onto Saturday.1 -
Hogan actually missed an open goal from the penalty rebound. Really should have scored.4

The only thing I can think of to write is Arrrgggghhhhhhhh!!!!
I feel better now.3 -
McGeady looked good. One shot and goal and we survive. He needs to be given the ball6

Thought McGeady was terrific at times.
Far from over this.
Keep the faith everyone.5 -

If Bowyer had stuck with the 11 for the entire game, we'd have been tired but I believe we'd have seen it out.
At least take off the strugglers for hungry young quick players.3 -

Even if there’s a winner with Luton & Hull on Saturday, we beat Wigan & their 12 point deduction puts them down0 -

Bowyers getting the pelters but it's JJ that looks after the defence.

We never do things the easy way, and we always seem to get results when we least expect them.
Being reasonable never write this charlton team off.
I would not bet against us on the final day of the season beating Leeds
You just never know.1 -

Time to reflect.
I think we're down. Them last 5 minutes were huge. I can't see us getting anything against Wigan or Leeds I think they must be the top 2 inform teams.
Hate seeing Lee getting the blame. The amount of crap he has had to deal with is like no other. Has done wonders for us to be in the position we are.
That was 2 poor teams out there. I don't think we can moan to much about relegation we just haven't been good enough.
Win lose or draw
Prem champ league 1 or 2
I will always be Charlton.
There are a few players whose game would be elevated with better players around them, but we just lack the quality of player that other teams have. Not having a go, they have made up for the gap with effort and being organised, but we just couldn't suffer the loss of Gallagher, Leko and Taylor for large parts of the season, without feeling that effect.0 -

Fuck. Remember when we were 2nd in the championship?3

Many posters are saying that we now need a miracle.
Well the fact we still have a chance on Saturday to get out of this mess is a bloody miracle....stranger things have happened and maybe Wigan will crumple under the pressure... Maybe not... But we should look forward to it and put tonight to bed.
We go again!6 -

We didnt win the game because we took off the 3 players that were running at them & causing them problems (Dougherty, Williams & McGeady). Don't tell me that a professional footballer who has had 2 months off & been playing 30-45 mins every 3 or 4 days for less than a month cant play 80 or 90 mins for ONE match. If they cant then they should hang up their boots. Can't remember what match it was the other day but both teams were unchanged from the match before.
I'm not one for quotes & the "definition of insanity is doing the same thing over & over....blah blah blah" is a bit tweet......but fucking hell. If you cant see that we have thrown away point after point this season by taking off attackers & bringing on defenders then you shouldnt be in management. Bowyer needs to take responsibility & not throw Bonne under the bus again or moan at the officials like k previous games. This one is all on him.

I honestly don't know what's breaking my heart the most tonight.
The ultimate fate of our beloved football club....
...or the fate of thousands of innocent bears in Asia, as being shown on BBC 2 currently ( Bears about the House with Wadhurst resident Giles Clark)
Either way, I'm in floods of tears ( poor old soul) with the worst of it being, I can do very little to influence the outcome for either.
I KNOW there are more important, pressing & distressing things happening in our world today but tonight , those 2 issues are uppermost in my mind ....
I'll continue to donate to charities supporting abused, neglected & abandoned animals & sign every petition I'm offered in an effort to influence the wellbeing of those who have no voice of their own.
Then there is football...a sport which should be fun to watch ; something to be excited & passionate about.
Therein lies the problem.
I can take the ups & downs of being an Addick like the best of us. Indeed who could forget the euphoria & pride in our hearts as we celebrated our victory in North London last year and we dared to hope that this might be the start of bigger & better things.
Under Bow , JJ & SG the auspices were favourable - 3 guys that "got" our dear old football club as did we, the faithful. Of course we were fully aware of the budget restrictions they laboured under but with a soupcon of luck plus hard work we MIGHT just succeed in this most difficult of leagues.
What we didn't factor in was the legacy of our club's former owners which, in addition to the difficult years under Duchatelet's stewardship, meant that the tenuous foothold we had in the Championship was increasingly difficult to maintain.
There was a tantalising glimpse of something special on the horizon but the waters around our ownership had rarely been more muddied, with the whole sorry, worrying saga still to be resolved...if that's ever possible. Why us ??????
With virtually NO financial investment in the squad, the task of keeping our heads above water became inevitably more & more difficult. The loss of Gallagher & Taylor, initially with injury & then through lack of a decent contract offer were probably the final nails in our leaking coffin but the lads continued to fight against all the odds. I don't believe there has been more than a handful of instances where we could point the finger to accuse a player of not giving his all for the cause - unfortunately this proved insufficient time & time again against opposition squads with proven Championship experience & nous.
No-one could fail to recognise the immense task that our management faced once the superb start of the season became a distant memory & we must never forget the manner in which Bow & co stepped up to the plate time after time in motivating players whose heads were in danger of dropping, with seemingly the world & his wife against us. Covid19 gave everyone a chance to regroup with our club at its lowest ebb & at first it seemed that the break had been what the doctor ordered.
Sadly, like most good things, this honeymoon period has come to a disappointing end and it will take something akin to a miracle to save us from relegation IMO.
It's all too easy to apportion blame for our current position but please try to look past this & the bitterness that comes to the fore following the gut wrenching end of tonight's match. As soon as Bow made his 3 subs, I turned to Mr F & said that this could be a turning point ....I knew that many Lifers would criticise the gaffer for those decisions and TBH , I could agree to a point but we now have to look past tonight. Devastating as the end result was, it's water under the bridge & we have to move on...firstly to Saturday, then next Wednesday but most importantly, to our club's future. THIS is what we have to focus on now.
IF that miracle fails to happen & we look to visiting Swindon , Portsmouth and yes, even Sunderland once again, I'm certain that we will have regained our equilibrium, our positivity and most of all, our unconditional love for this famous football club - because that's what we do. THAT'S what keeps a football club alive with its heart beating against all the odds despite all the shenanigans behind the scene/in the courts/ in the carpark...
Our club needs us now more than before.
We can but hope that it will soon be in the hands of someone who cares for it as much as we do.
Keep the faith.

too many c***s spoil the broth
with Zero Integrity to boot.
Only the Charlton Faithful and Lee Bowyer have supported this Club.
and if a Miracle keeps us up, and the Tossers in the EFL pull their finger out and approve our takeover
then we all could see better Days.
i cannot see much investment or anything positive back in League 1 👎👎0 -
As crushing as it is, I think people need to realise we are playing Wigan at home Saturday.. not Man City.
Yes it will be a tough.. very tough but they have lost 17 games this season.. it may be 18 come 5pm Saturday.
And trust me, I am as pissed off as you all

That's a very big "if" given that we are playing a side that has won 9 of their last 12 and who scored twice as many goals in their last match as we have in our last 10 games put together!3 -

We go again!
A single game to be in the Championship. Winner takes all. We aren't favourites but who cares.1 -
I feel gutted.
The only good thing is we didn't lose 2-1 because I could see that happening. Those below us now need a WIN to overtake us assuming we get no more points which is entirely possible although I hope we might scrap another draw against Wigan and not get too hammered at Leeds.
Glad I voted Phillips Player of the Year.
Bowyer has worked an absolute miracle to keep us out of the bottom 3 all season, bar that one potentially crucial week, with just 2 games to go.
Our luck must turn and we get something out of one of these two remaining games.
Sorry about the 'stream of consciousness' incoherence but despite being inured to disappointment from 57 years of Charlton I'm feeling it more than normal tonight.15 -

The Wigan game is Sunderland at Wembley all over again. We can do it. I think we will.6

Please don't blame LB and the players for what happened tonight and what it means for next season. They all did their best in very difficult circumstances.
Remember, there is only one person to blame for the events that created this sad state of affairs.
The nationality of that person is Belgian.6
