I'll say it again. He cost us the game. Took off all our attacking threat & brought on defenders.
All we had to do was to win the game. I said it during the match thread not to take off players who could run with the ball. Just like against Brentford he took off the players who created the goal (Williams & Doughty) & wonder why we let them back into it4 -

An absolute sickener – but we did not deserve to win. Brum had 24 shots to our seven. Phillips made excellent saves, best of all diving to his right to parry a fierce low shot through a crowd.
We had 60 per cent of the possession – most of it ineffective. Pissing about on the halfway line, putting team-mates under pressure with hospital balls. One of our perennial problems is strikers like statues – no movement to make space or invite passes from midfield. And when Hemed and Bonne do eventually get possession, they haven’t the skill or cunning to threaten the goal.
Doughty accelerates and leaves the defender for dead – and two minutes later makes a basic mistake, leaving us exposed. Chuks did well as sub, driving at the defence. Our central defenders were resolute as usual: Lockyer made vital last-ditch tackles.
McGeady is bang ordinary at best. Cullen made errors: causing the penalty was the worst of several. Crowley and Gardner bossed the game in Brum’s favour.
Brum, Boro and Stoke seem to be safe. Will we avoid the drop? By one point, one place...?

To be brutally honest this season after the amazing day at Wembley has been pretty painful to watch especially since xmas.
The hope generated in October by ESI through to early January was wonderful thinking we had rich owners. Then... everything fell apart and actually continues to fall apart.
No fan can say that they've enjoyed the football served up... No money, no decent players an inexperienced manager has all contributed to this.
I said last week that we have far bigger problems with the ownership than trying to survive in the Championship.
I would take relegation now if PV and Barclay can take control and give us the stability that we so deserve.
I want my Charlton back... I want that Belgium basterd gone along with the current hangers on.....
But trust me the EFL haven't finished with us yet and nobody can say what they might do.
I'm not sure that survival is what we should be hoping for... I actually think it could make our problems much larger.

Caretaker manager for Brum: "Most shots and most shots on target since October", what does that tell you?1

Devastating but deserved. You ripe what you sow.
we don’t have strikers our manger makes so so many wrong subs...

Am I right in thinking that if Barnsley lose tomorrow & we beat Wigan, we’re safe no matter what?
Even if there’s a winner with Luton & Hull on Saturday, we beat Wigan & their 12 point deduction puts them down1 -

I am a huge fan of Lee Bowyer
but I am afraid I would not have taken WILLIAMS off.
we would have Won I am certain if Williams stayed on and then Luton’s trip to Hull would have been less advantageous.0 -
Just checked TransferMarkt has him listed as CM.
I wouldn't want him there.0 -
Easy to say I know, but I swear I would accept relegation now if it could be guaranteed that we would rid ourselves of that piece of excrement residing in Belgium, as well as the other assorted parasites who have attached themselves to our club in the name of ownership.
There is NO hope for our club in the current circumstances.
Oh, and Murray can fuck off as well.

Hoping for something positive to come of all of this, but it’s hard to imagine when it’s pretty much a constant flow of negativity.Whatever happens I’ll keep supporting the team, but bloody hell it’s been a slog recently!5

ross1 said:The easy thing to do is relax, why worry about relegation, nobody will agree a price with RD, so we stumble on, any chance of getting loan players such as Cullen and Field will be out of the question, young players like Doughty will find another club and any other young players with contracts will be sold cheaply. We will have no money to get any decent players and no good loans will want to play in League 1. If fans can come back to the Valley, how many will we get. So you see, nothing to worry about, sob, sob, sob. Why was I born in Charlton?
His approach was how can we have an identity with no owners / players who dont want to play for us
Neither of those two make up what Charlton Athletic is all about, none of us want to be relegated for me its just about not being one of the three bottom clubs in the Division - The mess the club is in, I honestly dont care what Division we're in, I'm just happy at the moment that I've got this fantastic club to support with such a good community / collection of fans that I can argue / debate with on here... Going down to League One and facing the likes of Rochdale doesnt bother me, nor do I get the snobbish attitude about being below Wycombe or at the level or Rochdale (thats just the revolving life of Football)
Unfortunately due to the way the club was ran after relegation from the Premier League, we've gone from being a club that is of Championship standard to being a club that is going to yoyo between the Championship and League One, there is a gulf thats been created by too many clubs at this level which is going to make it difficult for us to break into permanently again and will need time and patience
Anyway I've gone off on a tangent, my point is I'm not bothered if we cant get the likes of Cullen | Field | Doughty to stay at the club, players will come and go, same with the owners... they're not what this Football club is!!... We are!!
So at the end of the day there is really no point in worrying about relegation, we may go down this year, we may not... If we dont then are we just going to be delaying the inevitable for 10-months
Just with the economic world in such a mess at the moment its great being able to see Charlton play, regardless of how shit we are in the ninety minutes3 -

There was no one to put their foot on the ball, slow things down, keep possession, draw fouls and generally frustrate the hell out of them, as other teams do to us in the final minutes when we're losing.
Oztumer could have done it, but he wasn't even on the bench.
We just kept inviting pressure down our right side with endless long throws into the box.
Something had to give and 7 minutes was always going to be too much for us.
The king of drawing fouls Williams, was taken off, why can't He play any longer ?
I feel so frustrated after that. Field stay on Bellingham and Doughty stay on to give Cafc an outlet. Aneke was doing a great job of holding up the ball.

aliwibble said:ForeverAddickted said:So the sole bit of positivity I can take from this:
Reading and Birmingham both knew that any result against us was a bonus (Reading were helped by being given an early lead) so sat back because they knew the result would mean safety...
These last two games have proven we cannot break teams down that sit back, we just dont have the playmaker to do it
Wigan on the other hand cannot do that on Saturday
They have to come to the Valley and win, failure to do so and they're all but down, we CAN exploit that if we're clever enough
Am convinced our defence wont capitulate in the same fashion as Hull did, its just about making sure we take our chances for once1 - Sponsored links:

Still in our own hands as unlikely as it looks
We never do things the easy way, and we always seem to get results when we least expect them.
Being reasonable never write this charlton team off.
I would not bet against us on the final day of the season beating Leeds
You just never know.1 -
The fact of the matter is we’re a bang average side who had better players in League One last year.
Without investment in Jan we were always heading one way, losing Conor and then Lyle just added to the problem. If we stay up and at this point it’s a massive IF - then Bowyer has worked wonders.Whatever happens, stay up or go down - this club needs big changes starting with ownership. If we can keeps Bows and some of the home grown talent (Phillips, Doughty, Morgan) we’ll have a good base to start again.12 -
I'm going to stick £20 on a Leeds win just to ensure we win.4

Stoke: Home to Brentford
Middlesbrough: Home to Cardiff
Birmingham: Away at Preston
We'd have four teams between us and the drop, not counting the points deduction that would surely doom Wigan
Just hope that Wigan come to the Valley a little too confident like a few on here are too worried after their recent result... We're not Hull2 -

Wigan will have to do that for 90mins on Saturday
They were created chances than anything that we had against Reading (apart from the robbed goal) and when it was 0-0 tonight
That tells you everything you need to know, I only half joke when you reading me saying we need to give the opposition the ball0
