Then the Tory fellow won the seat by around 100 votes (making Bury North the most marginal seat in England). He has not been quiet on the matter of Bury Fc but maybe not as effective as the outgoing James Frith in his efforts.
Last month James Frith tweeted that it was hard to carry on his work for Bury Fc as he is now "out of office without the power or mandate. My plans went with the election. Done a bit with Phoenix and plan to go along when we’re all able to meet up again. I published my plan for the ground."
I've just been talking to my next door neighbour, who is a coach/sports scientist for Leicester City, about the Wigan situation and he agreed that the EFL cant stop the points deduction otherwise any other club that have debts can blame dodgy deals and Covid-19 and would expect the same leniency.
I also asked if there was any truth, as previously reported on the Taylor thread, that Lyle was going to Leicester, his answer was and I quote, " I've not heard anything about him coming here and Leicester are looking to buy players that are a lot younger than 30, and Taylor wouldn't fit that profile". So unless he is telling me porkies or genuinely doesn't know....Taylor isn't going there!!
Hadn't even heard of him being linked with a move there. Leicester are 3rd in the premier league and chasing a Champions league spot. At the very minimum they'll be in the Europa league next year.
I'm sure a journeyman striker from a relegation threatened championship side with a grand total of 22 appearances at a level higher than league one is not on their radar.

I hadn't either but someone (cant remember who and I'm not trawling through the thread to find it) mentioned something about seeing him (Taylor) at a golf driving range and mentioned off to LCFC, so I asked my neighbour yesterday. As I said it seems to be BS, which I fully expected .
It does make you appreciate a bit more what Chris Parkes used to say about how Roland always paid the bills. He absolutely hated us but even he didn't just decide he couldn't be arsed to keep people in jobs and pull all his cash out. Roland is in no way a good bloke, and he's still wanting repaying for all the money he ever put in, but just deciding you don't fancy paying for a club you agreed to take on and walking away is the lowest of the low.
Don't think he'd have thought twice about pulling the plug on funding if he didn't think he could recoup all his money from flogging the stadium. He kept paying the bills because it was in his interests to do so. If he gave one solitary toss about the wellbeing of his staff then he would have paid the bonuses he promised.
We're all a bit cynical of Duchatelet. And with some good reason.
But ..... let's not forget he's had history as a socialist politically, formed his own people's party or whatever it was called. He likes to think of himself as some kind of reformer.
Also ...... he's been kind to injured players out of contract (Leon Best springs to mind), where he continued paying them for an extended period - where legally, he didn't have to.

As for Lisa Nandy she has done her job as an MP. She has spoken out and got national attention for Wigan’s plight. I regret to say that in our case messrs Pennycook and Efford have been silent recently. But of course the latter is an effing Spanner. Maybe my mistake when writing to him was to emphasise the Romanian money launderer. Far more effective to point out that if Charlton go down or bust, the Spanners lose their 6 point guarantee. I will try that on him.
I have nothing against these two particularly and Andy Burnham is definitely one of our better politicians.
BUT I prefer leaders who stand up and say things like "This is OUR fault - WE must do something about it".
We have discovered that the EFL cannot do absolutely anything about bad owners except deduct points or expel the team from the league.
Now we are suggesting that they don't do either of these things because "somebody" should have prevented the sale "somehow". So let's blame "somebody" for the problem.

If you mean OUR fault, as in all of us fans who just accept the whole shit structure of English football, rather than organising mass protests and harassing their politicians to get that structure changed, then I agree with you. I fear that that is not what you meant. Are you familiar for example with the Bill that Clive Efford tried and failed to get through Parliament, or all the reform work Damian Collins tried to push through when he was at DCMS? If not, then dont worry as I guess 95% of other Lifers are not either. And thats the problem. Politicians need to feel popular pressure and support from voters for such changes, because after all they will be going against the interests fo entire countries ( Abu Dhabi) as well as Russian economic hustlers and very English pornbrokers.

2) Lend money to the company.
3) Take all that money as salary / payments to yourself and spend it how you want.
4) Put the company into administration.
5) Claim the company owes you the money which you lent it!
The whole system seems wrong - not just football. Trying to blame the EFL or any organisation / individual is pointless. We need to change the laws of the land to stop it happening.
So it's down to us as voters if we want to do something about it.

The difference a few miles make to a fan forum. On our forum it only takes a few comments before we Londoners bring the conversation back to house buying.
Whatever we think of the Wigan situation, rules are rules and the EFL aren’t going to NOT impose the points deduction because that would be unlawful and it would get overturned by any club that challenged it.
The game needs a massive restructuring, I think everyone outside of the EFL agrees that but for now, the rules remain and we are essentially 5 points clear of the bottom 3.

The Phoenix club was admitted to tier 10, the North West Counties League in February 2020.
