Leaving sarcasm aside - why do you think it's so strange that people are asking questions or doubting the Aussies, considering how bad the last 2 sets of owners have been?Henry Irving said:

If they hold all the aces then they are playing a very bad hand imo. Season starts in 5 days time & transfer window shuts in 10 days time. Roland is selling players for peanuts & as it stands our front line on Saturday will be a player loaned out last season & the other a youngster who hasn't scored a league goal in his career. If they are playing "the long game" then someone had better tell them that it has taken us 3 years (and counting) to get out of this league.......it will take a damn sight longer than 5 to even get into the Championship from league 2.Taxi_Lad said:I have no inside info but my guess is that the Aussies are holding up the deal and who can blame them. RD must want rid, he’s losing money month by month and will struggle to get another offer anywhere near this one. The Aussies hold all the aces IMO
As for the delay causing the Aussies grief, I believe @JamesSeed previously mentioned that GM told him that they weren’t bothered as they are in for the long haul
As I said last week, I don't who is worse.......Roland or the Aussies.
They must have known the club is for sale for ages but have only just shown interest so not really committed.
They have not proved they have got any money either so most likely haven't got any.
New unknown owners out.1 -

If Duchatelet thinks either group will pay him more than the Aussies he'll hang around longer in the hope of a few million extra. Two birds in the bush worth more than the bird in hand with him and has been for over a year.1 -
This group has probably been around for some time, but might have been freshened up with a new backer. I agree that that could well be why the Aussies haven't completed- because Duchatelet is hoping for a higher bid. Absolute disgrace if true, and whoever is behind it should hang their head in shame.1

So are you saying it definitely is Duchatelet that’s the delay ?JamesSeed said:This group has probably been around for some time, but might have been freshened up with a new backer. This is based on this quite strong rumour about other serious bidders being around. Why would he complete when he might have been promised more, by someone he knows and trusts?

My point being, other than RD nicking a few 100k in transfers and a weakened squad and irritation of the fanbase, the Aussies suffer no further pain whilst at the same time saving £1m per month running costs. Add to that the 7m director loans if they are digging their heels in). That really is a massive financial saving, money that can be spent on rebuilding everything RD has ruinedgolfaddick said:

Is that Bugsby's Way ?seth plum said:6 -
Maybe that 2+2=5 but:
The directors loans have been discussed as an issue for the last few weeks and its agreed they wouldn't suddenly become an issue for the aussies after dd, as they are public knowledge.
It was rumoured that a lease deal for the stadium/training ground was on the table.
It was stated clearly, by the club and them selves, that the aussies want to buy lock stock and barrel.
So....... The "other bid" want to buy the club and lease the ground? Therefore need clear title?
If any of that is true it stinks of Murray!0 -
Perhaps, that's the plan. They've realised that if they never take over they can save between £35M & £60M over the next 5 years.oohaahmortimer said:
Why takeover at Christmas, takeover late next summer and save another £8m.BigRedEvil said:Firmly believe the deal is dead, why takeover this close to the season with no chance to shape the squad? Save £4m in running costs and do a deal nearer Christmas

If it is Murray, he's behaving like the Oyston's at Blackpool. Grabbing the club in a vice grip and never letting go despite what it's actually doing to the fans. If the Ground is leased and he's involved, he'll be getting both barrels from me and quite a number of others.14

I think we should question all and any owners (I've got my six ready) whoever they are.
But deciding the Aussies are worse than Duchatelet is just self-flagalation.
We don't know if the Aussies will be good or bad owners and they need to prove themselves. I really hope people don't use the "well, they saved us from admin/the spivs/Roland" line as a reason to not scrutinise or critise them.
We don't need to ask if Duchatelet was good or bad. We know he's been a total disaster.9 -
I think all the rumours of about Brit bidders have hinted at him being involved haven’t they? RD hasn't sold up yet. He's potentially got another interested party. Here's some wild speculation. It's a consortium based around some of the former directors, headed up by Richard Murray. They've offered to cancel the £7m debt in return for control of the football club, leasing the Valley and Sparrows Lane from Duchatalet. The debt to be paid off by rent over the next twenty years. Murray gets control of the club. Duchatalet gets his full asking price, paid as rent on the assets. And we only have to wait another twenty years before seeing if Murray will sell the club to a proper investor.
Compared to this scenario, would the Aussie bashers be prepared to see them in a more favourable light?3 -
As we've seen this week with RD trying to drive up a bidding war for Bauer, this is classic Duchatelet. He has an offer, but it's not good enough for him, so he'll try to drum up interest from elsewhere and end up losing out and selling for less, just like he did with Magennis.9

Oh another thought, question for @Airman Brown and @Davidsmith all the focus is on a possible murray involved consortium but is it possible that any other ex directors could get involved?
All I know about them is the names and some faces. Oh and that they don't like Murray. Is it possible that 2 or 3 of them could get involved again? I have no idea on any of their personal wealth, circumstance or desires. Just putting it out there.0 -
Been speculated that Murray might have some involvement in the mystery second consortium but didn’t Airman suggest there is NEW interest?0
