The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

Looks like my takeover prediction date of 9 August might be spot on.
Or hopelessly optimistic....1 -
I’m serious, we can hold on for 2 weeks.2
-
Then mid table league 1 is the best we can hope for. No strength in depth, injured players already. Its so frustrating, this club has so much potential and for one reason or another, every season is the same. Christ knows what we've done as fans of Charlton to warrant such shit times but im just sick of it. Sad.JamesSeed said:

2 weeks becomes 3 weeks.
3 weeks becomes 4 weeks.
Ad infinitum0 -
What If the takeover does finally happen? Say end of August. I’m sure it will create a good buzz around the place. We still have the January window to make a big push for promotion. I also believe we have a much better manager this season who can get the best out of our players.Redvalleyeast said:

Or is this a hidden message - "Roland, are you listening ? We know we are your only option. It's too late for us to put together a promotion team for this season so we are not in any hurry to complete a deal. We can wait while your debts pile up ..... unless you agree to our price NOW".JamesSeed said:

So shooting him would put him out if his misery.....?razil said:
I expect he gets peppered with cheap shots and inboxes...SDAddick said:
I don't know about the rest of you, but I say we shoot the messenger as a sacrifice to the takeover gods. Now that may sound ridiculous, because it is ridiculous, but do YOU have any better ideas?JamesSeed said:ok but please don’t shoot the messenger:
GM anticipating ‘a difficult two weeks ahead’.
But also that ‘it’ll all be worthwhile’.
Which is slightly depressing if you hoped it would happen before the start of the season, but positive if you thought it wouldn’t happen this season at all, or they were pulling out.
I’m sure he’d want to apologise for not being able to share any proper details, but if you start breaking NDAs you immediately lose all business credibility.
[*turns off phone, dives for cover*]
PS 16/1 is poor value.
(as always thanks for the info James)1 -
And the rest. With our squad as thin as a postage stamp we have to bring 5 loans in and they all need to make an immediate impact.AveryAddick said:Still got the loan market till end of August. 2/3 excellent loans could make all the difference till January .
Mid table at best, relegation dogfight looms.0 -

"You could have bought the club in June and had a summer to build a promotion side and start your era off on a wave of optimism. Instead, because of the delays you'll go into this season with a mediocre squad (especially when Bauer and Magennis get sold in August), and start your era with a year struggling in L1, racking up losses, and then over spending in the January window to try and save the season"0 -
If it happens the wait will have killed of some of the excitement. Due to the time it's taken there will be a lot more fans having doubts about the Aussies, whether that's fair or not. Looking across social media over the last few weeks I've seen more comments blaming them for the delay or doubting they'll be good for the club.Moo said:

If we can't get a permanent deal done then some suggested loan deals:AveryAddick said:Still got the loan market till end of August. 2/3 excellent loans could make all the difference till January .
Loans out: Roland; Uncle Dicky; Burger Tony.
Loans in: Bomber Muir; @JamesSeed's drinking buddy; Chairman Elliot; Reg (would be nice but not sure about his availability)
We can worry about the rest later.3 -
I admire your optimism,I really do. Whether a buzz is created or not, if we haven't got the players and the strength in depth and the transfer window is shut then for all the good will in the world mid table beckons. I want to be so wrong and I hope I am.Moo said:

Also, i forgot to mentioncafcwill said:I'm still clinging on to the fact that Yann and Bent are still free agents.
Would be cracking opening signings for the Aussies when they announce the takeover
players that are Free Agents before the Closure of Transfer Window can be signed after
So this would also be possible after the window shuts
The dream is still alive!2 -

Well from what James has said they have a five year plan to get us to the premier league. Think we have to hold onto the hope that it will happen.Scoham said:

What can be the two week significance be? EFL approval? How can it be time limited? £7m loans? If it is an issue now, it will be no less so in a fortnight. No 'difficult two weeks' is the window closing with Bauer Mag and others looking for their coats. Luckily Fosu is stuck here until January. So I believe the takeover is further on the horizon than this and am struggling to find reasons for delays apart from a previously mentioned potential tax issue of RD's 5th anniversary Dec/Jan or a key investor trying to shed his other interest.1

Sadly, that's the reality. If things go well and we are lucky with injuries, we could be around the playoffs. If things go badly, we'll be near the bottom 3...Redvalleyeast said:

Back from 11 days in Menorca, how is the new regime shaping up? Are we minted?7

Yes, but that is irrelevant as in 2 weeks, when the transfer window closes, Roland has to fund the monthly loses while the Aussies can sit back and watch the money drain out of Staprix. They are in control now.killerandflash said:
