GM anticipating ‘a difficult two weeks ahead’.
But also that ‘it’ll all be worthwhile’.
Which is slightly depressing if you hoped it would happen before the start of the season, but positive if you thought it wouldn’t happen this season at all, or they were pulling out.
I’m sure he’d want to apologise for not being able to share any proper details, but if you start breaking NDAs you immedistely lose all business credibility.

It's sounding as if the best we can hope for is to muddle our way through to January with our current squad, hopefully staying within sight of playoffs and then invest in new additions to push second half of season. Maybe that is even too optimistic.3

I heard on the radio Aston Villa's new owners wanted to revalue the ground becuase EFL rulings may mean they have transfer money. Bizarrely I think this relates to Finance fair play.
If this is correct then it could spread some light on current vaulation of the Valley.0 -

Still got the loan market till end of August. 2/3 excellent loans could make all the difference till January .7

They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best
And...
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing
And...
Always look on the bright side of life
Etc...7 -
I'm not sure that's true anymore; rules have changed. Others will confirm...AveryAddick said:Still got the loan market till end of August. 2/3 excellent loans could make all the difference till January .

Paddy Power offering 17/1 on Charlton's relegation. Get in there and enjoy the value. I feel like the Rees-Mogg of Charlton, betting against his own.6

Time (well overdue) to take a break folks, we need to act like this isn't going to happen frustrating as that is.. and knuckle down for another season. Try and enjoy the period of time we have a Charlton man at the helm and see what he can do in such circumstances perhaps? Protest if you think it will help. There really are plenty of other things you can take up your time with, spouse, kids, sunshine, read a book, take up a new hobby (rather than this CL thread)

Thank you so much for letting us know James. The take over still happening is fantastic news. We’ve waited this long we can wait a bit more.7

I think Bowyer and Gallen have done extremely well under hugely difficult circumstances, with two good signings in Prately and Taylor, two good triallists (Ince and the other fella) and loanees to follow. We still need to strengthen all areas, barring the attack though. I think Bowyer will attract better loanees than Robinson was able to, because of who he is.AveryAddick said:Still got the loan market till end of August. 2/3 excellent loans could make all the difference till January .

Admire the optimisim but a couple more decent signings will be financed by the departures of Bauer and Magennis. Our squad will be around 18/19 with youngsters, and with 3/4 currently injured, we are in trouble.JamesSeed said:

I'm still clinging on to the fact that Yann and Bent are still free agents.
Would be cracking opening signings for the Aussies when they announce the takeover

Possibly but KR has managed to sign Carruthers from Sheff utd and Luke Garbutt from Everton. Both are very decent loans for league one level.JamesSeed said:

"Can you play in a 4-2-3-1?" - "Yes"
"Welcome to Oxford United"
Decent signings though.5 -
I don't know about the rest of you, but I say we shoot the messenger as a sacrifice to the takeover gods. Now that may sound ridiculous, because it is ridiculous, but do YOU have any better ideas?JamesSeed said:ok but please don’t shoot the messenger:

For several weeks I have been watching the comments on this thread about page number milestones. Would the sale go through by page 1000? Page 1100? Page 1111? Obviously each of these were passed without a change of ownership.
But it struck me that the important milestone - for me, at least - is closer to home. I now have 9,251 CL points. 749 more and the sale will go through.
FACT.3 -
The problem for Bowyer this summer is the uncertainty. Bring in cheap players/loanees in July, suddenly the takeover happens and we have money to spend, and presumably a bigger wages budget.JamesSeed said:

Robinson knows his transfer and wages budget for next season, so it's much easier for him to land targets. At this level, for all his flaws, he's still a respected manager as well4 -
Why the fuck is he getting involved? What next, Jack Dee as CEO? Thank god the Two Ronnies are dead, that's all I'll say.thenewbie said:
This assumes that the Australians are the ones not playing ball with the outstanding debts. It's not inconceivable that A) Murray is playing silly buggers to buy time for the mysterious "other bid" or B.) that some others are not happy with RD swanning off with a profit and not paying them money owed.golfaddick said:
For the record I'm not blaming the Aussies for the delay but merely stating that the whole sorry saga could be finalised if they simply took over the ex-director loans the same as RD did. They don't have to pay the £7m now & maybe not even ever as they only have to be repaid once we get to the Premiership.....and that may never happen.......or sometime in the future the "7" do a deal & take less money. It is plain to see that RD is not going to pay the full amount anytime soon & I'd had thought that to get supporters onside then making out to be the "good guys" in all this would be in their best interests. Instead, it seems to me, they are happy to see their "investment" slowly lose more of its value because as every week goes by we are getting weaker & weaker & they will have to spend even more money trying to get us promoted in 2019/20 as to sure to god we ain't got a cat in hells chance this season.Henry Irving said:Quite a few, but yes a minority, have tried to put some or all of the blame on the Aussies.
You only have to read Golfies post to see the most extreme version of this but after the Fans Forums when LDT said the delay was down to EFL paperwork a lot of fingers were pointed at the convicts.
and, to answer @James Seed, T hat is why I feel they are worse than RD. We all know he don't give a shit......seems they don't either.
All theoretical but the Australians have no reason not to wrap it up ASAP and I can't see why they wouldn't take on/write off the debt if they could, so it seems for whatever reason they can't.0
