It's not a haircut! One of Roland's ancestors has clearly dropped a giant turd on Sam's head, in what was deemed at the time to be a pre-emptive strike!killerandflash said:

He'd have to take his gloves off though wouldn't he? Hey there's another cost cutting measure right there - don't buy gloves for the keeper. Totally unnecessary.oohaahmortimer said:
The keeper can move around and make himself busy , maybe do what dazzlers possibly gonna do once the takeover happenscafcfan said:I like this lights stuff.
My car's got adaptive headlights so surely it would be quite easy to have adaptive floodlights at the ground?
Only light up the bit of the pitch where there's any activity. Although I suppose the opposition goalkeeper might get a bit hacked off being in total darkness all match.0 -
Sam was a great goalkeeper, and a lovely man, I only saw him play for about the last five years of his career, and I used to go into his shop and if he was there, he always took the time to speak to everyoneUboat said:
I don't want to disparage the great man, but that just looks like an uncoordinated person falling over.cafcfan said:

I think it is fair to say that the technical side of goalkeeping was not anywhere near what it is now. But would Bartram be a great keeper now - From what I have read - and I have read a lot about him, I think there can be little doubt he would. Yes, he would need to receive the equipment and coaching current keepers have and he clearly had all the phyiscal attributes.Johnnysummers5 said:

In many ways he was ahead of his time. He often played the ball out, well into the opponents half. This didn't endear him to the England selectors but fans of all clubs loved him. He was an entertainer. At his peak, he was clearly the best keeper of his day. He is rightly a legend and there can't be a better figure head for our great club. I would really love to see the great man play one match - just one match.20 -
The six years of the war and Frank Swift were the reasons why our Sam didn't win 80 odd caps for England.4
-
Saw a lot of Bartram and Swift on one occaison
There were others post war with whom Sam had to compete - Bert Williams and Ted Ditchburn for instance.
Across football Bartram was the player most assocoiated with CAFC6 -

Bit harsh calling her a "Nightmeire" and "the slag of the Massives"!!!!1 -
If I remember rightly, this photo was taken at Bartram's audition for Billy Elliot. He was rejected for the lead role on the grounds that he was too big and not camp enough. They offered him the part as grumpy Scottish father but he turned it down stating that it was the lead role or nothing.cafcfan said:

I have had twitter notifications set up for the CAFC account ever since April when it looked like it was a done deal. Has this had a negative affect on the chance of takeover being completed? Shall I turn off notifications? Can't he just sell the bloody club so I can get my season ticket again and look forward to the start of the season?1

I can envisage takeover meetings going on in December, under candle light!
All desperate times, I just hope RD uses his stupid brain and bloody sells the club, otherwise the purse strings get worse and could be in adminstration by then.0 -
Aston Villa get new investment.0
-
Can people stop worrying about this please - we cannot go into administration, as Roland would lose even more than he is potentially losing in this sale. The club only owes money to Staprix (Roland's company). If he sent us into admin, the administrators would be able to sell the club to the highest bidder, which would be a lot less than the purported £40m that the Aussies are spending. Roland would potentially be throwing away twenty or thirty million quid by such action, so it is not going to happen. He may be daft but he's not stupid!IT_Andy said:I can envisage takeover meetings going on in December, under candle light!

Interesting that Villa's new investors have come form nowhere and passed the EFL test and have been announced by the club. Meanwhile, we're no further on in 12 months with the Aussies.9

There's an element of tongue-in-cheek remark at this but some business people have weird minds. It's been said before about Blackpool or Leyton Orient.Pedro45 said:
