    Utter respect to Mel for resigning from this complete shambles of a club / regime. She came to East Kent Addicks last week and I echo what others said about her Bromley visit.

    She was forthcoming and brave to take any comments or questions about communication from both before her time and since. She also spoke privately to anyone who was concerned / had any pertinent issues they wanted discussing.

    She is very genuine and I was very hopeful. But no. Roland and KM have made her resign (through their actions) and that is disgraceful.

    Katrien and Roland, please realise that you are in the extreme minority. The whole world can't be wrong.

    Get ahead of the pack and send in your CV! I can't imagine much has changed since the job advert closed last year...or maybe it has: http://fcbusiness.co.uk/jobs/detail/jobcode=425/title=head+of+communications+-+charlton+athletic+fc .

    Key requirements:

    At least 6 years’ weeks experience in a senior corporate or agency communications/PR role;
    A natural leader 'yes' man/woman who has no experience of managing a team;
    A strong communicator who can converse at senior levels with strong written and presentation skills; Please see the following statement as an example of the standard we expect: http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/statement-3009419.aspx
    A people person who has the ability to build strong relationships across all internal and external stakeholders; an ability to put 'names to faces' quickly is essential as labour turnover is so high.
    Experience of developing, managing and executing integrated communication strategies and tactical plans; If you can work the big screen to scupper the customers' planned revolts then the job's as good as yours.
    A track record of delivering high profile, innovative communication campaigns that have delivered results and achieved business objectives; think sofas etc

    This is such good PR for our cause I could almost believe that she was a CARD plant. A new head of comms, brought in specifically because of the club's problems with communications, resigns within months of starting after the ownership completely undermines her position with a mad statement. She probably took one look at the fans inbox she put together this morning and set her desk on fire.

    Well done of having principles Mel. Sorry you signed up for a shitty job.
  • I'm absolutely sure she will be monitoring this thread and those before it and although I've teased her a little about how well her first month in the job was going, I can only add my appreciation for trying in what must have been impossible circumstances.

    I congratulate you Mel on taking a principled approach and wish you every success in your future career. Let's hope it's with a properly ran business and you are left alone to do your job.

    I wonder what Shay Given thinks of this?

    Dunno, but Gary Walsh is said to be 'very disappointed'

    Mel Baroni to the tune of D I S C O, like Sheff Weds song for Di Canio

    However Bruce Grobelaar was quite philosophical about it all.

    I can't remembering him signing in the first place. How many games did he play, does he know Corby and polish Pete? What position does he play?

  • The owner and/or CEO have essentially replicated what they do with their managers I.e completely undermine them, allow them no real autonomy or authority and do their job for them badly. ..been the case since the tit told Powell to play those clowns up at Sheffield.

    If he had a pair of boots that didn't require duct taping he'd probably play himself centre mid on Saturday if he thought he'd get away with it.

    Goodbye Mel Baroni, you had a lovely name.

    But has salvaged her sanity. Sure she wil get a new job - probably looks good on her CV - refusing to work for such a pair of Cowboys. Well done Mel.

    She wasn't really in the job long enough for us to know if she was worth her salt or not though.

    Are you trying to suggest she's an old salt at this kind of thing?

    Are you implying her resignation was a tad salty?

    By the time I'd cludged together a joke, not only had someone else beat me to it - it was already edited out. Lax skills on my behalf there.
  • Would be good if CARD could get an interview with her although she may be reluctant to speak badly of them for fear of being classed a bitter ex employee.

    Resignation speaks volumes anyway.

    Have the club put out a statement about it yet lolz

    PWR. Feel really sorry for her, hope she sorts herself another position soon. Just shows how inept the regime is for her to walk after four weeks. That statement made her position untenable. I don't know about employment law but could she claim constructive dismissal as I'm sure if she had prior warning of the statement she'd have tried to stop it and if not then surely they have bypassed her and therefore made her job redundant. Good luck anyway and well done by having some principles. Take note Murray.

    Talking of Colin, has he resigned he seems to have gone incredibly quiet? I have yet to read his thoughts on Roland's statement

    He's been locked in the Marriott Bexleyheath with Marc Wilmots and James Henry since August last year, they can't find the room key
