Pretty sure Hreidarsson was taller. Probably not by much though!

It was Mike Kearns 6' 4"1/2 unless someone has beat him in recent years

Connor Gough was 6' 7" but didn't pass the CL height test so never played a games for us

Dave Shipperley was a big unit, I mean height wise.

    Has Roger Johnson left

Could be wrong but thought he was only on contract to end of last season.

Do you think he is/was consistent enough? I didnt see him enough to even guess, but reports on here were a bit variable.

Others will get more credit from yesterday but I was really impressed with Bauer. Won everything in the air and along with Diarra they reduced a £15m striker to one shot ( which went out for a throw)

Totally agree. On the basis of one game, looks like a great signing. Him and Diarra were solid, which gives the rest of the team confidence. There's not much better in this division.

Said in another thread, a proper "out and away" defender, whether it's out for a throw, a corner or just smashed from your own half nearly into the goal, all that matters to him is that the ball is no longer in a dangerous area. He can play a bit too, and looked calm on the ball, and was unlucky with his free header in the box, which would have capped off a great display.

As well as 99% of defenders in the division, I reckon. Gomez is the only really quick centre back we've had in a long time

Seen him twice now (yesterday & west ham psf) and really hope we can keep hold of him but have a feeling bigger vultures will be circling next close season

Hes on a long contact isnt he?

I think one sign of a good defender is that you only notice them if they make mistakes or when getting cautioned (I certainly noticed Chappell, Miller & Llera!). Yesterday I didnt really notice him. Offensivly he had one header from a corner, and hopefully him and Big Mak will development more of a treat in the next few games, as we shall need them to.
  • Probably been mentioned elsewhere but really good to see that little pick me up he gave pope after his fumble, exactly what you want your defender to be doing to the keeper after a howler. Also sarcastically cheering when he catches one doesn't help the young lads confidence either. Fair play to Patrick though. Been very impressed with him.
  • ^ I do agree with this but shame he also had to do it v Huddersfield too!

Yeah he almost does it on a weekly basis with Pope.

except the weeks when he wins CL MOTM
  • Four stiches in his head were required after clashing with Jazz Richards, wonder what an ordinary season is for Patrick after the dislocated finger a few weeks ago

Didn't realise he'd had stitches certainly made of strong stuff, I couldn't help but notice him running around the pitch back to the half way line to renter the fray. And when back on was immediately involved in a robust challenge. Him and Yann in the same side, now that would have been something............I know, move on :unamused:
