Johnson would be acceptable if it was in addition to strengthening the positions (and there are about five of those !) that are more of a priority. If it's instead of making additions in those areas then we've got big problems.
  • off topic - who was the bloke we had on a short loan from Wolves last season?

    Eggert Jonsson
    That was two seasons ago.
    So it was.

I have tried to forget the last year happened for a number of reasons, football and otherwise!
  • Is he the bloke who turned up for training when he was drunk ?

He must be drunk now if he's agreed to sign for us.
  • Hope this is not true , not what we need right now, a complete waster.

@colthe3rd Respectfully, "There was a time" isn't equal to "The past was all rosey," or "this club was never in any trouble" or "everything was perfect in the past."

Roger Johnson? Seriously? I'd rather have a set of patio furniture at centre half than that bloke. All we need now is to sign Ched Evans!

    Don't even jest!
    This needs a new thread…
"When Cheddar Evans comes" - well, we'd have to disguise it a little.
The "he;s not really guilty" debate has started on facebook in relation to a question "What of Roland brought in Ched!" - it is all so depressing.

Curbs signed Todd who punched the feck out of kiely
  • I'm just going to remind you all about the comments about Ben Haim and now he is up there for player of the season.

The game against City Roger was chucked in and West Ham as a club was rock bottom.

He was excellant against Cardiff away and some other games, I believe when he played didn't West Ham win over 70% of their games?.

Atleast give the guy a chance ffs written off before even kicking a ball.

Also met him in a bar in London when he was on loan at West Ham, used to also think he was a bell and but he is actually a nice guy.

  • Curbs was also keen to sign Charlie Miller, from Rangers, who had a reputation for enjoying himself

Maybe we'll play 3 centre back's with Solly and Wiggins as wing back's to get forward more in the hope it helps us create more. I don't know I'm just clutching at straws...

Would rather us try that with Gomez. If we're not gonna sign anyone our best chance of staying up is a 5-3-2 imo. Wiggins and Solly attacking on the wings, let Tal move up a bit as he's a decent passer, Joe for when it goes tits up and people break through and Bikey just playing as a defender. Could then have the Spurs lad protecting the back 3, JBG further forward for some creativity and JC doing the pressure work in the middle. Probably won't keep the ball much but we don't anyway and we'd be hard to break down and could catch people on the break.

Anyway on Roger Johnson i'd be gutted if we got him, considering we let go of Morrison who seemed happy to be here.

Yep fair point but it doesn't really help yearning for it though.
  • When he was on loan with us last season he was a very good solid pro, I know you're all wanting a striker etc but it's no reason to get on his back, he had an awkward time at Wolves granted but he did very well here and for someone he will be a very good player.

Fits the "free agent " tag given by Richard Caw ley tonight. Not against it, but unless we're targeting 1-0 wins 0-0 draws, is another CB the priority? I really wouldn't mind seeing us score more than once in a game. ..

    Fixed for you

Of course I'll give him a chance and judge him on what he does in a Charlton shirt IF he signs.

But what pisses me off the most is that he shouldn't even be signing for us, if we'd of kept Morrison (logical, common sense option) then we wouldn't even be considering signing a centre back. In fact we've got Gomez, I'd rather give him a chance and let him develop.

And most of all we could actually be focusing on areas were we badly need players (target man/creative midfielder/winger). I mean it won't happen but if it was Tim Cahill the free agent we were after I'd actually say it'd of been a half decent deadline day, atleast that would give us some option of Target man/attacking midfielder.

We probably won't even sign anyone on a free tomorrow anyhow and I'm wasting my time typing this.

Not really got a problem signing Johnson personally think he is better or will be a better option than Bikey. I think i am on my own though when i say Bikey is not very good, started well but has become a total liability just like at every other club he has been at.
