We do, and I don't mind Roger Johnson signing. Will be a good player at this level.

It's just a shame we don't need a defender, we need a striker and/or a creative midfielder before we should be signing any more defenders.
  • This smacks a bit of "he's available so let's sign him" regardless whether we need a centre back or not.

He has had his contract cancelled. So is a free agent.

Wolves have come to an agreement with former captain Roger Johnson to terminate the remainder of his contract after more than a season and a half out of favour at Molineux.
The 31-year-old centre-back, signed for £4m by Mick McCarthy from Birmingham City in the summer of 2011, was under contract until the end of this season.
But Wolves have taken the decision to get him off the payroll now.
Johnson, who now becomes a free agent, has been linked with Charlton Athletic.
The former Wycombe Wanderers and Cardiff City defender was a League Cup winner at Wembley with Birmingham just four years ago, only to leave Blues following relegation to sign for Wolves.
The BBC WM assessment on Roger Johnson
"Farewell, then, Roger Johnson. Many Wolves supporters will greet his departure as a cause for celebration. On reflection, emotions ought to be more sober. A player who arrived with a growing reputation, and was entrusted with the captaincy of a famous club, committed what should have been the prime of his career to Wolves and abjectly failed at huge expense. In 2011 Wolves fans chanted his name. Within a year they took his name in vain. There is still time for Johnson, at 31, to put his undoubted playing talents to good use somewhere else, but it will remain a regret to many - and perhaps to the player himself - that such a long section of his career has been wasted." (Mike Taylor, BBC WM)

    Subtle.
  • I'll take him, he was decent once, I just hope he still reads the game well.

Lets hope he's not had a drink...

Colin knows best. Whats his medical history?

I think he was treated for external hemorrhoids once.

Not everyone. I wanted to see good players come in to improve our midfield and attack. Not bothered if they're young, old, English, Belgian or something else.

It's been a year since Yann left and we still haven't replaced him. I don't blame the scouts, I'm sure Chapple and his team have come up with plenty of names. The Standard Liege scouts could probably do the same for strikers across Europe.

As has been said elsewhere it's down RD refusing to pay the going rate for the level of player we need. It's going to cost him more in the long run but he can't see that.
Ok majority of people on here , twitter , Facebook ect kept saying they wanted experienced champ players and that's what Johnson is , personally I'd prefer foreign players with potential because we know any young decent British players are too expensive.
  • He was on Soccer AM a few weeks ago. He came across fairly well.

I seem to recall him saying that he was training with the Wolves development squad / Youth them in the afternoons and had no real interaction with the first team.

Personally id be happy with him signing. The off field caper / Charlie big potatoes stuff is bit of a worry. But going on what he said on the TV he just wants to knuckle down and be playing football again. Better option than Bikey at the moment I would suggest.

Of course he could turn out to be a disaster signing, if he does we can just sling him on the list of other shambolic things that have happened of late.

You'll need to ask Colon rather than Colin

Pretty much my thoughts. I'm not going to castigate him for things he did at Wolves or previous clubs. If and when he signs for us, as far as I am concerned the slate is clean. The problem is, we just don't need another centre back. If we did, then I would have preferred us to have kept hold of Morrison and played him.

I thought this was a nailed on deal by all accounts and we were to announce that a free agent had signed. It would be laughable if we can't even get this one in

Even so, do we really need another CB? Is that a priority position? Why haven't we signed a forward and / or a creative midfielder?
  • We're leaking regular goals... so yes.

Cawley only confirms something once everyone bloody knows about it already on here or Twitter. Groundbreaking journalism that.
  • a decent central defender, though his record indicates that he can/could be a bit of a loose cannon. BUT he's not want we need, we need strikers and midfielders. But I would not be averse to him signing on a short term deal
  • Modus operandi - Sign up as many free defenders as we can, play a flat back 7, hope to draw our remaining games and pray it's enough.

Agree. But if he is better than what we have then I don't have an issue with him joining.

You went to the Rotherham game then.

  • No insider info but have a gut feeling that this won't materialise ...

Quite. Buyens and the Spurs bloke played as defenders, particularly when defending the goalkeeper's long free kicks

Luzon likes the long ball game.

Stick this clown up front and pump the balls up to him for Watt and Igor to feed off of.
  • Having had a morning to calm down at the ineptitude and tightness of the Egomanic and the truth dodger that are running our club, I think if Roger J has realised his past mistakes then he may be a good signing.
Bikey certainly looked knackered mentally and physically on Saturday.

I thought 5 pages ago it was all totally irrelevent to you ?

No, I said it was BECOMING totally irrelevant to me. Not quite there yet.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention though.
  • not even this deal has been completed in the morning LMAO.

    Shambles rodders
  • Not a good signing, Bikey needs a rest but we have Onyewu and Gomez on the books. We need signings in other positions
