    any gardeners that pop into this post, I need some advice on re-laying a lawn lol. The previous owner had a dog and has dug up and scratched so much of the grass its patchy and very uneven, not good for a little kid. Any help would be appreciated...and no I can't afford a landscape gardener in case that is the advice.

    If it is recoverable, you first need to rake over the bare patches to break up the compacted soil and get rid of any moss. Then you need top soil and mix with sand 5-1. (The 5 being sand) and grass seed and rake over the lawn until you have a flat surface. Water every day.

    If you can afford it, there are fertilisers to help new grass grow and surpress weeds, which will give a much nicer apearance. If your kids are going to be playing on it reguarly you will need a seed mix that includes rye grass as it is harder wearing.

    They go both ways and you can see both from the end and both from the side. The lines will always look more prominent going away from you than they would from side to side.

    The Chelsea training pitches, which on the area they've done cover about 3 std Valleys, were started much earlier cos of the size of area but seeded at the same time.

    They don't look anything like as nice but I guess they aren't getting mowed / groomed as often.

    Well i got a first hand feel for the new pitch today, when i received in the post some clippings from the grass and a small cutting from the astroturf from a mate who has been working at the club, im honestly not sure what he was thinking......

    Looks like the covered end has now had a lick of paint as well as new seats. Looks fantastic.

    When pitchside yesterday I noticed that the astroturf area gently slopes down from pitch level.

    Perhaps there was always a slope and I just never noticed it (I have walked around the edge of the pitch a few times) or it has been added as part of the rebuild.

    I guess it helps with water running off the pitch

    Coming along well.

    It is a pity we have those cup games at home in August, lets just pray it does not cut up too much.

    The pitch would have been made a lot higher than the old one, hence the now slope runoff. hopefully it isn't too much of a slope :)

    I assume that they are doing the Jimmy Seed Stand as well with regards to the steps and seats?

    I can't help but think that the sign needs updating too.

    not sure looks like they are replacing the seats they look grey

    Yup, behind both goals and in the front of West Stand. Swords in the corners apparently.
