Anorak observation: how safe is the AstroTurf for players wearing boots when they run off the grass? I would have thought AstroTurf adjoining the pitch was a serious slip/injury hazard?

Anorak answer. I think all the pitches in Brazil have this. As far as I am aware no one has been injured as a result, just by some dodgy refereeing...

Gary Lewin's injury was caused by the groundsmen watering the astroturf
Electronic sponsorship hoardings are in my opinion a distraction, an annoyance, and a irrelevance if you want to see flashing advertising boards may I suggest nipping up to Piccadilly Circus. We aren't in the premier league, wont have large advertisers banging on our door, and I cant imagine the local butchers wanting to stump up for flashing adverts.
They need to squeeze more seats into the dugouts under new regulations, so doubt if they are considering fitting larger seats.

I just see electronic sponsor boards as another way of keeping up with the times. Fair enough the local butchers won't want to stump up for an electronic sponsor advert but then other companies such as bet365 who specialise with in-play match betting may become interested as they would be able to provide 'live' odds to a potential in-play market while the game is going on. No we aren't in the Premier League but we still have the big screen, maybe we should take this down too?
The scoreboard was from the premiership days, the capital outlay had already been spent, and we would probably not buy one now if it wasn't already there.
Without the tv and advertising money obtained in the premier how would you justify the outlay of cash on a perimeter advertising system when we would not receive the revenues available to fund it. I am much happier for any available funds to be spent on the team, or to improve the conditions of the fans by ground improvements.
I would only be happy with tv advertising boards when they were self financing or contributing to the financial well being of the club, and even then I would still find them distracting. Without the revenue streams available from televised premiership games I doubt any teams would have them.
The premierships clubs did not install them to keep up with the times, but mainly because they allowed more advertisers to be seen at premiership tv games and boost revenues, not because they allowed pretty hi tech pics.
Yes the big screen was replaced shortly after TJ & MS took over, it was back in use in League One after having been turned off for a while.
I wouldn't mind betting RD would pay for electronic advertising in the same way he's replaced the faded red seats with brand new seats, and given a lick of yellow paint to the East Stand staircases. I'm sure the local butcher could keep his fixed sign up as there would still be room for his sign in front of the actual stands while electronic boards would surround the perimeter of the pitch, I wouldn't be surprised to see this happen especially if it brings in additional sponsorship.

It also shows intent in terms of moving the club forward and keeping up with the premier league clubs in terms of infrastructure however basic it is!

"What are the odds on Simon Church getting the next goal? " Will there be enough space on the boards for all the zeros though?
The question remains would we get a big enough income from advertising revenues in the Championship, to cover the costs, and provide a profit, on the expense of installing electronic boards. I still suggest this is unlikely, and until we are turning away hoards of advertisers offering us fistfuls of wonga, we would be better off concentrating resources on more important issues, such as the squad.
I heard a rumour that the staff have been threatened with disciplinary action if they take pictures of the pitch and post them on social media, a friend of mine was at the Valley being shown around and asked if they could take a picture and was told no !

That is what I said to them but a certain MBE at the Valley informed my friend as they walked out the tunnel that they were not aloud to Bloody stupid if you ask me

It's coming along nicely.
The ground is starting to look the best it's ever been. Electronic sponsor boards and upgraded dugout seats would really complete the look.
