Nego, Lennon, Ansah, Church have all been very poor , The rest have shown some promise, 'especially Moussa and Buyens

If Peeters and Duchatelet see it the same way then time to get that chequebook out again. I don't see Ansah or Church in our best 18 players if we are taking this season seriously. Will be good to see Vetokele tomorrow - might get down to Welling so I can see for myself.
I won't rush to judge Nego - he's either rated as a reserve right back or he's better off at another network club.
That Liege keeper looked handy - I wonder if he's available? :)

Even peeters doesn't think we are ready. Talk of 4 transfers says as much.

The one game I saw Nego play away at Wigan, he played well. I think there is a good player there.

    agreed from the Lancashire Chapter

45 minutes into our pre season and i'm despairing already at some of our so called fans. How on earth can you make judgment on players on what you saw there? even from respected people who should know better.

Who seriously makes assessments with a 1/2 game after a few days training like this? What's the point? Meaningless.

Just what I was about to post. Didn't watch, don't even know the score, but we have been back training for a few days, a few new players, a 45 minute game. You can't seriously read anything into this.

A professional footballer does not lose their profession after a holiday and a few cakes, you can't take much from the game but you can take a little. The biggest reason for mistakes would have been lack of experience with each other and nerves, even Popey looked full of nerves.

Lennon was skipped past for lieges first goal not Nego! Morro was indeed done by the bonce on the 3G! We will i think need a first team keeper even though Pope did ok although 2nd goal was soft! I thought Munns played well Buyens started well as did Moussa! Ansah will improve but a serious need for Churchy to hold the ball up, Cywka looked ok worth signing as backup

We have played 45 minutes... How are we judging players by 45 minutes?

Some fans need to just have a think about where we are at.

Hard to say a lot based on that. I thought ansah showed a couple of nice touches. I liked buyens and moussa. Nego looked good going forward but was beaten too easily for the first goal.

I don't know if we are 'judging' players as such, more each of us responding to what we have seen at this very early stage. If the game is promoted to us fans as happening, with supposed packages to go there, and to tune into youtube, then Charlton Athletic are not saying it is a behind closed doors thing, and it is open to be commented on.
It could be a different story tomorrow against lesser opposition.

Can I just point out, that "everyone's" arguing, but "everyone" has said that you "can't make judgements on 45 minutes of the first pre-season friendly"!

Are we arguing about the kinds of judgements we're not making, or the tone with which we're not making them?

Watched the first 15 mins then returned to the world of proper football.

Finchy made the point that Standard are two weeks ahead of us in pre season and have already played a full 90 minute friendly.

Stupid, pointless "tournament", hope no one gets injured.

of the 11 who started I would guess that only 3 of those will start at Brentford, that is Morro, Moussa & Buyens. That's not to say that the others won't work their way into the starting eleven nor that they were poor. As others have said we should't make judgements on 45mins on plastic but we are fans and we do.

He was skinned twenty seven times in 45mins!

and Morrison didn't make a mistake for the second goal then I suppose. I must remember to get a pair of those minion glasses they wear in Despicable Me.
C'mon Golfie, that's a strange comment even by your standards! Who mentioned Morrison?

Anyway. The team as a whole were pretty rubbish. But can't read much into for the obvious reasons.

Anyone looking to judge how we'll do in the league this season based on that 45 minutes is being unfair. However, you have to look at the trajectory we're on. Some of us will say everything's going according to an infallible master plan. I'm sceptical and doubt we'll be competitive, but certainly not just because of that 45 minutes. I don't think we have enough right now for the Championship, but as the saying goes, "I hope I'm proved wrong."
But a 3G pitch is NOT a level playing field, Lookie

Looked pretty level to me...not a bump or divot anywhere to be seen!! ;)

Simon church continuing his brilliant form from last season

surely bp will get the church truth after this tournee? then, on loan to orient/gillingham/swindon...and quietly released after this season...
Try supporting him this season instead of slagging him off all the time then you might see a better player.
Truth hurts .... He's simply useless.

I cannot understand some peoples comments on here!
I'm sorry but he really, simply, definitely, is not useless! I'm not he's greatest fan but come on man the man is a Welsh International footballer, his scoring record is not great I grant you but surely you can't criticise his work rate and help for his team.
I really think if everyone got behind him and gave him a bit of support we might see an improved player. What good does constantly slagging off our own players???
I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and it is a public forum but I do find it a bit tiring and very counter productive........

For what it's worth this is "only" my opinion!!

Hate the way the comms team refer to him as 'Nicky Pope'

You get the feeling Church could get man of the match every week and he will still be slagged off. Certain people have their talons in him and there is nothing that can change that until he's hounded out.
Just ask Kevin Lisbie , David Mooney and Simon Francis ( to name just a few ) who all went on to do well at clubs who's fans got behind them.

Don't think people are making judgments on the players so much as describing how they played on the day. I'm ashamed to say I just forgot about the match so I'm grateful for all the varied opinions on the players today. Cheers everyone

I have nothing against Simon Church and I hope he does well for us, and that he does prove me wrong.

But come on!!! He is awful.. He's had enough chances last season. Also hence why we have signed and been linked to many forwards.

Blimey how many days are we back from the break and some are expecting the players to be super fit. Nego sounds like a player who we maybe sending out on loan for a season to a lower level club, playing like a player we're sending out on loan for a season to a lower level club. Munn making a rare senior appearance and Ansah starting with us for the first time.

If we have the same gripes, albeit with different players in just over s months time thats when we can moan.

I remember a comment about a month ago along the lines of, 'We need the football to start again so we can stop all this bickering.'
    How's that going?

I don't think you can judge anything on a 45 minute kick about on a 3G pitch.

When they get back from the Spain trip I'll take a bit more notice.

    Isn't our new pitch 3G?

I understand Super Kev can only train a couple of times a week for O's, a division below us. Still put money on him to outscore Spongefoot at any level. At least he'd give a defender a hard time. Church is like a cartoon where he runs around, supposedly eluding the guard dog/cat until the crucial moment when he gets swatted against the wall. My most hated player since clean shorts. Stealing a living.
