  • Cort was injured otherwise he would have at least been on the bench.

TBH with Paddy McCarthy is the dream Partnership
  • Am I the only one on here confusing TBH with TBH IYKWIM ?

Oh, and SL with SL ?????

    IDK
  • Its an unpalatable signing to me because its so blatantly dumped upon us....well thats life.

casting that aside, can a fit TBH do a job? yeh a dammn good one probably.

If he plays with interest and commitment, then he will walk it - If he is still fit.

We need experience at CB and it seems we are the necessary destination for an RD deal that, otherwise, does make sense

    Wtf?

Well, earlier when someone posted that TBH was already at SL, I asked Mr F if he'd seen him this morning & he replied " TBH , I'm not sure"

    :-)

Probably, but the point I was trying to make was that you can be surplus to requirements without necessarily being poor in either quality or character. TBH's lack of game time recently is much less of an issue now, when he has plenty of time to train with the squad, than if he were to be shoved in as a last minute loanee in January, for example.
  • If a player's attitude is right and he's not completely past his 'sell by' date, there's no reason why he can't be an effective part of the team.

Let's hope TBH wants to play.

  • After all this, Ben Haim will sign for Millwall now...

We are not a dumping ground for useless Liege players!! Buyens almost made the Belgium World Cup Squad

Yep, Belgiums golden generation had a player on the brink of joining them in Brazil going on loan to low championship club Charlton
  • People bang on about his experience and played for Chelsea as man city. But the last few seasons in prem he was poor.

Relegated 4 consecutive times, being paid a shed load and can't say he helped these teams causes

  • Perhaps serial relegationista Herman Hreiddarason can join us too.

Our one time hero Hermann Hreidarsson can top that with a record five relegations from the Premier League so by the same token, that makes him crap........hmmm just saying like :-0
  • Watched him play for Israel vs Portugal in WC qualifiers home and away. Played central of a three at home and came on at right back away. If I remember rightly, looked solid but not much pace.
Given our current state would take him as a free as long as he's on championship defender wages. His experience would be valuable addition.
  • Wasn't he definitely joining us in January too?!

  • Seth, RD's plan might be to make a profit on players but that will only happen with younger players, younger players will need experienced pros around them as well. This is where Ben Haim and Jackson fit in and even Morrison, Solly and Wilson (in terms of games played) to some extent.
  • TBH is solid defender but slow. In all honesty i think i would have rather kept Wood. But he has a lot of experience at a high level, should do a solid enough job in Championship and 32 is not past it. Blimey we brought in Dailly who was older and he worked out well.

Personally would have prefered a younger pacier player alongside Morrison as i thought that was the only thing missing from our defence last year, but they are costly. Lennon, Osborne and Gomez need more time. Lennon and/or Osborne could do with going out on loan for 3 months to get some game time.
  • 4 0f you then you and 3 likes prat......
    He's a big man behind he's keyboard ain't he !

We need 3 senior centre backs, and then the youngsters as back up. TBH would be 3rd choice if he arrived I would guess. Still time to get the pacier player in alongside Morro.

Indeed there is and hope you are right.

    And Nathan Blake
  • And Nathan Blake
And Darren Purse and maybe Les Berry?
  • anyone know a Pompey fan whose opinion of Ben Haim they can ask?

As someone who works in Portsmouth, my colleagues general opinion is...

    1) Mercenary
    2) Good Player
    3) Would do a job at Championship level.
    4) Reads the game well
  • Would need a quick centre half alongside him, but would do a job at this level.

Yes it is indeed my opinion which you see as negative, indeed you see as 'utter BS'. I have described what I think is evidence and in your (positive?) opinion you think I am wrong.

So there we have it. We each have an opinion, and I am guessing here, but possibly you think he was a vital part of the Standard de Liege set up, and we are indeed fortunate to have him.

It seems as if my posts today have touched some nerves.
Is it because if there is some credence that Charlton Athletic are a reserve set up then some of you wouldn't like it?
The concept of reserve set ups...'B' teams, is all over everywhere at the moment, so it does not take many leaps to imagine that Charlton Athletic could become a glorified 'B' team.
I repeat that I hope I am wrong, but if I am mainly right, we would become a bit of a laughing stock like Watford to the wider footballing world.
It is negative because you have no proof, it is bullshit, well because you made it up. You're guessing and scaremongering. Read back from your opening post, its all quoted here.
    Its just poison.
