I can't say too much! A lot has been said by others on here who know the full circumstances about your hero.Curb_It said:
He left without dignity?? Says who... Mouth almighty ? and so now Yann is the bad guy?Greenie said:Non - there's a way to leave a club, with dignity or without, Kermit chose the latter!
Wow.
But think of a petulant child and you'll be about right!
It would appear Yann is about Yann!

He's not my hero. I just feel it's a bit sad that people are digging him out when he's done what most of us would, ie took the best deal for him and his family.
No need for all the bitching and bad mouthing of a popular player.6 -
Well i think the council should give Yann the key to woolwich.
Anyway we now have peter pickle whatever his name is.0 -

Good post.Mckforester said:He has left the club; that was his choice. But for me is doesn't detract from the pleasure I had in seeing him play while he was with us. He, like any returning playe who made their mark at The Valley deserves a good round of applause (but not when he scores against us with a trademark free kick!)

Brilliant post!nth london addick said:I thought it was BWP who scored the majority of the goals that won us the league and within half a season some of the same people going all scouse and mourning yann were calling him a lazy cnt

Don't have a problem with him leaving for more money just the way he allegedly went about it.Curb_It said:He's not my hero. I just feel it's a bit sad that people are digging him out when he's done what most of us would, ie took the best deal for him and his family.

Like I said with dignity and some honour!0 -
Only if he has an automatic contract extension coming upMendonca In Asdas said:Maybe im in cuckoo lans , but hear me out, Yanns head won't be right when B'mouth come to town , he knows what the Charlton fans think of him, and will develop a mystery injury, thus missing the match, it's only one game after all Yann.

Players come and go I guess, we need to get over this one pretty quickly, rather than lingering on it and dragging us down, he's. gone , lets just get on with it , and thank him for some good memories, if he comes back to play against us, we need to get behind Resa and Polish Pete ( liked his interview on CAFC player).1

I remember people getting upset when semedo moved on! We have lost a good player and replaced him with two younger players with different skills and attributes. Yann has gone so it's time to grow up and move on.
He played 90 games s spread across the 2nd and 3rd tiers and from what I've heard (not saying it's true) showed no loyalty when offered a new contract so why is everyone acting like their closest friend has died0 -

Isn't loyalty to your family more important than loyalty to an employer? If an employer can't or won't offer you something as good as or better than a rival, most people would take a new job if it gave their family a better life.
Yann was my favourite player and I will miss him a lot, but understand why he had to put his family's future first.2 -
I very much doubt anyone on this forum was actually present or privy to conversations between Yann and the management ahead of the Huddersfield match.
No one has any first hand information.
What we do know is that whenever he did play Yann was a credit to the badge. Employees at the club have had only praise for him since his departure. Powell wanted him to stay. Find it hard to believe there would be such good words reserved for him had he truly refused to play in the manner you're suggesting.
I don't think his Charlton legacy deserves to be tarnished.

I just don't believe in obsessing about players when they choose to leave Charlton for another club - as Yann quite clearly did - once they go then I have no interest in them at all.paulsturgess said:
So on that basis I assume Clive Mendonca and Mark Kinsella would also hold no greater place in your heart than Tresor Kandol. Interesting.Ormiston Addick said:
Not really, I loved him when he played for us but he has moved on.paulsturgess said:

So should we.
Mendonca did not do what Yann did anyway, he retired through injury and as for Kinsella, he had lost his place in the side and Curbs let him go to Villa for one last pay day before his knees buckled, which they did within a year.
Yann had a choice, stay here or go to Bournemouth, he chose the latter and that is his choice and to me he is now just another opposition player.
He is a good player but in all honesty people are pumping the bloke up to crazy levels simply because of the fast flowing sewer of untreated excrement that has flowed through The Valley in recent years.
Once you've suffered disinterested wankers like Marcus Bent, JFH and Jerome Thomas and mediocrities like McLeod, Iwelumo, Varney, Gray, Benson and Abbott then a warrior like Yann is bound to appear Cantona-esque.
The truth is though that if he were really that good he'd be going somewhere a lot bigger than Dean Court.7 -
woke up and imagined how good it would be to have him and reza up top
buuuut... time for me to move on methinks1 -
I like how it is fully conceivable Yann is a charlton fan now. Considering as a Frenchman he probably didn't have an English team and loved it so much here. Love the idea of a 60 year old Yann Kermorgant making a trip to the Valley to watch us in the conference! ;-)0
-
We all know what's going to happen. The whole of the valley, home fans, away fans, Eddie Howe, Avram Grant and Roland Duchatalet all singing we all dream of a team full of kermorgants in unison.0

Chris Powell has hailed Yann Kermorgant as one of the best players he has coached and managed. Reaction to key departures in paper.2 -
I wonder what the reaction will be if Morrison crocks him?0

He said the same things that Beckham said after he left a clubDOC64 said:
Please explain!!Greenie said:Non - there's a way to leave a club, with dignity or without, Kermit chose the latter!
His interview was very dignified. He clearly stated that following the takeover it became clear to him that he was not part of the clubs plans going forward. He made the usual comments about loving the fans who had been very good to him and said that he had become a Charlton supporter.
What more did you want him to say or do?
Good to hear him say he has become a supporter, no way he will play against us then.
Look forward to seeing him down the Valley every week after his retirement.

However, he didn't say he was a Charlton supporter - I know this because that's what I thought he said at first too, so I rewound it and listened again and he says "and the Charlton fans" - his accent makes it sound like he says "I'm a Charlton fan".
Having said all that, when he retires, I would be surprised if we didn't become his english team to look out for.0 -
We should do what we always do and have a 90 minutes silence.9

He's been my assistant on football manager for 6 years... Sacked him last night8
-
I'd rather concentrate on cheering our own players instead of the opposition players and I think everyone else should do the same.
When his name gets read out and when he gets subbed off we should clap but not half way through the first half.
I agree with a previous post - he's an ex Charlton striker. When he returns, it won't mean anything to me in the same way that when Luke Varney, Iwelumo etc return, it means nothing.1 -
Yann who ?
Not bothered. He plays on the south coast these days.
Get over it.
Let's get behind Polish Pete and Ronnie irani0 -
Please...No. He plays for Bournemouth now. Give him a clap when the teams are announced by all means but a standing ovation in the 18th minute ... Do me a favour1
-
Once again on the bench
Although his pay packet is higher I wonder if he regrets leaving first team football behind just to get a sore bum on Bournemouth's Bench0
