Yann

Round of applause as he appears and departs he knows where his heart is that's enough. We cannot allow him to be bigger than the club no matter how popular he was.
Sam Bartram was dropped and Jimmy seed sacked football moves on its hard but sad.0 -
In the past now, he was good but not as good as some believe.0
-
I would not boo Yann - but nor would I cheer him when he comes back with Bournemouth.
RD made his choice and Yann made his choice and that's about it.
I would no more be bothered about Yann than I am about Chris Iwelumo, Luke Varney or Tresor Kandol.
The only players I care about are those in the employment of Charlton Athletic Football Club which is why I am drinking Polish Vodka and am about to order that movie where Ben Affleck co-ordinates the escape of the American hostages from the US embassy in Tehran.5 -
He'll get a huge cheer from me when his name gets called out and I'll applaud him if he gets subbed (Or if he comes on)
I might clap him if he scores as well (i.e. how Cardiff did with Aaron Ramsey earlier this season)1 -
I wouldn't be surprised if Yann makes many more appearances at the the Valley as a supporter. As a player I think we were fortunate to have seen him in his prime. As he ages and injuries take their toll, his aerial ability (his major attribute) is likely to diminish fairly quickly, as I think it already has this season. As a Championship striker I would be surprised if he has two more seasons left in him. He may be able to extend his career by dropping back behind the strikers or even as a centre half as Arthur Horsfield did. How sad that we didn't discover him 3 or 4 years earlier.2
-
He'll probably be back as manager sometime in the future, starting a new form of tunnel jump that involves butting a couple of opposition players and getting his own 100% support banner on here.5
-
Can we jump and down and cheer when he bangs in a free kick against us.2
-
He'll be injured and wont play.0

I'm planning to light the largest candle possible in Western civilisation, if Health and Safety will let me.4

Not really, I loved him when he played for us but he has moved on.paulsturgess said:

I heard this was gonna happen last Tuesday but didn't wanna say incase it jeapodised anythingBIG_ROB said:Can't he just be booed and pelted with missiles every time he's on the ball?
Seriously though, arguably our best player fucks off and the first thing we start doing is talking about his round of applause when he returns. Tell you what I'm gonna do, make AFC Bournemouth me 2nd team. Hope the club do scarves with half Charlton and half Bournemouth written on it too! Also, let's start a petition to get the Jimmy Seed stand renamed the Kermorgant Kop and stick his full sized bronze between CP's bronze and the Sam B statue in the car park. In fact, close the car park and make it to into the CAFCTerracottaBronze Army and when the car parks full up, knock the ground down and put more there, full of people who have played or worked for the club and left. Be amazing!

He deserves a good reception despite being an opposition player.0

I remember playing Derby at The Valley after we signed Chris Powell and they were all singing is name.2

I know it's not the best nor most original idea in the world, but I was thinking wouldn't it be a good token if we gave Yann a standing ovation in the 18th minute when he returns? Just an idea feel free to share opinions
Ah, the good ideas club has convened I see.
Young CF Jnr, and all those who support something similar, did you go to Paddys testimonial at the Valley and show your support and appreciation of a REAL Charlton legend?
1 -
No, bad idea. he was a very good player for us but not a legend and the way he left was slightly disappointing for me. I'll give him a decent clap when teams are announced etc but after that he is just another opposition player.
Now if it were Darren Bent, that would be different ...0 -
Thanks for the comments…I realise that the way he left wasn't of best taste to all of us but I think of him as a hero, as one of quite a few relatively young fans he's probably the first person to be thought of in the 'legend' bracket of their time due to the dire seasons we had before the last 2 and a half, my first solid memories were the 2004/05 season and after that it appeared to be all doom and gloom, but each to their own, I just want the three points and him to realise what a great club he's turned his back on3
-
So on that basis I assume Clive Mendonca and Mark Kinsella would also hold no greater place in your heart than Tresor Kandol. Interesting.Ormiston Addick said:

Turn it in.
I loved him when he was here, maybe one day the full truth will come out about what really happened, but he hasn't died FFS.1 -

Reidy moved on because they offered him a heap more cash---he gets a good reeption when he comes back to stuff us-----------Yann is the same. Hope he gets a good reception (see no reason he wouldnt) and i guess he will score against us.0
-
Won't boo him, give him a clap when the name is announced but other than that, on the pitch he'll be just another opposition player. By then we'll have two brand new heroic strikers and he will be but a memory of days gone by...0

Couldn't put it better myself. I'm sure you can all find your security blankets somewhere.stonewallpenalty said:He will get a good reception, FACT. Clapping after 18 mins is the most stupid thing i have heard during this stupid week.

Maybe im in cuckoo lans , but hear me out, Yanns head won't be right when B'mouth come to town , he knows what the Charlton fans think of him, and will develop a mystery injury, thus missing the match, it's only one game after all Yann.1

The man led us to a league title. That's more than some of the other 'legends' mentioned on here have done. I don't care what anyone else is doing I'll be applauding him. The club messed him about, not the other way around.4

Whenever the Bournemouth game is rescheduled i look forward to welcoming Yann back0
-
I thought it was BWP who scored the majority of the goals that won us the league and within half a season some of the same people going all scouse and mourning yann were calling him a lazy cnt0
-
He has left the club; that was his choice. But for me is doesn't detract from the pleasure I had in seeing him play while he was with us. He, like any returning playe who made their mark at The Valley deserves a good round of applause (but not when he scores against us with a trademark free kick!)0
-
JJ led us to the League One title Yann was the goal getting hero that played a major part in it. BWP scored the goal to get us promoted and if you recall in the week s leading up to Carlisle on here we weren't good enough with Hudds, the Blades & Sheff Weds all likely to pip us as we blew it.
It's all very raw as the majority of us were massive Yann fans but in a few weeks it will be interesting to revisit some old threads in the last few years when we were not sscoring and see what people were saying about him then0
