What a mess.

Yep, the SFA/SPL won't give up the income they derive from Rangers without a fight. It's a ridiculous situation, Rangers fans, Scottish football fans and roughly 40 out of 42 clubs have all said Rangers should start again in Division 3 - if a few men in suits at the SFA and SPL can override that overwhelming statement of desire then it's an absolute disgrace.

If Rangers do start in D3 apaarently they'll take Stranraer's place and their fixtures will be http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/stranraer/fixtures - incredible !

At least Rangers will finally get to play a league game in England!

You wouldn't get much value, the fourth tier of Scottish football is nowhere near the standard of League 2 in England, almost all of the clubs are semi pro. Out of 36 games I'd be surprised if Rangers won less than say 30/31, certainly can't imagine them losing. Just having the fitness levels of a professional should be more than enough, and that's before you consider how much more talented the players will still be able to attract are.

Clyde didn't even want them in Div 3! Personally I am glad they are in div 3, if they put them into an SPL 2 then there is no point in having relegation and promotion, changing the entirety of a countries league structure simply to accommodate a single club should only be reserved for farcical and corrupt places, like Argentina for example

How much money will the Div 2 & 3 clubs actually make out of this? Can't see that their ground capacities can be that big and will they not get anything from the gate receipts at Ibrox anyway?

They have a few guys left over from last season, the main ones being Neil Alexander (probably the 3rd best 'keeper in Scotland) Dorin Goian (Romania's first choice centre back) and Lee McCulloch (who's offered to play for free) in addition to some promising youngsters. Financially they should actually be better off as they'll still have huge gate receipts from a supporter base that will continue to show up. I'd imagine they'll have the second highest attendances in Scotland with a relatively tiny wage bill and no debt. Plus there may be income from the sale of players depending on how that mess plays out.

For me the important thing is that the excess income is safeguarded to be re-invested when the club return to the SPL so they can be competitive again but I'm not so confident about that.

There won't be a SPL2, there just isn't the support for it from the SFL clubs.

Doncaster should resign immediately, followed by Regan. Even if they don't they will both lose their jobs.

Re Queen's Park my understanding is that they have the right to play at both Hampden and little Hampden (next door). They play league fixtures at little Hampden, but big cup fixtures at Hampden. A league tie against Rangers will be at Hampden itself.

I went to a Glasgow cup game that drew a smaller crowd than their normal. Lots of ball boys running up the terraces to collect wayward strikes
