Newco wont last the season. Has Green really got the money? How can thy pay for the running costs of Ibrox and Murray Park, tupe contracts, pretty much a new squad to compete.
How can the SFA justify a transfer ban ? Rangers are a new team so they have to start again at the bottom, which they have uncondittionaly agreed to do, yet the SFA want to impose sanctions based on the conduct of the old company. So which is it ?
How can East Stirling only have a capacity of 321? Surely even a pub team playing in a local park could accomodate 100 people on each side of the pitch.
The bottom of scottish football is only 3 leagues from the top ...........
Not really , the bottom of the Scottish football league is only three divisions from the SPL, outside of that there's a few league systems (juniors/highland) but these teams are very restricted in there chance to get into the football league since it depends on election rather than promotion.
Anyway, three divisions is quite a long way - its as far as Gillingham are from the premier league !

Rangers aren't being treated like a new team and aren't applying to get into D3 like a juniors side would have to so it's a bit different. That said, I think there's a bit of an appearances thing going on: you can't have a club that has left the taxpayers and many mother businesses and clubs out of pocket suddenly spanking cash around. There's no need anyway, enough good out of contract players that would jump at the chance and would be good enough to pish their way through div 3

However to date, clubs have been allowed to come out of administration and creditors be damned, Palace are a prime example of this.

Agree that the penalties for administration should be heavier, but surely creditors have the choice to vote for a restructuring package (maybe not much of a choice), but it is still a different thing.
New chapter in Scottish football starts this weekend, with the first live competitive football of the British season on Sky channel 168 at 3pm today as Rangers travel to Brechin City.
I really fear what state Scottish football will be in come the season end.
At the top i agree SE9 but the money that this very small clubs will get by having agmes against the Gers could keep em going etc so at the bottom it will help.
It seems to me that the problems of Scottish football are down to one thing and one thing only, that attendances are skewed so ridiculously that the Old Firm have just 10% less spectators than the other forty clubs combined. When you then consider that the average attendances for the other 10 Premier League clubs are artificially high because of matches agains the old firm it means that the income of two teams is equal to the whole of the rest of the league (not counting any disparity in advertising, merchandising and tv revenues). Here's the attendance stats for the season before last.
This coming season Third Division clubs are likely to do rather better than normal because of Rangers' demise, whilst the Premier League teams are likely to struggle badly. What the outcome will be is anyone's guess, but until Scottish football fans end their ridiculous obsession with the big two and start following their local teams this very sorry state will continue. I'd love to think that the Rangers situation would be a massive wake up call to football fans across Scotland, but I'm pretty confident that it won't be.
You're right Stig about the impact on the third division, but I fear that there will be significant lost revenue in total as the travelling Rangers numbers are going to be severely restricted by attendance capacities.
If they still split the gate receipts in Scotland (I can't remember) then there will be at least one massive payday for all the clubs, but if not they be limited by the spare capacity they have in their stadia.
The impact on the SPL, however, will be massive. I hope it does change their outlook, but, like you, I'm not convinced it will do.

So happy that the Dumbarton FC board (and 24 others) grew some and refused to be blackmailed and bribed.
David Millar won the Tour de France stage today.
Travel and accommodation sorted for Hull game in August.
Carlsberg don't make Friday the 13ths...

Busted :-)
WTF?? Lifting the embargo until the transfer window shuts and then imposing it again!!! Horses bolting & closing gates spring to mind. Only the SFA!
