Nobody anywhere near our first team should be involved next week for me. We know we now following that have potentially a 3 game tournament to define the season.4

Their first goal, all our players in our box, no one picking up the scorer on the edge. Uphill battle from then on.0

If we go up this season we will need at least 5 to 6 new senior players for the championship.6

On another thread a few days ago I said I wouldn't mind Ahadme off the bench, and I'm sticking to that opinion after today3

It's amazing how quickly fan confidence can turn. Monday evening after a 4-0 battering of a top team we were planning our run to the Champions League final on here and then an away loss against the second best team in the division and there's stacks of people pulling out receipts on our recruitment, posters who haven't appeared on a post-match thread in months appearing to criticise and plenty of hand-wringing about how we'll lose in the Playoffs based on this performance. The internet age of football supporting is wild. The important thing now is that we throw the game against Burton. We've proven we just can't win 4 in a row and beating Burton would set us up horribly for Wembley7

Think I’m going to have a break from here until the first leg - two hours since the final whistle and I’ve had enough of the Golfie whining already8

Think we are all frustrated that we didn't turn up today but let's hope we can do it the hard way now.5 -

Anderson dreadful, TC anonymous and the subs showed just how little depth we've got. Lloyd Jones looked clearly injured so if he's out with Berry and Small then I don't have much faith in us getting through the playoffs.
Jones fit for play offs is looking pretty vital but I'm still confident we can do it

The fact that the 2nd half season run had been carried up front by mainly Godden alone is remarkable. Leaburn had a couple of good games once fit but no other striker had been worth their salt.
The issue isnt that we sold Alfie.....the issue is that we didnt replace him fully enough & also went into the season relying on 2 unfit/injured strikers (Aneke & Leaburn).
We are now going into the play offs with Mbick & Kanu as back up strikers. Leaburn is our for the season & Aneke will miss the first leg.
Perhaps Nathan will fnow look fo the key to the closet & let Ahadme out.1 -
Shame we couldn't retain the same level of fight and spite as we have over the last few matches. Never expected 2nd but we really need to be on it / on a roll for the playoffs.3

Palace is one thing. Millwall making the Prem is another matter entirely. That one sneaked under the radar today. Like someone said if Carlsberg did Saturdays, they wouldnt look like this.11

£2m would have got you Sam Smith in January & most likely 2nd tonight.
But we decided we could turn to Mbick & Kanu. Nothing against the 2 young lads but you could see today it was men against boys out there.
I happen to agree with @ForeverAddickted that it's easy to throw other people's money around, and January is rarely the time to splash money unless you already have the squad structure very much in place, which Wrexham did. We were very mucha work-in-progress.
But you need to make sure you have got your facts together before dissing others, even the hapless Golfie.4 -
Of course it is disappointing, but better to know now than next Saturday when the disappointment might have been harder to swallow.
It is now all about preparing for the play offs, and accepting we might play away in the second leg of them.
I think we should realise how good and tough we can be, and face those games in a positive fashion.
We have Aneke available for the second leg, so there is that.2 -

I am fully aware of the fitness thing and agree entirely, but the team need to get today out of their system, and the best way is a good performance against Burton, but yes some will need resting i agree.

Next week will prove if there is a God or not. Final game of the season & they need at least a point away to Burnley. If they beat them & get into the play offs I'm selling my soul to the devil.3 -

I feeling victimised again.
Why not go the whole hog & PM me & call me a c***. Thats what some do.3 -
I don't get the Wrexham bashing by some fans. If the shoe was on the other foot, would we be complaining? Certainly fans from other clubs would! We were singing ' Where were you when you were shit' , and I was joining in, but look at our history, when crowds at The Valley were rock bottom, and we tried various initiatives to entice fans back, but the main driver is success. We've seen home crowds rise significantly this season on our incredible run from December, there's nothing like success that brings people into a ground.
Is the the complaint that they spent money in the January transfer window to bring in players, especially Smith, who I thought was outstanding today, or is it envy that they are in a position to do this, and we are not?
The atmosphere in the ground was amazing, both sets of fans were singing their hearts out, well for the first 20 mins! I must give credit to the Wrexham fans who threw the clowns chant back in our face. You probably can't out sing a Welsh side, what with their history of Choirs, but I particularly enjoyed Y Ama O Hed, an unofficial Welsh football anthem, the chorus translates as ' in spite of everyone and everything, we are still here' a sentiment that many Charlton fans would resonate with. They then did a version of Men of Harlech, of Zulu fame, but changed the words to turn it into a promotion song.
I was in a pub, the Railway Inn, only 15 mins from the ground, and it was rammed with local Welsh people, just enjoying the ride, and yes, there are those that latch onto success, but our fans do the same.
The whole Hollywood stuff does grate with me, but that might be envy or just distgust at the whole razzamataz of the situation, but again I say, what if the situation was reversed.
So, in summing up, I don't begrudge Wrexhams promotion, on the day they were the better team, our squad at the moment, with the injuries and suspensions is thin, at best, but it is what it is, and we need that final push over the line in the playoffs.
So put this result in the bin, congratulate Wrexham, and push forward for playoff victory!!24 -
I'm sure it's been said a million times already, but that sky coverage was dreadful. You'd think Wrexham fans will eventually become fed up of it too. Instead of seeing the incredible celebrations in the crowd, the camera just pans to the Hollywood boys. The media "circus" around them is far more irritating than the club itself.23
