No CEO, no Head of Commercial, no Club secretary & no Head of recruitment, good to see things seem pretty stable at the club.
This just proves to me that all most people care about is results on the pitch.
If we were 16th and without a CEO, head of commercial, club secretary or head of recruitment there would be about 50 pages of people having a meltdown. As it is, hardly anyone seems to be bothered.
I have read that the other way. I think we do care what is going on behind the scenes.
We all care yes, but i feel the reaction to all these vacancies would be far more dramatic if we were not sat in 4th. People let a lot slide if the team is doing well.

Couldn’t agree more - it’s the only real barometer of things - an out of date poster in a club shop or not having a fans forum to talk Bollox every couple of weeks is pretty low down on most fans concerns

I think it’s also the case that most people who have a view are happy with the departure of Methven and Scott. I doubt if that is rooted in results either way.
Presumably Methven and perhaps this head of commercial were the conduit to Duchatelet. With them gone any progress (if at all- probably not) goes back to the start I presume. I wonder how big a concern that matter was in terms of the management clear out.
Apart from willy waving, point scoring and trying to be ITK on here, can anyone explain to me how it matters one iota if CM has sold his shares yet or not? I personally couldn’t give a flying **** unless it’s detrimental to the club either way.
Well it would mean that the other owners now own more of us which is an extra commitment from them. It would also totally remove CM from any decision making at all
and would help airman with his 'narrative'
I don’t know about any narrative but the club’s version and Charlie’s version can’t both be true, can they?
Given it’s a requirement of FL rules, I don’t think the club would delete him accidentally and then lie about it.
I don't know but the truth is that we needed somebody to take over from sandgaard and he organised something that now sees us in a better position than when he left. He probably did bullshit about the finances / revenues possible and was asked to step in as CEO to justify them. He's now off in what seems a mutual agreement. Scott has also gone and i'm sure Rodwell will be off pretty soon so we are left with a good manager, a good team and a seemingly solid source of funding. His involvement at the club seems to have worked out ok in the end.
His departure gets one sentence in the programme.
How many did yours get?
Actually it was reported in at least one national newspaper.
For comparison purposes, though, Charlton gave much more coverage in yesterday’s programme to the departure of a Callum King from the commercial team.
That'll be no sentences in the programme for you then?
(Which would be poor form, just to be clear)
The club instructed staff to change stuff I’d written for the programme to say it was written by someone else, which to be fair staff were very unwilling to do and contacted me before they did so. I agreed because it would only have made trouble for them.
As is well known, I pursued the club for unfair dismissal, during which period Slater tried to threaten and bully me, as he did others. In the event, all claims were paid as the club did not want any of the evidence heard in public and it would not have won.
The bit you seem to be missing is that there was self evidently at that point a bad relationship between myself and the people running the club, which is why they didn’t reference my departure. That’s rather my point about publishing a one sentence item on a departing chief exec.
It’s not an original observation. It was made, at least in private, by media representatives at the game yesterday, which is how it came to my attention.
Bizarre how some nobodies on here always try & have a pop at Airman, if they had done a tenth of what Airman has over the years for the club perhaps they would have a reason to talk their bollocks & their snidy comments about him losing his job at the club. And no I don't even know Rick other than buying my copy of VOTV from him.
The interesting thing about our three primary owners is there is a gap in wealth between them. Friedman has the wealth to subsidize losses in the championship. Brener is wealthy enough to have some stake but probably not a significant stake. Also if you listen to Houston Dynamo fans, he was a very involved owner until he was ready to sell at which point he pretty much abandoned the club financially. Rosefeld may be rich by normal standards but not by football club owner standards. We don’t know their relative ownership percentages but it wouldn’t surprise me if at some point that Brener and Rosenfeld are bought out by another investor.
Are you sure ? We were told by certain people that we were owned by 3 billionaires Are you suggesting that this might not be true
They came in, eventually found a manager who can 'add value' , i.e invest in him and the team and we should only go in one direction - get rid of those that weren't adding any value and bring in some who will - let's hope the wallets start opening upnow and we're clearing the decks in preparation for that - fingers crossed.
If they'd stayed shut, we'd be out of business.
Yes but there’s ticking over and having a real go at it - it happens to other clubs, it must be our turn some time ?
Exactly we've been losing 8 - 10 mill a season to tread water.

Friedman is a billionaire. Breyer was reported to be worth 300 million when he was in MLS. Rosenfeld owns a private recycling company so who know what he is worth but guessing nowhere near the other two
Callum King, who was a Commercial Sales Executive at the club, has also left the club. It seems to be a clear out of the commercial side of the business. No idea why.

It could be that people leave around the same time but for different reasons.
Callum King appears to have another job.
Higson doesn't.
Scott doesn't.
Methven is suppossedly still in post but is, I'm told, effectively on gardening leave.
Ron Dangerfield was "let go" months ago and Chris Parkes was covering the club secretary role from afar.
It doesn't seem ideal to have so many vacancies, even if you don't feel that some of the previous postholders were suitable.
The CEO and Head of Recruitment posts, the most senior, are being recruited to, the club say, and the busy times for them will be the summer but you'd have thought you'd want them in place ASAP.

Not a clear out CM done what he was brought into do plus he got a great opportunity in the Caribbean..

I’m beginning to wonder if that is more spin/PR than a significant role.

I wonder if he's got space for a few lifers to come along....
My hunch (with a reasonable dose of positive anticipation), is that there’s some significant money on its way.
I don't see it that way.
I think the reason Methven and to a lesser extent Scott were moved on is because they made big promises about increasing income and reducing losses.
That really hasn't happened on the business side and while we've moved on some costly mistakes like Kirk and trimmed the squad we are only now punching our weight as the 4/5th biggest budget in the division.
I feel the owners are happy to finance what they expected to lose but not a lot more. It seems likely they have picked up ACA partners shares and now Charlie's.
Maybe in the Championship they will see the need to spend more but I wouldn't see that as a given.

Agreed. The Championship is effectively one step away from the big money and when you usually get the serious players putting serious money in to get there. League one is a quagmire. Not easily navigated and can be a real headache especially if you've lumped on big and never make it as others have done. Birmingham appear to be one of the exceptions to the rule, but they had they added bonus of previous payments from their headier days to fall back on no doubt.
A lot of negative talk - i see nothing other than clearing the decks ready for mega investment in the team, acquisition and expansion of the Valley and a tie up with Bluewater car park.
