I suppose it can be called a free hit as it is one that won't derail us if we lose as expected. But we can get something from the game of course. We have beaten them once already this season and football can be funny like that.
I'd call it a free hit in the sense that everyone around us still has to play them as well (except Wrexham) and they all have as much chance of beating them as we do
They can afford to lose quite a few which probably makes them less nervous. The free hit aspect probably takes pressure of us so it shouldn't be a nervy game.

I don’t expect us to lose, have as good a chance of winning at St Andrews as we do anywhere.
I don't think we will do it, but us to get top 2 at 50/1 with betvictor looks a bit too big. Going to lump it and take part of it off as the season progresses. We are only 9 points off, and a few more wins will get us right up there
Far too soon to be making those predictions & I very much doubt whether you'd end up 10th with 77 points !
Is it?
What's the difference between doing the above as a bit of fun and someone doing a full season prediction at the start of the season, or saying yes we will get in the playoffs at the end of the season now? I'm just showing my workings as to where I think we'll finish.
I just went through and predicted all the remaining scores. Will they all be correct, absolutely not, especially if my performance in the weekly prediction league is anything to go by. I'd probably recommend going for the exact opposite on that basis.
As for will 10th end up with 77 points, you're almost certainly right, no probably not. But as I said I went through all the scores, that's how it ended up. Will there be more surprise results than I predicted and some teams end up on a lower amount of points, probably.
Looking ahead, the teams in 5th & 6th - Huddersfield & Orient - both play 3 times in the next week and a half.
The teams just below play only once - 7th (us, play Exeter), 8th (Bolton, play Orient), 9th (Reading, play Birmingham).
We should be much fresher than Orient when we play each other in a fortnight, given their 3 games before then are Wrexham away, Bolton away & Birmingham away.
Huddersfield's 3 games should harvest points, as should our game.
I'll give you a shout after we play Huddersfield on March 29th. 8 games to play by then - 3 of them against teams immediately above us in 6th, 5th & 4th !
Still think we'll fall a but short. Previously I've said 8th -10th, but probably end up 7th on GD !
Think the aim definitely now is Play-Offs. Would like it, but if we miss out by a point of two cannot fault that. The defense seems in a good place now just need to focus on the attack.
If we can buy players of a Gilbert quality in the summer we'll be pushing for Auto next year (if we are still in League One).

Despite having better goal difference than everyone currently below us in the league?

This is what I ended up with:

Amazing what you can do if you manage to string several 5-0 wins together. Have to feel a bit sorry for Birmingham though.
Golfie: "We missed being in the play-offs by 27 points"

Pick the bones out of that lot !!
2017/18: 48pts -> 71pts (6th)
2018/19: 54pts -> 88pts (3rd)
2020/21: 44pts -> 74pts (7th)
2024/25: 50pts -> ?

Our promotion sides have game changing strikers and I think we will therefore not go up .
