I really like Kanu and think he is a great option off the bench or even starting. His performance against Birmingham is one of the best from anyone all season. That being said, Jones keeps favouring Hylton over him so it's probably worth him going out on loan to League Two, getting the goals and coming back nice and confident.
As Kanu took his goal well at the covered end recently the only reason he wasn't in the 18 since the Northampton game was he had the cold bug doing the rounds. I believe he could have been on the bench for WW but NJ kept with the winning squad. I feel gutted for Kanu if he not involved since we have started to be more solid at the back and using width. As Godden said Kanu is the best at closing down and he will score goals in this mediocre division if we create the chances.
Seriously doubt we’ll be making cash bids for anyone. Three or four out and two loans in. Unless we’ve accepted bids for our players when we might look to replace with permanent ins.
Where did the Alfie May money go? Many don't seem to believe we spent a lot on Ahadme. We certainly didn't spend a lot on a 33-year-old Godden. That only leaves Mitchell who had told Millwall he wasn't going to sign a new contract.
Should be loads May's fee left. (Unless it was spent on Ahadme.)
Edwards and Dixon.
£870k for Adhadme was the figure I heard. No idea how much of that was upfront.
CM reported at Bromley IIRC £1.2m spent in the summer which included the May money.

Thanks. The maths just doesn't add up. If we have spent £1.2m then it's obvious a big chunk of that has gone on Gassan.

Yeah, a £870k big chunk. Mitchell £250k too
I think Edwards was £85k.
That doesn't leave anything left for Godden and Dixon though.
"Charlton have had their right-sided options depleted with Ramsay and Tennai Watson both injured.
“It is one position that we have had injuries in, the one position we haven’t had cover in and the one position we have been compromised in,” said Jones. “It’s glaringly obvious."
For how long though? Without the window we would have signed one in November, but will either or both of the injured pair be back by say February, making a 3rd RB a bit of a luxury then?
Ramsay is going to miss most of the season and Watson is shite
Brilliant news... couldve sworn I read that he was out for most of the season

Well nothing official AFAIK
Jones talked about Ramsay being back soon, might have been a few weeks ago.
Got to say with Peterborough’s league position and form, there are a number of players who are out of contract in the summer that I’d love for us to have a go at signing. They’ve got a really young squad but a number of talented players.
Seriously doubt we’ll be making cash bids for anyone. Three or four out and two loans in. Unless we’ve accepted bids for our players when we might look to replace with permanent ins.

Add that to the Arron Collins money that never materials and we have a proper warchest lol

Crowley playing for Notts today against Walsall, I think it was him that played the pass for Notts to take the lead.
Speaking of Notts County, I noticed that Lucas Ness made a couple of starts recently, but had to go after 34 minutes in their last game after being injured.

So IF true and we got 750k for Alfie, we spent the grand sum of 500k.

Top 6 budget, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
PS, Alfie scored another one today.
The majority of the league don’t spend much if any money. So there is potential that that is still top 6

My point is aimed at that if the case why are we not spending more?
My hunch is that this comment is 'padded out' and that of the budget we are factoring in paying up contracts etc rather than what there is available/prepared to spend.

I agree mate I think it must do. We have sent quite a few players out on loan that have never returned and I don’t remember any being announced as sold, Jayesemi for example

He was loaned until his contract here ran out, not that unusual

Kwame Poku is excellent. Injured currently and think he's had injury issues in the past? But only 23 and a lot of potential.
Malik Mothersille another very decent winger. 7 goals and 4 assists. Meant to be very sulky though and been compared to have an attitude similar to Marcus Maddison from some of their fans. Not sure if he'd fit in here.
Ricky-Jade Jones is the most interesting for me. Think he could be a real project and we don't have any strikers atm with his gifted pace. Closest is probably TC but I always see him more as a winger.
Those are all out of contract in the summer.
Archie Collins is another one who would be a good pick up for most teams in this league. He has a year and a half left though.
As usual, you can look at Peterborough and spot out 3 or so very decent players.
When he was playing earlier in the season Peterborough looked top 6 material. He has a similar impact for them as Lloyd Jones does for us.
Expect he could get a championship club but if he is out of contract in the summer we should definitely enquire. They were willing to sell us JCH last Jan rather than let him go for nothing 6 months later.
No one from Pboro will come cheap though. Logic would dictate it makes sense for them to sell but DMac is incredibly stubborn. Their fans aren’t very happy with him or how things are going

Good call about Ricky-Jade Jones, especially if this recent trend of one striker pulling wide is to continue. He definitely has the profile to be able to do that and would add better finishing to the equation over TC.
No chance could we even hope to sign Poku this month!! - His next destination will be to a Championship club, maybe if we get there at the end of the season, and he's still at Peterborough, not now

That doesn't leave anything left for Godden and Dixon though.
He’s unexpectedly been dropped today despite starting most games for Bolton this season & only conceding one goal in the last 3 games.
Out of contract in June so could be on the way (somewhere!)
So as if the window isn't distracting enough, we're now going 3 days into February with it. Any idea why it can't just end at midnight on 31 January?
